Chapter 198 - 198. Only If There Are Common Interests

"The price for each large four-wheeled carriage is 100,000, and the price for each small one is 70,000. This is the deal I negotiated with them last time. Just follow these prices when you pay them."

"However, I instructed them to prioritize making 30 large and 30 small carriages immediately, while the remaining 140 will be completed in batches later. I gave them just one day to start, and within seven days, these 60 carriages must be finished and delivered to our warehouse!"

Jason Liu calculated the time needed for the northern lords to return to his castle before sending someone to the Eastern Store. The fastest they could complete the entire process would be ten days. That meant the carriage factory had seven days to produce the order, and from there, it would be transported to the warehouse. The timeframe was completely manageable.

"Understood, Mr. Liu. I will instruct the people at Carriage Factory to complete the 30 large and small carriages within seven days and have them sent to our warehouse. The remaining 140 will be produced in batches."

Oliver repeated the instructions carefully to ensure he had memorized them correctly.

After estimating the funds required, he hesitated before speaking. "Mr. Liu, according to this order and its cost, the company's funds might not be sufficient..."

Jason Liu thought for a moment and realized that was indeed the case. He quickly made a decision. "Don't worry about the money. I'll transfer another 10 million into the company account. That should be more than enough to cover the purchase."

"Oh, in that case, there's no problem! Mr. Liu, please continue..." Oliver sighed in relief, secretly amazed by his boss's wealth. With this additional amount, the company had now received a total investment of 30 million.

"Once you've confirmed the order with Carriage Factory, get in touch with Manager Victor from Solar Panel Company and place another order for the solar lighting equipment we bought last time. He'll know what I'm talking about. Order 500 sets for now."

"What's the price per set?" Oliver asked immediately.

"Last time, I bought them for 1,500 each. See if you can negotiate a better deal this time. Try to get the price down, but don't waste time. The purchase must be made as soon as possible, and the goods need to be shipped back to our warehouse quickly."

Jason Liu wasn't particularly concerned about the price, but he wanted his subordinates to prove their worth, so he let Oliver handle the bargaining.

"Yes, Mr. Liu! I'll negotiate a lower price. Since we're buying in bulk, we should be able to get a discount!" Oliver said confidently.

Jason Liu nodded approvingly. "Alright. How are things going with the company? And what about Ironwood Timber?"

"The company is running smoothly, nothing major. IronWood has resumed operations, and Managers Lin and Jiang are busy re-establishing sales channels for the lumber," Oliver reported.

Jason Liu wasn't surprised. The company's day-to-day operations weren't overly complex, so there wasn't much that could go wrong.

After assigning the necessary tasks to Oliver, he ended the call. Then, he dialed the vice president of the ICBC branch in Zheng City and requested a transfer of 10 million from his account to Fusion Trade's account.

The bank representative assured him there was no problem. They exchanged a few pleasantries before ending the call.

Less than ten minutes later, his phone rang again. It was Lin Xiaohan. "Mr. Liu, are you back? Did you just transfer 10 million into the company account?"

"Yes, I instructed Manager Oliver to purchase a batch of goods, so I deposited another 10 million into the company," Jason Liu replied.

He wasn't surprised that Lin Xiaohan had called so quickly. Since she managed the company's finances, she would immediately notice such a large transaction.

"Oh, I see," Lin Xiaohan sounded tired. "When are you coming back from your business trip? Chuchu and I are still working on reconnecting with sales channels, but we should be done soon."

"Got it. Just make sure you're taking breaks. Don't overwork yourselves," Jason Liu said awkwardly. Not knowing what else to say, he ended the call after a few more words.

That afternoon, he had plans to head to Winterfell. Lady Catelyn had sent someone requesting his presence to discuss the lumberyard business.

She had been both surprised and delighted when her husband told her about the deal—selling the seemingly worthless trees from the Wolfswood near Winterfell. When she first heard about it, she could hardly believe it was real.

Was there really someone willing to buy those endless, useless trees at a high price?

Well, yes—Jason Liu was that fool, at least in Lady Catelyn's eyes.

No one else in Westeros, or even across the Narrow Sea in Essos, would be foolish enough to do something like this!

Since they had found such an easy opportunity, of course, they needed to discuss the deal further.

Lady Catelyn initially wanted to meet Jason Liu the following morning, but after learning that the northern lords were still at the Eastern Store and Lord Jason was busy entertaining them, she postponed their discussion to the afternoon.

While Lady Catelyn might think he was a fool, Jason Liu certainly didn't see it that way. He was about to make an enormous profit.

A million trees, each with a diameter of at least 30 cm, were being sold to him for just 10,000 gold dragons. Once transported to the modern era, he could easily make 800 million from them!

What was 10,000 gold dragons to Winterfell? A drop in the ocean.

After all, Jason Liu had made that money selling simple items like cheap pens, paper, soap, toothbrushes, and toothpaste.

There was another advantage to this deal. By providing House Stark with such massive benefits, he was tying their interests to his own. If any minor northern lord tried to cause trouble for him, the Starks—having profited so much from the deal—would be inclined to step in on his behalf.

In this world, alliances built on mutual benefit were the most reliable.

People would betray their own family for profit; brothers would turn on each other for wealth.

Greed was a powerful force.

As long as Westeros remained at peace, having House Stark as his backer meant Jason Liu didn't have to worry about immediate threats to his position as Lord of Starfire City.

Of course, secret schemes were another matter entirely. To counter those, he needed to develop his own power and means of protection.

Eddard Stark was a man of honor, and he wouldn't betray Jason Liu as long as it didn't directly harm House Stark.

This meant that, for now, Jason Liu's foothold in the North was secure.

But it wouldn't last forever.

Within two years, Westeros would be thrown into chaos.

Jason Liu didn't believe he could change the course of the Game of Thrones storyline. As long as people like Varys and Littlefinger were in King's Landing, peace was impossible.

If anything, things would only spiral further into chaos.

Jason Liu wasn't arrogant enough to think he could outmaneuver those two master manipulators.

So, he would take the smart approach—focus on making money and securing his future.

After all, wealth was power.
