"Those medicines are truly effective! Many patients with severe fever completely recovered by the next day! If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed that such powerful medicine existed in this world!"
Maester Reed's aged face turned slightly red with excitement as he spoke.
"It's truly amazing. These medicines are nothing short of miracles! Although it's disappointing to admit, the truth is that the medicines developed in our academy cannot even compare to those used at Easter Hospital."
"That's why we all stayed at Easter Hospital, waiting for Lord Jason Easter. We hoped to discuss medicine and medical practices with him. Fortunately, we had a good conversation, and the outcome was very promising. We are all thrilled!"
"Lord Jason has agreed to allow the city to send maesters, assistant maesters, and even apprentices to Easter Hospital to learn advanced medical knowledge."
"Not only is this free, but Lord Jason has also promised to cover the cost of their accommodations and clothing. On top of that, he will pay them generous salaries every month!"
Hearing this, Maester Luwin was left speechless.
He had heard about the impressive medical treatments at Easter Hospital before. However, due to his responsibilities in assisting Lord Eddard Stark with Winterfell's administration, he had never found the time to visit and see for himself. Now, after hearing such high praise from his learned colleagues, Maester Luwin realized that he had likely underestimated the medical knowledge and medicines Jason Liu had brought from his homeland.
Determined, Maester Luwin decided that he must find an opportunity to visit Easter Hospital as soon as possible. Without hesitation, he agreed that the city should send people to learn these advanced medical techniques.
Together, the maesters wrote a letter, attached it to a raven's leg, and set it free. If all went well, the raven would reach the academy's rookery in about six or seven days.
With that task completed, the noble lords of the North prepared to depart Winterfell.
They were all influential figures in the North. Now that the harvest feast had concluded, they had to return to their lands as soon as possible. Additionally, the maesters accompanying them had other responsibilities waiting at their respective castles. It was likely that a backlog of administrative tasks had accumulated in their absence, making it imperative for them to return quickly.
Thus, early in the morning, the northern lords mounted their horses and, leading their caravans, left Winterfell one by one.
Before leaving, many of them sent their regards to Jason Liu. They assured him that once they returned to their lands, they would send the payment for the goods they had ordered. They hoped that soon, a luxurious carriage with bright, lantern-like lights would arrive at their castles.
Jason Liu naturally reassured them, promising to complete the orders as soon as possible so that their men could return with the carriages promptly.
With that in mind, Jason Liu teleported back to his modern warehouse.
Upon arrival, he picked up his mobile phone and switched it on. There were several text messages waiting for him. Since he had told his company that he was traveling in an area with poor reception, they had only messaged him when necessary.
As he browsed the messages, he saw one from Oliver, the purchasing manager, informing him that the previously ordered stock of paper, pens, soap, and other goods had arrived at the warehouse.
Looking around, Jason Liu saw the warehouse filled with large stacks of cardboard boxes. The latest shipment included:
400,000 toothbrushes
900,000 tubes of toothpaste
200,000 gel pens (bringing the total stock in Westeros to about 360,000)
1 million pen refills (now totaling about 1.87 million in stock)
200,000 bars of soap (bringing the total stock to around 330,000)
1 million pieces of soap (now totaling about 1.05 million)
1 million sheets of A4 paper (total stock at around 2.3 million sheets)
100,000 sheets of large-format A1 paper (with about 170,000 in stock)
Jason Liu immediately transported the new shipment to his warehouse in the winter market town of Westeros.
Due to poor transportation, trade in Westeros was slow. The merchants from the Seven Kingdoms took far too long to travel back and forth, which greatly delayed the sale of his goods. Additionally, many of these small merchants were dealing with modern products for the first time. They were hesitant and did not purchase large quantities at once.
As a result, after making a long journey to sell their stock, it often took them another twenty days or even a full month to return for more supplies.
No wonder people say, "To get rich, build roads first." The poor transportation infrastructure was a major obstacle to economic prosperity.
Jason Liu couldn't help but wonder if the major cities—King's Landing, Storm's End, Highgarden, Sunspear, the Eyrie, Casterly Rock, Riverrun—and even the Free Cities like Braavos, Volantis, Qohor, and Pentos had started to notice the modern goods being sold in small amounts by independent traders.
If the major merchants in these cities caught wind of these goods, their purchasing power would easily clear out his inventory in one transaction.
But there was no need to rush. Sooner or later, these businessmen would notice. As long as there was profit to be made, merchants had an uncanny ability to sniff out opportunities. Eventually, they would realize the value of his goods and come directly to his store to make bulk purchases.
When that happened, the modern products Jason Liu brought from his world would truly flood Westeros.
For now, he had to settle for small-scale, high-price shipments handled by independent traders.
Shaking his head at the thought, Jason Liu returned to his modern warehouse and picked up his phone to call Oliver.
"Hello, Mr. Liu? You're back?" Oliver was surprised to hear from his boss. It had been days since he had any updates.
"Manager Oliver, I need you to contact two companies for me: Carriage Factory and Solar Panel Company. I'll send you their phone numbers shortly."
Pausing briefly, Jason Liu added, "You'd better take notes."
Hearing this, Oliver quickly returned to his desk, grabbed a pen and paper, and replied, "Yes, Mr. Liu. I'm ready. Please go ahead."
"Contact those two companies on my behalf," Jason Liu instructed. "Tell them I need to place an order."
He then proceeded to list the items he needed. "Order 100 large four-wheeled carriages and 100 small four-wheeled carriages from Carriage Factory. They should be the same design as the ones I ordered before. Just let them know, and they will understand."
"I will send you the phone number of Director from the Carriage Factory shortly."
Jason Liu planned to stockpile 200 four-wheeled carriages so that when the nobles placed their orders, he would have them ready for immediate delivery.
Although Oliver was slightly confused about this carriage factory and what these large and small four-wheeled carriages were, he had long since learned not to question his boss's strange business ventures. He simply followed instructions and carefully wrote down every word.
"Yes, Mr. Liu. I have noted everything. Do you have any other orders?"
