Fiadh left to check and make sure things were set for the rest of the day and to give them space, so it was only Darry who heard the hiccoughs that were the remains of the breakdown.
Rache was too tired to move, so instead she laid on the bed with her sweet goat Darry. His soft, fluffy fur made the perfect pillow. He was warm, and smelled sweet. He'd clearly been groomed recently by Fiadh - though Rache had missed it.
But.
It didn't matter.
What mattered was that she had a wonderful maid. A wonderful helper. Who took care of Darrach and herself when she could not.
It was dangerous to get too cozy, but the goat made a happy sound.
Her hand had finally decided that it would follow the instructions of her brain and could be used for things, and that included stroking Darry's fur and scratching lightly at his ears.
"You're a sweet baby..." Rache sighed happily.
He was a wonderful boy.
The poor darling baby boy, too, had known far too much sadness, already.
