Chapter 25 - 25

Once the system started the update, I decided to start telling Laura about the mansion and everyone in it to pass the time on the plane ride there. She didn't really care for anything I was telling her until I brought Logan. That immediately caught her interest. I guess Weapon X told her who she was cloned from if her peak of interest is to go by anything.

I told her she'll get to meet him, but he would probably need to take a minute or two to come around to the fact that he essentially has a daughter now.

After the not so long flight, we made it back to the mansion. I telepathically contacted the professor and told him that we need to meet and he should have Logan come as well.

"Welcome to the Xavier Institute, you guys," I said to Gambit and Laura as we came down the ramp of the Blackbird. "This is where you'll be staying for the foreseeable future."

"This does not look like much, mon chère," Remy said.

"Well, we're technically in the underground garage. Just wait till we get topside, there's a pool, game room, and there's also the Danger Room that's just one floor above us," I told him as we all walked into the elevator.

"What is a Danger Room?" Gambit asked.

"Everything will be explained on the tour," Ororo told him as the elevator stopped on the top floor.

The elevator doors opened up to show Kitty Pryde standing there.

"Hi, I'm Kitty, and I'll be your tour guide," she said before immediately grabbing Gambit and pulling him away.

Once they were gone, the rest of us went to the professor's office.

"Alright, Jean, I believe you owe us an explanation," Professor X said.

"Ok...," I said before I started explaining the events that happened to him and Logan.

Through my explanation I could tell that Logan was angry that the Weapon X Program was still up and running and that they cloned him, but when I explained about Laura's treatment and what they did to her mother, he bout exploded into his beserker rage if it wasn't for Storm.

Once I was done explaining everything, Logan cooled down, but I could tell that he was determined to find Weapon X and put an end to the program permanently.

"This is troubling news," Xavier said as he rested his hand on his chin and started thinking.

"I'll deal with them myself, Chuck," Logan said.

"Now, Logan, that isn't necessary...," Charles said before stopping mid sentence as he looked at Laura, who was giving him a death glare.

"Professor, they'll be after her anyway, and I saw through the minds of those people. They're horrible, and I think Logan going after them would be in X-23's best interest," I said, breaking Charles out of reading, said mutant's surface thoughts.

"Although I don't condone Logan's more aggressive ways, I do see your point," Charles sighed. "Very well, you may go, Logan, but please try to keep your activities as covert as possible."

"You know me, Chuck, covert is my mild name," Logan said with a feral grin.

"Well, while he does that, I'll try to help X-23 assimilate into life at the X-Mansion," I said, getting a thankful nod from Logan in return.

November 15, 2000

After that day, life in the Xavier Institute got a little bit hectic, I guess. I only say that because I spent half the time helping Laura assimilate into life without being caged and the other half trying to stop her from murdering the other students here, mainly Nightcrawler and Evan. Those boys have no idea about boundaries. They're lucky I'm always close by her, or she would've turned them into shish kabobs.

Other than that, things have been going well. Gambit has found his place among us, and we finally got Rogue on our side. I wasn't there for all the details, but she found out how Mystique manipulated her choice into joining the Brotherhood when she absorbed her powers and memories while trying to save Scott.

[System Update finished]

Well, it's about time. I almost thought this thing would never finish updating. Let's see what's new.

[The Phoenix System update has now blocked the MP stat until the host learns, buys, or the system provides magic. The store feature now uses the money host earns to buy items instead of the use of points]

[For the inconvenient update, the host is gifted the [Phoenix Spark I] perk]

[Phoenix Spark I

Item Type: Perk

Description: A spark of the Phoenix that doubles the power of all Psionic moves and raises Int by 10 for every level up. (Note: taking in the Phoenix Force will evolve this perk into [Host of the Phoenix])]

I closed that window and brought up my my status to see if my MP was really gone.

[Name: Jean Annalise Grey

Age: 16

Race: Mutant

Title: N/A

Perks: Phoenix Spark I

Level: 25 Next Lvl: 25%

HP: 1290/1290

Str: 15

Dex: 15

Vit: 19

Int: 19

Wis: 13

Luk: 10

SP: 176]

So, since I don't have an MP stat no more, does that mean my powers won't be affected by it?

[Correct, host's Telekinesis, Telepathy and other Psionic based powers from the X-Gene can now be used freely without the worry of running out of fuel unless the host exhausts their selves]

Ok, that's good, because that was really tampering with my goal of steam rolling the dungeons. Speaking of dungeons, I think another grind session is needed.

"Jean!!! Come on, or we're gonna be late for school," Scott's voice ranged out through my bedroom door.

"You don't have to yell," I told him once I opened the door and left my room.

"Well, you take too long getting ready," he said, causing me to roll my eyes at him.

"Right, I'm the one that takes too long getting ready," I scoffed.

"Let's just go. We have that survivalist field trip thing," Scott said.

"Ugh, don't remind me," I said as we started walking to the garage to get to his car.

We were later joined by the rest of the team with the exception of Laura, who was with Storm as they went to wherever Logan was to give him a hand in finding and destroying Weapon X.
