Hannah covered with what she had managed to squeeze from deep inside her reserves of energy, but the corrosion she had been waiting for didn't come. Suddenly, the thick membrane of denser and still water gave way to the same ocean as before, but it was like they were fishes in water.
Hannah could not see. She could only feel like she was on a high speed train as she moved up, the water aiding them instead of being an obstacle. What had taken her hours to descend through before took barely ten seconds, ten seconds after which she could not be in a daze anymore.
*BROOOMMM*
She was reminded of the catastrophe chasing them, and as slashed through the blockade of the surface of the ocean with a swing of his outstretched fingers, the shaking below caught up.

The sudden shift in environment plunged them back into the debilitating gravity on the surface of the ocean. Hannah felt like a hammer had been slammed into her, hitting not the surface of her body, but deep inside.
