Chapter Two
"Starting today, I'm free again. Aren't you going to congratulate me?"
Sofia Hamilton curved her lips into a smile, but the mirth in her eyes was forced.
If Aurelia Wood couldn't even see that, she didn't deserve to be her friend.
Aurelia pressed her lips together. "Do you still need to put on a facade in front of me?"
With that, she started the engine and drove away.
The smile on Sofia's face gradually could no longer be maintained, and she quietly leaned against the car, watching the silent streetlights outside the window.
In her mind, the memories of his every little action toward her kept emerging.
When she doubted her abilities the most, it was he who gave her confidence and motivation,
took her to the library, helped her build the Glass House, even found her a good shopfront, paved the way for everything, and solved all her troubles.
When everyone doubted her, it was also he who stood up and vouched for her with his own reputation.
