The city basked in a peaceful morning. People walked the streets, children laughed in parks while playing with their abilities and the buzz of everyday life filled the air. Everything was normal—at least, for now.
In his room, Alex lay lazily on his bed, a controller in one hand and a half-eaten bag of chips beside him. His eyes were glued to the screen as he fought through the final boss of a game he'd been stuck on for weeks.
"Ugh… seriously? Again?" he groaned, dropping the controller onto his chest. "Two weeks, over a hundred tries… and I still can't beat this level. Its like the game developers want us the players to lose on purpose."
He let out a deep sigh, sitting up slowly.
"I'll continue later. I should probably go train, i have'nt had any since two weeks ago."he muttered.
Just as he was about to get up, BOOM!
A thunderous explosion echoed through the city. His window panes rattled. Alex's eyes widened "The fuck."
He dashed to the veranda and flung the curtains aside. Outside, dark energy twisted in the sky as a massive portal opened. From within, familiar figures floated down—the Dark Sign members. "No way!" Alex gritted his teeth with annoyance.
All of them were there… except Shinki.
Alex's expression hardened.
"Tch… not them again. I heard these guy came and rampage the entire city the last time they showed up."
Down on the streets, chaos erupted. Civilians ran foe their lives, some were using their abilities to save one another, soldiers and special forces flooded in, directing people to safety. Runo whipe helping people looked up in the air, she was very annoyed "Damn it! Of all times."
Above, the villains floated like grim shadows.
Sorata with his purple spikey hailr floating with wind, turned to the others. "The plans simple. Reac havoc. When things become too hard, you flee. We use this opportunity to understand the strength of the soldiers. Got it?"
Kirihai scoffed, resting a hand on her hip. "You really don't need to repeat that."
"I couldn't care less if you died. Just stick too the plan." Sorata replied coldly.
"That's just rude!" Kirihai shouted back, genuinely offended.
Garou chuckled. "This is gonna be fun."
Mirio, sighing, said, "Let's just get this over with and go home."
Suddenly, a blade of death shot through the air toward them—but Sorata raised a hand and blasted it apart with a surge of destructive energy.
Sorata narrowed his eyes as he glanced downward.
"He's here."
Bara grinned. "Guess I'll take this one. I have some scores to settle with that *DEMON BOY*."
With that, the others scattered across the city, vanishing in different directions.
Bara turned his gaze to the ground where Alex stood.
"It's been a while, hasn't it?"
Alex narrowed his eyes. "You... i remember you. You're the gut Kazuki and I fought on our second mission. How… how are you even alive?"
Bara smirked. "None of your concern. Although, your strength at the time was insane for a mere D-ranker. Im interested in seeing what you are capable of now"
In a blur, he shot toward Alex at breakneck speed.
Alex leapt aside just in time as Bara crashed into the ground and wiped out a large number of buildings with the shock wave of his crash.
"You're faster than last time," Bara said, laughing devilishly. His robotic arm morphed into a missile launcher, and more missiles spawned. "Let's test your limits."
He fired without hesitation.
Alex darted through the streets with flash steps, zigzagging between buildings like lightning, narrowly avoiding the barrage of missiles and energy blasts.
"Wow, youre quicker now, NICE!!," Bara said. "But how long can you keep that up?"
Realizing he had no space to counter, Alex jumped high into the sky, summoning multiple blades of death "SUCK ON THIS AND DIE!!!", Alex shouted. He fired them in a spread, intercepting the incoming missiles. Explosions erupted across the battlefield, lighting up the city like fireworks—except they brought destruction instead of joy.
"You're getting good at countering," Bara acknowledged with a grin.
But before Alex could react, Bara disappeared and reappeared right behind him. Alex turned, slashing with a fully-charged blade of death. The impact rocked the ground and left a crater.
Bara didn't move. Not even a scratch.
Alex stepped back in shock."Well what do you know? My attacks didn't work."
"You've improved," Bara said casually, he rubbed off the blood on his mouth, his grey hair was flowing due to the breeze. Bara darted forward before punching Alex with such force that he crashed through multiple buildings and city blocks at once.
As Alex tumbled through rubble, Bara soared above with his robotic arm charged, ready to deliver a devastating punch.
Alex barely rolled out of the way before the punch landed, shaking the entire city and flattening nearby structures.
"He's too strong… Where the hell did he get this strenght from?" Alex muttered, panting.
Red energy swirled around his arms.
"Time to stop holding back. I'll just break him apart. And if shit gets too real....I'LL JUST KILL HIM!!"
He activated Energy Fist +50—a power equivalent to a thousand men.
"Another silly trick?" Bara mocked. Alex vanished in a blur.
Flash-stepping around him at insane speeds, Alex unleashed a flurry of punches from every direction. Bara, eyes closed, effortlessly dodged every strike that were strong enough city blocks.
"You're fast," Bara admitted, "but predictable."
Alex gritted his teeth "Not good!" He prepared a new technique: Blade of Death: Ultra. His blade turned into fiery orange, brimming with devastating energy.
He swung—
—but Bara caught it with one hand. The impact of Alex's attacks caused a huge wave of wind that shattered windows of buildings.
"You've got speed, kid," he said, holding the vibrating blade while Alex was struggling to bash through Bara's grip. "But now that you're odd guard, anything can hit you and kill you." Alex was stunned for a moment from what Bara just said.
Bara opened his mouth and released Sonic Blast, a powerful soundwave that blew Alex back and leveled buildings in every direction.
Alex smashed into the ground, dazed. His eyes were white and his mouth was wide open. Alex was in daze "What the.....So.... that was... AHHA"
Before he could recover, Bara appeared above him again—charging a deadly energy beam. He had an excited look on his face "NOW LETS SEE HOW YOU ESCAPE THIS!". He blasted a powerful beam of energy at Alex, this caused another giant explosion. Bara cackled with joy and was about to launch the same attack at Alex. "IS THAT ALL YOU GOF BOY?! GET UP AND FIGHT."
But before he could fire—
BOOM!
A glowing fist slammed into Bara's face, sending him flying through several city blocks.
A figure landed beside Alex.
"Yo. You okay?" the voice asked. Out of the smoke, Alex rose up with some bruises, blood stains and burn marks.
Alex looked up, with shock
"D-Deo…?"
Deo smiled. "You look like you need help"
Alex exclaimed with annoyance "Well what does it look like you?!!"
From the rubble, Bara stood up and brushed off the dust, still grinning, his hair flowing majestically.
"Now this... I didn't expect."
He clenched his fist as energy began to surge once again. He stretched out his hands "Now, let the actual fun begin!"
To be continued…
