As the bear gets close I ran at it before slamming my spear into the ground. I jump up and use my spear to propel myself higher, and over the bear. With my spear in hand I fall onto the back of the bear plunging the tip of my spear into its back. It roars in pain as it runs, spins, and shakes in an attempt to get me off. I hold on tightly to avoid falling off.
At some point the bear starts tipping over as it plans to roll over in an attempt to crush me. I think for a fraction of a second before letting go of my spear and jumping over to the direction the bear is going to roll in. As the bear starts to roll the butt of my spear sinks into the snow before pushing into the dirt. I quickly freeze the shaft of the spear and the butt of it into the ground.
As the bear pushes against the stuck spear the spear pushes deeper into its body. This causes it to roar out in pain as it stops rolling. I jump over to where the spear is connected to its body and freeze that point as well. I can feel my head start to pound at the fast pace , but I've already committed to the plan. Not going through with it can spell my end.
As the bear struggles it makes its wound larger and more severe. After about half a minute of freezing it stops struggling. It's not dead as I can feel its heavy breaths and warm blood. At this point my head doesn't hurt, but my mind feels heavy. I use my arms to support my shaky legs as I walk around the bear. As I reach its head it sees me and tries to bite me. I fall back and land in the snow.
I look it in the eyes and see pain, fear, stress, and more. I contemplate letting it go now, but I'm not entirely sure if it will run or attack me. At this point I can barely stop myself from collapsing in the snow. If I want it to run, I will need to seem like I'm more than capable of still fighting. With this in mind I sit there for a couple minutes before standing up slowly. After gaining my balance I walk back behind the bear.
I grab my spear, and I make sure I have a good hold on it. I use my body weight and what strength I have left to pull on the spear. The bear shifts at little, but since the spear barely moves it doesn't really feel anything.
'Can you guys separate from one another? I need to free my spear from this bear.'
The Lower Winter Sprites that formed the ice freezing my spear to the bear start to separate. My direct control is unnecessary as they are more than capable of breaking off from one another by themselves.
After a couple of seconds they completely separate from one another and all the ice is gone. I tell the same to the Lower Winter Sprites freezing the bottom of my spear to the ground. After they separate I stumble forward due to the weight of the spear. Not that its heavy, but in my current state it feels a lot heavier than it is.
With my spear unstuck I start pulling the spear out of the bear. The bear obviously starts yelling in pain as it struggles to free itself from the spear. After a bit over 10 seconds of pulling the spear comes loose and I fall onto my back, spear in hand. The bear, now free, stands up on all fours. I quickly stand up as it turns to me.
It doesn't charge me but it does growl a bit before running off into the forest. I sigh in relief as I collapse back into the snow. There is no way I'm going to make it back home in this condition. I know that fact so I start digging a small hole into the snow. After a small hole is made I bury my spear an inch or two into the snow. I go into the hole I made and curl into a ball. After that I covered myself with snow.
While certainly not the best protection I figure it's better than sleeping out in the open. Not to mention the Lower Winter Sprites will have an easier time protecting me when I'm literally completely surrounded by them. I'm not sure how much they can do, but I'm sure they will try their best at least.
It's knowing facts like this that allows me to let unconsciousness take me in such an unfamiliar area. While I'm unconscious some animals check out where the battle took place. There wasn't much blood, but the roars of the bear were certainly loud. While some came sniffing around my sleep place, none ever dug me up.
Now sleeping underneath snow isn't a very good idea. Why? Because there isn't any real way for oxygen to reach you. Or more specifically, me. Due to the lowering oxygen levels where I was my body goes into a sort of frozen state. In this state my body slowly heals itself while the amount of things like oxygen are used as minimally as possible.
With this said around 9 hours pass before I wake up. As I open my eyes I first notice how stiff my body feels. I ignore it for now and dig my way out of the snow. I look around for any predators or animals. After finding none I crawl out completely and dig up my spear. Although my body feels cold, it's not an uncomfortable cold.
'My body is so stiff. Moving around a bit will fix this most likely. My head feels a little fuzzy, but that's probably a side effect of using my abilities too much.'
My stomach growls and I hold my stomach. I think about if I have some food at home. I do, but my home is around 40 minutes away from my current location/
'Let's just hope I can find a rabbit or something along the way. I'll fight even a moose if it means I can get some food. A bear certainly isn't out of the question either.'
