As I opened my eyes, I found myself in a completely white space.
There was nothing but just pure white space, stretching endlessly.
*Sigh*
If only I knew whether the operation was successful.
"No need to worry, young man. It was successful." A beautiful voice spoke, but my focus was more on what she said.
Thank God, it was successful. And it looks like I'm dead.
"Yes, you are dead. And there's no need to thank me."
It seems whatever this is, can hear my thoughts. And when did I thank her?
"Well, you just did. You said, 'Thank God'."
"It looks like, even if I don't speak, we can still hold a conversation. You can hear my thoughts. Miss Goddess... or are you Mr. God?" I asked. Her voice sounded feminine, but there could be someone tricking me. I've heard of tricksters who enjoy messing with people like this.
"I am Aphrodite, Goddess of Love. And don't worry, Loki is not here."
"Thanks for the confirmation, and sorry if my thoughts seemed rude."
"No need for that. I understand it's all very sudden for you."
"Yeah, who would expect to meet a god? By the way, what did I do to deserve the honor of meeting the Goddess of Love?"
"You're asking me why I met you?"
"Yeah, since I have no idea."
"You gave your heart to your lover. In a world where brothers kill each other over land, you're asking why I met you? You're not quite what I expected from someone in that world."
"Not every fish in the sea is the same."
"True. Sorry about that."
"Why are you apologizing?"
"Because I assumed that all people from your world were the same. It may look beautiful on the outside, but it's dirty on the inside. I just wanted to know why someone from that world would do something like that without expecting anything in return."
"I did it because I loved her."
"Well, what if I told you she pretended to love you, just to get your heart?"
"It doesn't matter. I truly loved her, without thinking about any profit. To me, love is more important than anything. My family died in an accident last year, so I have no regrets. I feel at peace now."
As I said this, a breathtaking beauty walked toward me. Suddenly, the white space transformed into a garden, with a table and two chairs in the middle. She sat in the chair opposite me, and I realized I was already seated when it appeared.
"I never thought I'd sit with a goddess one day, especially one as beautiful as you."
"Are you trying to flirt with me?"
"No, no, don't take it the wrong way. I was just complimenting you. You're very beautiful."
"Hmph. I'll take that as you not lusting after my body."
"Even if I were, you'd catch me instantly, since you can read my thoughts."
"True."
"So, can I ask why you've come here? I doubt it's just a simple visit from a goddess who's interested in me."
"You're right. You see, I've decided to give you a chance to live again. Or rather, you can go directly to heaven."
"You're serious? Then I can live with—"
"Sorry to break it to you, but I can't send you back to your world, not until you've reincarnated into a different world. These are the rules we have to follow."
"So…"
"I'm giving you three wishes and a chance to reincarnate in a world of your choosing. You can use them, or you can go to heaven, but I think you want to live again."
"Yeah, I want to live again. Thanks for the offer."
"Think nothing of it," Aphrodite said, smiling—a smile so beautiful it could start a world war.
"I'm happy that you think my smile could start a war, but can you focus on what's in front of you?" she said, clearly hearing my thoughts.
"Sorry, but you're so beautiful I lose my focus whenever I see you."
"So, have you forgotten about your past life's love? The one to whom you gave your heart?"
"No, I haven't forgotten. I'm just attracted to your beauty. Being attracted to beauty is different from being in love. And I think you know that best, considering you're the Goddess of Love." She smiled again. I think she was pleased with my answer.
After some time spent thinking, I finally decided on the world and wishes I wanted to choose.
"It looks like you've decided," Aphrodite said, looking at me.
"Yes, and I know you already know what I've decided. So, is it possible?"
"It is possible, but I want to hear it from your mouth."
"Well, if that's what you want, then I want to go to the Pokémon world."
"Okay, but this world will be much more cruel than the one you saw in the anime. Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure."
"As for my wishes: my first wish is that I have a system and a skill that will allow me to tame any Pokémon, no matter how wild."
"Okay, I'll give you a system, but it won't be anything special. As for the skill, it won't activate until you're four years old."
"I'm fine with that. Also, I doubt I'll need to do anything major with Pokémon before I turn four."
"Your second wish?"
"Right. My second wish is to have very rich parents who also handle the supply of Pokémon and Pokémon eggs all over the world."
"That's a simple request. Consider it done."
"Thanks. And my third wish is that I have knowledge of almost everything—like hacking, cooking, cleaning—and a photographic memory."
"Your wishes are very simple, except for the third one. But it will be granted as well. Are you sure? You could have asked for anything."
"I'm fine with this. For someone like me, it's more than enough."
"I like your decency and simple nature. I'll also give you a secret gift."
"Thank you. It's more than I could ask for, but what's the gift?"
"If I tell you, it won't be a secret anymore. I wish you the best of luck in your next life."
Thank you, and may you also have a happy life."
"Well, thank you." Aphrodite said, looking surprised. I understand why as who else would wish a god to be happy? I just said it in the heat of the moment.
"Only you. But it made me happy. Thank you," she replied, her voice soft as I felt a force pulling me toward it.
"I hope you have a happy life," Aphrodite said before she disappeared, returning from where she came, and the place returned to its original state—complete white
