They continued their march through the heart of the city, descending gradually from the palace tier into the bustling streets below. The paving stones under their feet were smooth from generations of passage, and the smell of spices and smoke drifted heavily in the air.

Eccar's sharp eyes moved across every corner, every little invention, and every peculiar mix of steel and spellwork.

The marketplace was especially alive, with rows of vibrant stalls offering all manner of wares like enchanted cloth that the seller claimed could repel rain, self-heating pans, hovering ink quills, and bottled light sealed in crystal jars.

Merchants called out prices and beckoned customers, their voices overlapping in a rhythm that only made sense to those born into it.

Eccar marveled quietly at the blend of innovation and practicality. He didn't know how much of use all of that invention, but they certainly new to him.
