The blaring sound of my phone alarm was the first thing I heard this morning. I stretched my arm to the bedside table, picked up my phone and put the alarm on snooze. I instantly noticed the light weight on my chest and I realised I slept while reading because the book was still on me. Closing the book and putting it on the bedside table, I raised my head from the pillow and did a little stretch.
It is literally 5:30 in the morning and I can tell it's going to be a long day. I looked around the room and recognise the outline of my shabby, mismatched bedroom. I blink my eyelids multiple times to get rid of the sleep and dizziness. I come down from my bed and put on my fluffy animal themed flip flops.
I walked to my bathroom and commenced the usual morning rituals. After I was done taking a shower I walked to my closet, picked up some jeans and a purple hoodie and some sneakers.
I checked the time. 5:50. If I was going to make it in time to the Wilson's house before 8 and avoid the heavy traffic of New York then I'd had to get a move on it. After I was done dressing, I took out my uniform from the closet and put it in a small paper bag. I'd change when we I get to the Wilson's mansion. I walk to the kitchen to make some breakfast. I open the fridge took out some eggs, bread and strawberry milk. I put two slices of bread in the toaster and heated my frying pan to prepare my eggs. The 'ding' sound of the toaster informed me that's my toast were ready. So I quickly fried my eggs and set everything on a plate. I placed the plate on the counter and grabbed a nearby stool. I sat down and had breakfast. Once I was done I put the plates in the sink and went to grab my backpack. I put the paper bag containing my uniform into the backpack and put my phone in one of the smaller compartments. I also picked up the novel I was reading from my bedside table and place it in the backpack. I opened the fridge and grabbed a bottle of orange juice and an apple wrapping them in another paper bag and putting them in the backpack too once I was done I picked my purse which contained my keys, some money, credit card and a handkerchief. I swung the backpack over my shoulders, picked the keys from my purse and turned off the lights in the apartment. I opened the door to leave for work taking a last look around the now dark apartment and finally closing the door and locking it.
I sprinted down the hallway and stairs ( the elevator broke down again. ) and out the building heading for the bus station to catch the first bus of the day leaving for the outskirts. when I finally made it to the bus stop, I checked the time 6 : 18.
Two minutes early. Good. Just have to wait for the bus.
