Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Motherly Tears

A few hours earlier

[Swoosh]

[Zzzswish]

"Hey? What is that in the sky?"

The other villages put the side of their hand above their eyes and look up

"What is that?!"

"Some kind of fire?"

"T..Tth...That's a fireball! GET DOWN!"

[BOOM]

[BANG]

"ARGHHHHH!"

"H..Help….. Me… IT BURNS!"

"ARghhhhh….."

[Swoosh]

[Swishh]

[Crackle]

[Bang]

"The Village is on fire!"

"WHERE IS THE VILLAGE CHIEF!"

"Noooooo!"

"Th...They keep coming! Make a run for it!"

The fireballs the size of basketballs, raining down on the defenceless village from the other side of the mountain. Villagers getting burnt to a crisp before the fireball even landed onto their bodies, the radius of the flames spread outwards to almost 2 metres in width! Burning the wooden houses easily as they spread to one and another.

Villagers fleeing from the fireballs, their hearts beating, having left their loved ones behind as they watch or run away. The unfortunate villagers stretch out their black charred arms, slowly turning into ash and dust that rises into the atmosphere as their souls cry out in sorrow. Some were caught by the falling buildings and burned alive as the wooden supports burned their hardened skin so badly that the fire ate through their bodies and burned their organs. With the cries for help, no one could help the other as they were either burned to ash or had long since fled into the dark woods.

It took no more than 8 minutes for the intense flames of the fireball to burn every single house in the village.

A truly horrifying sight to behold as everything you loved so dearly burns to nothing but dust that flies in the toxic atmosphere as it never existed.

"This is looking good." A cold grin forms. "Burn like you are in hell, because that's the only place you really belong, you filthy demons. All right, move out! I want every single demon killed, but leave a few alive so they can be interrogated. Find the target!" Philip ordered as he glanced behind before swinging back onto his steed and charged off at full speed, leaving Kane behind.

"I just don't get why he hates demons so much." shaking his head, he looked behind him seeing a few of the Knights heard what he muttered. "Is something the matter?" he asks with a confused face.

"No, sir!" The army marched toward the village. Within minutes they had arrived there. The wizards formed a [Barrier] spell within the army to protect themselves from the falling building or any attacks from demons.

The knights removed their shields, which were strapped to their backs with leather straps. Continuing their march to the village, holding their swords at their sides, ready to strike at any demon.

The army's heavy footsteps shakes the ground as they all move in unison, creating small earthquakes.

Meanwhile at the front lines.

[Click-Clat]

[Click-Clat]

"Woahh…. Stop here!" Philip pulls back the reins towards his chest, He swings his body to the side and hops down to the ground.

[Thump]

"I… Smell pesky demons." he whispered as his mouth turned into a smirk. He raises his left hand and a magic bow materializes in the air. He turns his upper body to 10 O'clock and fires 2 iron head arrows directly at a building. The arrows with their strong firepower can easily penetrate several brick houses, so penetrating just one wooden house was nothing.

"ROARRRRR...!"

"ARGHH, ROARRR!

The roars of the demons slowly die down, a moment later a loud thud is heard from behind the house.

Philip tosses his magical bow in the air and only a moment later the magical bow vanishes. With a satisfied grin, he raises both arms in the air as he enjoys the sound of the perishing demons. Philip turns his head back and hears the small tremors, he smiles knowing that his army is slowly marching into the village just as he planned.

[Crack]

Philip, with a murderous countenance, turns quickly, and in a fraction of a second fires a volley of arrows in the direction of the small crack he heard. His eyes widened, with a cold smile, he drops his bow and raises both of his hands behind his ear and grins as he closes his ears waiting for that sweet sound of dying demons as they roar.

"RoarrRR!"

"ARGHHH!"

"Roarr…."

"Ahhhh, yes, yes, yes, ohhh, the sweet sound of those demons roaring like the roaches they are gets me all excited, HAHAHA!"

Philip rubs his arms as he rocks his body back and forth with a satisfied, joyful grin.

As the dying roar dies off, Philip curves a frown. Not satisfied.

"No matter, I will just simply.... Torture until I satisfy my desire. How I longed for this day to hear the pitiful roars of these demons. Hahahaha."

[Crack]

A small demon child holding his father's hand steps on a twig, the rest of the demons looked at the small child with their hearts pounding loudly, before they react, a volley of arrows pierces the building and directly hits the four other demons.

The child dies instantly as the arrow pierces her frail body like paper as well with a fist-sized hole in the centre of her chest.

Sasha and Ethan, who were attempting to escape with them, were several metres ahead so they didn't get shot. They wanted to cry out to their people as their bodies fell to the ashen grass with a loud thud, but they wiped their tears without making a sound, taking each step slowly and carefully to minimise the risk of making a sound that would lead to their deaths.

As Sasha crept through the village, all she could think of was the safety of her son. She would gladly take her own life if it meant saving her only son. She was a simple woman aged 344 years while her husband was 428 years old. They were a loving couple who were always there for each other no matter what. They wanted to grow old together as they watched their son grow into a handsome young man and enjoy his life to the fullest with the best woman they would find for him. She wiped her tears, knowing that somehow they would not make it out of here alive, the very thought of it could make any living thing weep at the top of its lungs, for every minute the village they once knew was nothing but a bloodbath and a scorching field of death.

Ethan felt a tug on his hand as he looks back he sees Sasha holding his hand with her head down as she weeps.

"Let's stop running… We both know we can't run away from humans." She said as she looked up into Ethan's eyes.

Ethan tried to hold back his tears, but he could hold them back no longer and fell to the floor, palms on his face as he wept with all his heart.

Sasha smiled beautifully despite their inevitable outcome, she crouched down and hugged Ethan from his back, as they both wept together.

They were surrounded by the army with the knights in their silver armour with their swords pointed at their heads ready to strike at any demon they saw. Two knights moved aside as Philip walked in looking down with a disgusted look.

"Just looking at them grovelling against each other can make any person want to puke, Tsk." He spat at them and shouted. "Tie them up with the rest of the demons. If they can't provide information, burn them from the inside out. I will return later on, knights, break their bones, torture them with your heart's content, do whatever you can to make them talk, and if they can't well. You know what to do." He laughed as he left the area looking for the target that they originally came for.

An hour later

"ARGHHHHH! . WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH US! JUST KILL US ALREADY!"

Ethan tried to communicate, but the humans couldn't understand a word, so they kept stabbing the Demons, crimson blood kept flowing from the wounds.

"NO! LEAVE HER ALONE! SASHA!"

"ARGHHHHHHH!" She screamed in immense pain as the wizards heated up the Knights swords. They stabbed and stabbed and stabbed. The Humans were enjoying themselves as they were at a party, they could torture the demons however they wanted.

In the shadows 2 people walked out, they were Philip and Kane.

"Did you manage to get any information out of them?" He demanded as he looked at the demon's wounded bodies with a lifeless expression.

One of the knights walked up and bowed before reporting.

"No Sir! It doesn't seem any of these demons can speak our tongue, what are your orders, Sir!"

"You know what to do" he replied as he looked over in the far distance with a curious face.

"Yes Sir! Wizards! Burn them, they are no longer required."

The wizards nodded as they heard the order, they moved their hands in a circle as they chanted words, a moment later a spark lit up in the centre of their movement as the spark grew to the size of the basketball they pushed their hands forward.

Sasha lifted her head as she kept on crying as her organs burnt, turning into ash, she saw in the corner of her eye a creature with strange-looking legs but it was hard to see within the fog but she recognized those legs, she tried to scream out to her son to run away but her voice gave up long ago.

'Goodbye, my son.' She smiled one more time, before her body turned into charred ash. Her ashes chasing after her son, protecting him. Her spirit guiding him to safety.
