Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Thinker

The following night.

It took Sirus 2 whole hours to drag the huge carcass to the river. Leaving a trail of crimson blood along the way, it attracts several cricketers and unwanted attention.

Sirus still soaked in blood from head to toe, droping the carass and walks over to the river as his body is traumatized from the gore and blood as well as intestines dangling all over the trees and branches. With unsteady movements, he loses his balance a few times but manages to continue standing strong until he reached the river.

He places his palms on the dirt as he kneels down, moving his head forward to see the image of his self reflected back from the moonlight shining gently above. The river soundly moves with the flow of the wind.

Sirus widened his eyes in fear as his once beautiful elegant silky white hair now dyed dark red, as well as an intestine hanging off from the top of his head, where it seems to be stuck on his still growing horns.

He screams in horror as he hurriedly splashes water on his body, as well as trying to pull off the intestine.

The river once soft blue in colour, now slowly turning red from the blood, now flowing down the river.

He manages to pull off the intestine and throws it to his left with a swift swing of his bloodied arm. He starts crying whilst still kn the river, black tears drip down his horrid face.

"I need to calm down and breathe, just breathe" He closes his eyes and breaths in and out slowly several times before opening his eyes. He turns his head to his right where he sees small creatures scurrying off with the intestine.

Getting up slowly and does a quick stretch. "Good, I calmed down." He mutters to himself, he starts to pick up and find dry pieces of sticks, twigs, and branches.

"I think… I remember how to make a fire, just need to put dry grass in the centre then place the sticks on top like a tepee and place rocks around to support the sticks." Sirus repeated the steps, going through it in his mind.

"Now I made the camp fire, next step is to find flint to cause a spark so the grass and twigs can ignite the rest." Muttering to himself, he figures that he has no clue where to find flint. So he goes for plan b.

"A dry pieces of bark and some fire starters in the middle, and a stick. Sigh, let's get to rubbing." Sirus slowly starts to twist the stick back and forth, slowly picking up pace.

"Finally, it's smoking." Sirus smiles softly at his achievement. Gently putting down the fire starters and slowly blowing on it to give it more oxygen to ignite.

He smiles in satisfaction. "Finally, fire."

Standing up. He walks over to the carcass nearby, readying himself. He starts to cut the abdomen, pulling everything that wasn't necessary out, taking only what he needs. Not bothering to save the hide, he continues to cut up pieces of meat.

An several hours passes by and the meat wasn't cooked all the way through. But it was good enough for Sirus, he chews with his eyes closed in satisfaction, as the juices of the meat drools down his mouth.

Eating the last piece of semi-cooked meat and this time he opens his eyes, although his body was dying to sleep, he had to test this theory of his. He grabs the uncooked meat, and takes a small bite at first.

As he expected.

"The somewhat cooked meat tastes better for sure, but why does the uncooked meat taste good? I can tell the difference but." Sirus was too full and sleeply to think about the why and how. Leaving the thought for morning, he throws a few branches to the fire so it lasts throughout the night. Curling up into a ball, Sirus shuts his eyes.

The Following Morning.

The beautiful sounds of the birds and the forest slowly wakes up Sirus.

"Arhhhhh…" Yawning whilst sitting up. He notices the river turned back original colour, light blue.

The sun shining brightly, Sirus looks down and then his arms and realises his still sticky and has dry blood stuck on him from last knight. Standing up with a stretch up, still shaky but he soon calms his nerves down. He takes off his shirt and pants and washes his clothes first and after a few minutes pass, he hangs them on a branch to dry, then he slowly dips in the river. The cold sensation runs up and down his spine but he ignores the cold water and rubs his body to clear the blood. As well as the skin and flesh stuck between his claws.

"If something similar happens like what happened last night then, I need to not freak out anymore. I was lucky to survive last night, this will most likely be how my life will be from now on." Half an hour pass by and Sirus successfully cleaned his body and as well as the flesh stuck between his claws. He proceeds to clean out his hair, slowly turning back to its beautiful silver hair.

"It's back to silver again but… It doesn't look as good as it did before, I need to find a brush, don't think I can make one"

He walks out of the river and shakes his head rapidly to dry off his hair faster. He touched his hair in satisfaction. He walks over to the tree where he hanged his clothes and touched it and notices it's not fully dry just yet.

"What should I do now?" He thought for a while but couldn't think of anything, So he jumped onto a branch and sat on it until his clothes were dry. He still wore his undergarment so his private parts weren't showing. As time passes by he looks at his arm and his biceps with a confused look.

"I'm I going crazy or has my body gotten? Buffer? I swear they are bigger than they were before? Does it got to do with the animal I ate last night?" He leans forwards and sees the carcass of the animal. Only the bones could be seen. "Seems whatever came last night picked the bones clean off." He stared at the dense bones leftovers and thought of something.

"I could try to make a weapon out of the bones? But I'm used to using my fist and feet for combat. I wouldn't feel comfortable If I used something like a bat or sword, though I suppose I could get something like a sword just in case. I can use the bone from the legs to make some sort of spear, and the ribs to make as a knife, so I don't have to use my claws anymore.

He grabbed the branch with both of his hands and fell backwards and softly landed on the floor. He walked towards the carcass and grabbed a long bone from where the leg would have been and snapped a bone from the ribs. He looked around for a sharp-looking rock, and after a couple of minutes, he manages to find a decent looking rock that should do the trick. He places the items near the tree and touches his clothes again and smiles, he puts his clothes on and picks up the items and continues to walk towards the village while slowly chipping away his bone sword and bone knife.
