Having finally stopped eating, Gao Yang found the time to ask about something he cared more about.
"What about Peter? Are those Russians still here?"
Farouk shook his head and said, "Peter left a long time ago. Not long after you guys left, he was sent back to Russia. Then, the remaining instructors left about twenty days ago."
After saying this, Farouk spoke softly, "General, before Instructor Peter left, he asked me to pass on a message to you. He said that he still owes you a favor, and if there's a chance to meet in the future, he'll invite you for drinks. If not, then you won't get the chance."
Gao Yang felt a sense of loss and spoke solemnly, "What ended up happening to his leg? Were both legs ruined, or could one be saved?"
Farouk replied softly, "Fortunately, one leg could be saved."
Li Jinfang let out a long sigh full of regret. He could empathize with Peter's plight the most, as they were essentially cut from the same cloth.
