The sounds of the new year comes through as the people of Las Vegas celebrate the new years eve.
"Happy new year everyone! WOOHOO!"
Samatha shouts at everyone on her balcony while sipping beer, it's the new years evening today and Samantha and her friends go out from her apartment to party at the nearby club
"Hey Samantha, why don't we go to a casino later after a few drinks?"
Nathan said to her while their friends are ordering beer from the stands
"Sorry, I don't have cash on me today. But we can go tomorrow with Emily and Rose if you like."
"Sure thing Samantha, you can always count on me. By the way, did you hear the news? It says that a new virus is spreading on Florida, I'm not sure if the military has contained it."
"Oh, we will be fine, besides it's in Florida and the world health organization will contain it soon and stop the rapid spread."
Samantha's friends soon returned with 3 cases of beer and a few dishes for a perfect night. After the party, Nathan went to a casino and he gambled his money away. Nathan lost 40,000$ that night and he soon goes home.
The next day comes and Samantha goes to a nearby grocery store to shop for groceries. On her way, she saw some treatment tents near hospitals but she brushes it off as normal hospital behavior. After samatha got to the nearby grocery store she hears from the news that a man was tested positive on the new virus from Florida called the X Flu.
"Wow, I hope it doesn't spread too far and start a pandemic with this."
"I know right, baby girl..."
A cocky young man approaches Samantha and he starts flirting with her and he keeps following her even after getting turned down by Samantha
"Hey baby girl, wanna go to my place later on and do some... Fun stuff?"
"Leave me alone, will you? Get away you creep!"
"Oh come on baby girl, it's not like I'm harassing you or anything. Just come in with me and let's have some fun."
"HELP! A GUY IS HARASSING ME!"
Some cops from the area rush to Samantha's scream and they stopped the guy from harassing her, they forcefully yank the guy from Samantha but just then the guy starts acting feral, he soon punches one of the officers and bites one of them. The other officer from the scene pulls out his gun and he shoots the freral guy to free his colleague.
"W-what happened? Are you okay you two?"
Samantha asks the officers and they confirm that they are okay and the other officer is taken to the hospital for his bite
"The world today is so messed up, what even is happening today?"
3 days pass after the incident and the news soon reports that the X Flu has mutated to a new variant called the Angels Variant because it apparently caused a man to die after being tested positive for the virus, several more people across America has been infected with the X flu and a good amount of them are infected with the Angels Variant
The following evening, Nathan makes a group call with Samantha, Emily, Rose, Jacob and Rex to discuss about each other's life
"Hey, have you all heard that the whole country a 1 day lockdown today? This virus thing is so severe now"
Nathan delivers to the group
"Not yet, I'm just currently planning on going to California later but I guess not now"
Jacob replies
"What even is the deal with this virus? Like I just saw a man bite a police officer 3 days ago"
Samantha breaks to the group and Emily and Rose confirm that they have seen the news on the tv
"So what now? What can we do now, the WHO said that the virus spreads through contact with the bloodstream so it's not that deadly.*
Emily reasons
"The WHO also said that the virus spreads through contaminated food that came from India."
Rex counters Emily
"Just be safe all of you now guys, school is gonna start in 3 days so let's just prepare"
Rose says to the group
"Yeah, we should be worried about school instead of this X Flu. Alright guys, I'm gonna leave now"
"Me too"
"Yeah, bye guys"
3 days later, the school resumes as normal but nothing seems normal as social distancing is observed
"Hey Nathan, let's go to class together with the others!"
"Sure thing, Samantha."
Nathan and Samantha soon sees Emily, Rose, Rex and Jacob and they go to their classroom. On their way to the classroom, Nathan bumps on the nerdy Korean girl named Su Yeon and he quickly apologizes
"Hey Nathan, wanna hang to my dad's shop later? We can check out his gun collection."
"Sure Emily, we can all go there"
All of them soon arrived at the classroom where the class starts. But 50 minutes into the class, a student goes inside the class room. The student has red eyes and a bloody mouth and the student started attacking the teacher so everyone started running to the nearest exit but they too got attacked by feral students.
"What is happening? Everyone is attacking each other?!"
"Everyone, let's go out!"
Nathan grabs a pen and he stabs a student that is walking to attack Samantha
"Thank you, Nathan."
The group soon managed to go to the school cafeteria and it is overrun with feral students so they hide at the kitchen
"What is happening on our school? Hey Jacob, you have your phone, right?"
"Yeah, why is that?"
"Listen to the latest news now so we can grasp the situation better"
Jacob soon opens his radio app on his phone and they listen to the latest news
"Breaking news: a new variant of the X Flu has been rampaging the whole country and the president finally declared lockdown, all the schools will be visited by military personnel for evacuation. The new variant is now called Devil's variant."
"What?! A new variant?!"
"Shh! Don't speak to loudly boy, the dead will hear you"
The Korean girl Su Yeon says to Jacob as he is speaking too loudly
"Min Su Yeon? Is that you? Why are you here?"
"I'm here before cuz I'm eating, arm yourselves now. As you heard, the military will be going here to evacuate all of us, get those knives now and gear up!"
