Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Luna bought a hot dog for the Golden Retriever and treated the dog as they started walking back to the set. A crew member who had been searching spotted them and ran over. "Sir, you found Max—thank God!"

Alex replied calmly, "Yes. Be more mindful next time."

As the crew member took the dog away, Luna dusted her hands and said, "So, my work here is done. I'm going. I'm a busy girl."

In truth, she was free, but she didn't want to hang around with a total stranger now that Max was gone.

"Yes, and thanks for the help," Alex said.

"Wow, you can be appreciative too," Luna teased.

"Huh? What do you mean by that?" he asked, a bit caught off guard.

Luna just brushed it off. "Bye, I'm going," she said, waving a hand as she called for a taxi.

She gave her address—somewhere near the Westin Apartment complex—and got in the car, disappearing into the flow of traffic. Alex stood there for a moment, shaking his head. Something about her was... odd. Not in a bad way. Just familiar. Like a forgotten tune that somehow still lingered in his heart.

He muttered to himself, "What's wrong with me today? Why did I behave like that with an unknown girl?"

After the shooting for the Chewee Dog Food brand wrapped up, Alex bid goodbye to the crew and walked toward his car. Just as he was about to start the engine, the female singer Liliana approached.

"Sir Alex, could you give me a lift? My driver's late—went out for lunch and hasn't come back," she said with a sweet smile.

She was lying. In truth, she had instructed her driver and assistant to leave just to create this opportunity to be alone with Alex.

Alex glanced at her and shrugged. "Okay, get in."

Liliana slid into the front seat, trying not to show her excitement. As they drove, she glanced sideways. "Are you free tomorrow, Sir Alex?"

"No. I'm busy with work," Alex answered flatly.

Undeterred, she kept the conversation going, throwing questions at him and sometimes answering them herself, laughing a little too loudly. She was trying her best to impress him.

Alex responded with brief, polite replies, his mind elsewhere.

When they finally reached her residence, Liliana sighed. "Well, I've reached," she said, stepping out of the car.

She lingered at the door, hoping to invite him in for a drink, but before she could speak, Alex said, "Well, I'm going," and drove off without a second glance.

Liliana stood there, her perfectly practiced smile slipping ever so slightly.

Luna Pov -

At home, Luna was chatting with Bella in their cozy living room.

"Wow, your hair looks so beautiful it's really nicely done," Bella said, admiring the soft curls framing Luan's face.

Bella grinned. "Oh! And guess what? I finally booked my kitty from my cousin."

"Oh really? So that's why you're at home and not on a kitten heist mission."

"Exactly. If I hadn't, you'd be seeing nothing but a dust trail behind me."

They both chuckled, and then Luna leaned back, her expression thoughtful.

"You know," she began, "I saw this really weird guy today. Like, seriously weird. He was pulling on a poor dog's leash so roughly, and the dog wasn't even moving—it looked hungry and tired. I told him to stop being so harsh, and you know what he said?"

Bella raised a brow. "What?"

"He said, 'It's not my pet. I paid for it.' Like… what?! Who even says that?" Luna crossed her arms in frustration. "Typical cold-hearted capitalist—only thinking about profit and perfection." She started chattering about Alex.

Bella stared at her for a moment, then smirked. "You've talked more about this guy in one breath than you've spoken about any guy in the past year."

Luna blinked. "What? No, I haven't."

"You totally have."

Luna huffed and turned away. "Whatever. He was just annoying."

But even as she brushed it off, she found herself replaying the moment in her head—the dog, his face, and that strange feeling of familiarity she couldn't quite shake.

Suddenly, Luna's phone buzzed in her hand. She glanced at the screen, heart skipping a beat when she saw the unknown number. With a mix of nerves and curiosity, she picked it up.

"Hello, Miss Luna?" a cheerful voice came through. "We're happy to inform you that you've been selected for the Guest Relations Officer position at Walton Regency Hotel. Congratulations, and welcome aboard!"

Luna's eyes widened. "Wait—really? I got the job?" Her voice was breathless, and she nearly jumped from the couch.

"Yes, absolutely! Your interview was impressive. You can begin from tomorrow. To help you adjust to the environment and workflow, you'll be on a six-month probationary period. After that, based on your performance, you'll be offered a permanent position."

Luna placed a hand over her chest, trying to calm her racing heart. "Thank you so much! I'll be there. I won't let you down!"

After a few more instructions about timing and dress code, the call ended. Luna turned to Bella, her face lit up with joy.

"I got it! I got the job at Walton Regency!" she squealed.

Bella clapped her hands excitedly. "No way! That's amazing! I knew you could do it!"

Luna collapsed onto the couch, dazed with happiness. "This… this is my chance. A real step forward."

Bella grinned. "And maybe you'll run into Mr. Capitalist again."

Luna narrowed her eyes playfully. "Don't even joke about that."

Bella smiled warmly. "I knew you would. You deserve it. But don't you dare forget me when you're surrounded by billionaires."

Luna smirked. "As long as you don't steal that kitten before it's weaned, I won't."

They both burst out laughing, their voices echoing in the cozy apartment as the evening light streamed in—marking the start of a new chapter for Luna.

But somewhere deep down, she wasn't sure if she was more excited about the job—or the strange feeling that this was only the beginning.
