The Gold Coast Killings refer to the 2009 home invasion and triple murder of Brock and Davina Husted and their unborn child in their beachfront home in Ventura County, California. On the night of May 20, 2009, an intruder wearing black clothes and a motorcycle helmet entered their home, demanded money and jewelry, sexually assaulted Davina, and stabbed the couple to death. Their 9-year-old son witnessed parts of the attack but was unharmed, as was his 11-year-old sister. The intruder fled after the attack.
The case shocked the community and remained unsolved for nearly a year until Joshua Packer was linked to the crime through DNA evidence found on a motorcycle helmet visor left behind. Packer was arrested and charged with three counts of murder, robbery, and burglary. In 2015, he pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
The killings were described by the Ventura County Sheriff as one of the most tragic multiple homicides in the county's history. The case has been featured in media such as NBC's "Unsolved Case Squad" and Dateline NBC1456.
