Katherine came out of the bathroom. The steam was still spreading in the bathroom, just like her complicated feelings right now.
She changed into a simple and comfortable outfit. The fabric felt soft against her skin, but it could not smooth out the wrinkles inside her heart.
She stood in front of the mirror. Her face looked pale like paper. If she went to see Old Master Zhou like this, he would definitely ask what happened.
To hide her strange feelings from her family, she picked up her makeup tools and put on light makeup, trying to cover the pain under her eyes and the bitterness she could not speak.
After everything was ready, Katherine left exactly on time.
It took about forty minutes to drive from her home to the Zhou family's old house.
On the other side, Charlotte had been staying in Andrew's office since she left the hospital.
When she found out Andrew was going back to the Zhou family old house for dinner tonight, a calculating light flashed in her eyes. She said to Andrew:
"Brother Andrew, I haven't seen Grandpa for a long time. Since I came back, I haven't visited him. Today I want to go with you."
Andrew didn't mind. In his memory, Charlotte used to visit Grandpa often.
They grew up together since childhood, so to him, it was normal to accompany each other.
But Charlotte's thoughts were not so simple.
She happily thought this trip to the old house was a good chance to look around. In her subconscious, she already saw herself as the future lady of the Zhou family.
It was as if the old house was her territory, carrying her ambition for the future.
Andrew signed the last file, stood up, took the suit jacket hanging on the chair, and calmly said, "Charlotte, let's go."
Charlotte answered happily, "Okay, Brother Andrew."
Then, with a big smile, she followed lightly.
Andrew opened the office door and met Assistant Ryan, who was just coming in.
Before Ryan could speak, Andrew said first, "Ryan, you don't need to drive today. I will drive myself to the old house."
Ryan nodded slightly, "Okay, boss."
He watched them leave and sighed silently, thinking:
Boss, when will you realize you don't like Miss Su at all? The person you really care about is someone else.
But he could only keep these words in his heart and not say them.
In the car, Charlotte sat in the front passenger seat.
"Brother Andrew, I don't know if Grandpa will like the gift I bought."
Andrew's face showed little emotion. He said casually, "Since you bought it, Grandpa will like it."
His eyes focused on the road ahead, unaware this seemingly ordinary trip home would soon become stormy because of the different thoughts of some people.
Andrew parked the car in the familiar wide courtyard of the old house.
After parking, he and Charlotte got out and walked to the trunk together to get the gifts.
When Andrew closed the trunk quickly, the sound of another engine came, and another car slowly entered the yard.
Katherine's car arrived, and the moment she got in, her eyes were drawn to Andrew and Charlotte standing side by side.
There were few parking spaces left in the yard, only a small space next to Andrew's car.
Katherine had no choice but to drive toward them and slowly park.
From the moment Katherine's car appeared in the yard, Andrew's gaze was like a magnet, closely following her with complicated emotions flashing in his eyes.
Why was this woman here?
Could it be she knew he would come here so she…
Charlotte, standing nearby, saw everything clearly. Jealousy suddenly rose in her chest, burning fiercely. She clenched her teeth and secretly tightened her fists.
But she quickly adjusted her expression and spoke in a very gentle and sweet voice:
"Brother Andrew, let's go in. Grandpa must be waiting anxiously."
She tried to pull Andrew's attention back this way, but Andrew seemed not to hear her. He still stood in place, eyes locked on Katherine's car.
After parking, Katherine calmly took her bag and got out.
She acted like she didn't see Andrew and Charlotte, walking straight to the trunk to get what she brought.
At that moment, Butler Li came out of the old house. Seeing Katherine, his weathered face immediately showed a warm smile. He quickly walked up and said:
"Young Madam, you're here. Let me help you with your things."
Katherine smiled and replied, "Thank you, Butler Li. I can do it myself."
Andrew saw Katherine ignoring him like this, and an unnamed anger suddenly rose inside him. It was like a power swelling in his chest.
He frowned slightly and raised his voice deliberately:
"Charlotte, let's go in."
His voice echoed in the quiet yard, carrying a hint of stubbornness.
Hearing the voice, Butler Li noticed Andrew and quickly respectfully greeted him:
"Young Master, you're back. Come in quickly. Old Master has been waiting for a long time."
But when Butler Li looked at Charlotte standing next to Andrew, his face suddenly darkened. A subtle look of dislike flashed in his eyes.
He had worked at the Zhou family for many years and knew the complicated feelings there. He had heard about Charlotte's character and intentions and naturally did not like her.
Charlotte noticed Butler Li's warmth toward Katherine and coldness toward herself. Her anger grew stronger. She felt like she had been slapped hard.
In her heart, she planned to find an excuse to drive this ungrateful old man out of the Zhou family after she married Andrew.
Andrew deliberately quickened his steps and went inside ahead of Katherine.
But seeing the two walking side by side ahead of her, Katherine really wanted to turn and leave.
Butler Li seemed to notice the problem between them and comforted Katherine:
"Young Madam, Old Master only called for you and Young Master. Miss Su might have just come by chance."
Katherine forced a small smile.
"Butler Li, you don't have to explain. It's okay."
She and Andrew were divorced. Whoever he brought did not concern her.
Old Master Zhou sat on the large soft sofa. His cloudy eyes stared tightly at the door.
When Andrew and Charlotte slowly walked in, his already worn face looked even more gloomy, as if covered by dark clouds. His wrinkles seemed deeper.
Charlotte entered with a clear and pleasant voice. She raised a bright smile and said:
"Grandpa, we're back. We haven't visited for a long time. How have you been lately?"
Old Master Zhou felt a strange emotion after hearing this. He narrowed his eyes slightly. A subtle flicker passed through them, then he coldly looked at Andrew with endless disappointment and displeasure.
Then, with no expression, he slowly said:
"Uh, Miss Su is a big star. What would an old man like me have to care about."
