Not a stranger, but not really a friend either—more like a friend of a friend who just happened to be in the same class.
When he thought of Might Guy, his first reaction was: dead last.
Though he himself was also called a dead last, Obito felt that he was just a bit unbalanced academically. He was decent at ninjutsu and shuriken throwing—just terrible at theory.
It's just that the other Uchiha were too outstanding. They excelled in every subject, which made him, an imperfect Uchiha, seem like a hopeless case.
But Might Guy was different. He was bad at theory, bad at ninjutsu, and ranked near the bottom in most subjects—an officially recognized dead last.
Yet at this moment, Might Guy was showing more patience than him. Even though he was scratching his head in frustration, Guy was still seriously trying to tackle the problems.
Obito recalled a bold statement Guy once made when being laughed at:
"I believe that if I keep working hard like this, I'll become the strongest taijutsu ninja!"
Obito wasn't one of the people who laughed at him, but when he heard that, he still scoffed inwardly. He didn't believe Guy could become the so-called strongest in taijutsu.
But now, his opinion had changed a little. Whether Guy could become the strongest taijutsu user was uncertain, but he'd probably surpass many of the people who once mocked him.
"Maybe becoming friends with him wouldn't be such a bad idea," Obito muttered. That way, they could gang up on that annoying Kakashi.
Seeing Guy tirelessly working on the exercises, Obito also picked up his pen and began writing diligently, racking his brain to solve the problems.
Watching this scene, Auron wore a thoughtful expression.
He hadn't expected the combination of these two to create such chemistry. Even the impatient Obito had been affected, calming down enough to focus on studying.
Maybe he could use similar strategies in the future to stimulate Obito's training.
Once the two finished, Auron helped grade their work.
Obito got three correct, Guy got two.
"Sigh, still not four. I really gave it my all," Obito collapsed onto the desk, looking completely burned out.
"Add five hundred laps to my evening run," Might Guy added the punishment to his workout plan.
Seeing this, Auron comforted them: "You're actually only five questions away from passing. And you already improved by one question in just an hour. Doesn't that make you feel a lot better?"
Obito and Guy thought for a moment—it did sound kind of reasonable. Passing and mastering ninjutsu didn't seem so far away after all.
With his comforting done, Auron smilingly pulled out two fresh test papers.
Obito looked at the brand-new tests on the table, thought about the three weekends left before the exam, and momentarily blacked out.
But he could only pick up his pen and force himself to continue. If he gave up now, wouldn't all the previous effort be wasted?
At that moment, Shisui, having recovered his chakra, began another round of Fire Release training. Fiery dragons flew through the sky, drawing Obito's attention.
"Sensei Auron, if we learn your jutsu, does that mean we're your disciples like Shisui?" Obito suddenly asked.
"If you want to be, then you are," Auron replied ambiguously.
"Hehe, since we're bound to become your disciples eventually, why not start teaching us now?" Obito laid bare his intentions.
Auron gave him a skeptical look. This was a setup he'd orchestrated, but even so, that escalated quickly.
Obito patted his chest and promised, "Sensei Auron, it's not that I don't want to study anymore—I just think we can do both at the same time."
Then he pulled Might Guy over and said, "Right, Guy?"
"I think Obito's right, Sensei!" Guy also wanted to learn the Leaf Whirlwind soon so he could challenge Kakashi.
"What if you both fail to pass the exam?" Auron asked instead of agreeing right away.
"Then we'll do whatever you say, I promise," Obito replied confidently.
"Same here," Guy nodded.
"Hm…" Auron put on a conflicted expression, as if still hesitant.
"Sensei Auron, trust me! I'll definitely study seriously and won't disappoint you," Obito added quickly.
"Me too!" Guy said, clenching his fists.
"Alright then. I believe you'll keep your word. Once you finish this test, I'll teach you Great Fireball Technique and Leaf Whirlwind," Auron said, pretending to be persuaded.
"Yes! I knew Sensei Auron was the best! I definitely won't let you down!" Obito exclaimed excitedly.
He felt like today was his lucky day—not only had he improved his academic performance, but he'd also landed an awesome teacher for free. What a win.
"Sensei Auron, I'll work hard to train in your taijutsu!" Guy said earnestly.
He too felt lucky to have met someone willing to teach him taijutsu.
[Establish disciple relationship with Uchiha Obito?]
[Establish disciple relationship with Might Guy?]
Auron smiled as he looked at the two pop-up messages. Yes, you two just hit the jackpot.
[Relationship established. Current trust level: 2]
[Relationship established. Current trust level: 2]
Seeing both trust levels at 2, Auron nodded to himself. It had been worth going through all the trouble of pretending to be prey to lure them in.
Auron found that trust was hard to build—it clearly took time. If they had only been at trust level 1, the early rewards wouldn't be nearly as good.
[You now have two S-rank (or higher) potential disciples. Skill acquired: "Instructor"]
[Instructor: The knowledge you teach is more easily absorbed.]
A simple and direct skill—but very powerful. It boosts the effectiveness of teaching.
Auron tested it and found it was a toggleable passive skill.
Naturally, he left it on. No reason to turn it off—unless Danzo ever saw him teaching too well and forced him into the Foundation to train others. Then he'd reconsider.
The only disappointment was that his daily "student reward return" chance hadn't increased with the number of disciples—it was still once per day.
He had hoped to feed Shisui a good meal and earn 50 chakra from it. If he cooked daily for all three, that could've been a guaranteed 150 chakra per day—way faster than teaching.
But it seemed he had been too optimistic.
Still, even with only one return chance, having three students was better than one.
Emotions have a threshold. The more frequently it's triggered, the higher that threshold becomes, making future emotional reactions (and thus big rewards) harder to trigger.
With three disciples, he could cycle through them—more jackpot chances, and slower emotional desensitization.
"And for now, the growth rate's pretty good too," Auron thought as he checked his status screen.
[Name: Auron]
[Age: 18]
[Chakra: 4405]
[Skills: Fire Release: Great Fireball, Water Release: Water Wall, Wind Release: Pressure Damage, Instructor…]
Since arriving in this world, Auron had gained 105 chakra points—90 from teaching and student rewards, the other 15 from personal training and disciple-back rewards.
And that was in just five days.
If he focused purely on chakra, he could easily get 100 a week just from teaching—not even counting disciple bonuses.
Still, he felt it was better to focus more on earning A-rank (or A/B mix) rewards at this stage.
The system-gifted jutsu came fully mastered—ready for combat. Not just basics.
Even jutsu of unfamiliar elements came with nature transformation fully included. If drawn repeatedly, it added experience—a very user-friendly feature.
If he had to train these techniques from scratch, it would cost serious time and effort—not to mention figuring out methods.
Still, when he had more abilities under his belt, Auron planned to pivot back to chakra farming. Chakra was the core of a ninja, after all.
"Sensei, I'm done!" Obito said, handing in his test with 120% effort just to learn a new jutsu.
"Me too!" Guy reported energetically.
"Two of you, huh…" Auron felt lucky that Shadow Clone was such a common technique in this world.
He formed a clone and said, "You go explain the principles of Leaf Whirlwind to Guy and demonstrate a few times."
Since one was learning taijutsu and the other ninjutsu, Auron couldn't teach both at once. So he'd use a Shadow Clone.
He taught Obito himself first, while the clone handled Guy.
After half an hour, they'd switch.
Auron wasn't going to be just one person's personal tutor—he'd share his warmth with all his students.
Just like when he taught Shisui, Auron broke everything down with care—truly hands-on instruction.
[You taught your disciple Fire Release: Great Fireball. Grateful disciple triggered bonus! You received Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet (Proficient Level)]
Auron paused. He remembered teaching the same technique to Shisui—but there had been no disciple reward then.
He realized something: he had acquired Great Fireball from Shisui originally. So rewards couldn't be stacked through the same disciple source.
He silently noted this hidden rule.
"Please don't be that 44-hand-sign version," Auron thought, recalling Kakashi and Zabuza's absurdly long-winded Water Dragon jutsu.
It looked cool in anime, but in reality, jutsu with that many hand signs were nearly impossible to use in real combat—unless someone else held the enemy back.
Thankfully, the system's "proficient" version didn't disappoint—he only needed six signs, and it could be reduced further with practice.
After half an hour with Obito, Auron switched roles and personally taught Guy, letting the clone handle Obito.
He also took time to mentor Shisui afterward, constantly rotating among the three.
By noon, Auron personally caught four fish from the river, grilled them over a fire, and served them for lunch—one per student.
"This is amazing! Sensei Auron, if you opened a barbecue restaurant, it'd be packed!" Obito praised between bites.
Shisui and Guy nodded like bobbleheads.
"Be careful not to swallow any bones," Auron said with a chuckle.
