Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 Storage

Xu San is Master Lian's disciple and has been with Master Lian for three years.

Therefore, he can engage in some more in-depth work, such as removing paint and various impurities from wood, and doing some preliminary treatment on them.

He was the third of seven children in his family. His parents found him such a job, as long as he graduated, how can he make a living.

He knows that, and he always takes it very seriously.

That day, he was immersed in work, suddenly heard the master's cry: "Third."

He looked up blankly and saw his master frowning at the other side." Go over and see what your senior sister and the new kid are doing in the library."

Xu Wen replied and stood up obediently. Only then did he slowly realize what was going on.

Of course, he knew about the newcomer. He was the one who had led him in yesterday. His surname was Xu, and he was from his own family.

This kid was a little dull. He stayed here for a whole day yesterday and didn't even know how to ask his master for advice. Master is so easygoing. As long as you ask, he will teach you.

After he arrived today, he had been muttering to Little Senior Sister happily.

Xu San was still thinking that Senior Sister was still a child and could still play with her peers.

Therefore, Master didn't say anything, and the few of them didn't pay attention either.

And then he didn't notice. Now it sounds like they went into the warehouse and didn't come out for a while?

How could this be!

There was a difference between men and women. Even if they were still children, Master didn't care too much about these things. He couldn't do this…

Xu San stepped forward. As soon as he reached the warehouse door, he heard voices coming from inside.

One man was giving orders, the other was answering.

He stopped in his tracks and was a little surprised.

He could already tell from these two sentences that Xu Wen was the one giving the orders, and his Little Senior Sister Lian Linlin was the one who kept answering!

"One dollar at three o'clock every three months." Xu Wen said.

"Okay, it's done!" Lian Linlin said briskly.

"Five stars, one month at four."

"Yes, yes."

"Cross February at 2:00."

"Alright."

The two of them responded to each other very quickly. Xu San listened by the window for a long time, but he couldn't understand what they meant.

However, Xu San could tell that they were cooperating and there was nothing ambiguous. He was finally relieved.

"What are you guys doing?" he asked as he walked through the door.

"Junior Brother San!" Lian Linlin turned around and saw him. He smiled and said," Xiao Xu is so smart. He thought of a way to re-inventory the goods in the warehouse. When the time comes, we won't have to work so hard to deliver the goods!"

Lian Linlin was still young, and she wanted to be a senior sister because she had already joined the family. Xu San and the others had long gotten used to it.

"What method?" he asked curiously.

"It's labeling each piece of wood with a wooden tag and placing it in the order of the tag. He said it would be better to make a wooden shelf, put things on it, and put a list next to each shelf, so that it would be more convenient!" Lian Linlin didn't hide anything. She told him everything. Her eyes sparkled as she looked at Xu Wen.

"But he was so stupid. At first, he asked me if I had a pen and paper. How can we have something for scholars? Oh, right, Xiao Xu, you mean you learned to write?"

Lian Linlin was indeed excited and giggled. Xu Wen was holding a strange piece of wood. He frowned and pondered something. He turned around when he heard that." I know a few words, but I can't write them very well."

"Literacy!" Maybe three's eyes lit up.

" I can only barely recognize it. It lacks pen and drawing. It's not very decent." Xu Wen was a little embarrassed to emphasize.

"You're too amazing!" Lian Linlin looked at him with admiration.

"Hmm…Do you want to learn? I can teach you if you want. Senior Brother Xu is the same." Xu Wen said.

"Is that okay?" The siblings spoke in unison. After Xu Wen answered affirmatively, the two of them looked at each other and smiled foolishly at the same time.

When Xu Wen mentioned pen and paper, Lian Linlin immediately looked at him strangely. He realized that he had made a mistake at that time.

In these times, reading and writing are the prerogatives of a few people, and craftsmen like them cannot have such opportunities.

He had studied calligraphy for two years when he was a child, so he probably knew how to hold a brush. After so many years, he could only read and write traditional Chinese characters, but in front of these young people who had never had the chance, he was already a show-off.

Lian Linlin and Xu San were happy for a while. Xu San suddenly remembered something and said somewhat embarrassed," Right, I heard that learning to read has to be curtailed. I…"

Xu San was still an apprentice. The apprentice only paid for food and accommodation. Of course, he didn't have any money for Shu Xiu.

Xu Wen smiled and waved his hand." Little Master taught me how to identify wood, and I taught you how to read. It's an exchange of equal value. What do you need to cultivate?"

"That's right. I'll teach you well!" Lian Linlin immediately relaxed and said with a smile," But in this case, you don't have to call me Little Master. Call me Little Senior Sister!"

After agreeing on the time for teaching, the atmosphere between the three of them became very relaxed.

Xu San finally picked up a wooden tablet and carefully looked at what was engraved on it.

There was plenty of wood in the old lumberyard. This piece was pine wood, two inches long and five minutes wide. It was originally scrap piled in a corner, but Lian Lin took it for waste.

The wood was cut very flat, and Lian Linlin carved some marks on it. It was a triangle with a curved moon and two small dots next to it.

"The triangle is ironwood. The more moons, the bigger the wood. The dot refers to the number of items in the same batch." Lian Linlin explained to him.

Xu San thought about it and knew the benefits of such classification.

By arranging the wood in this order, they not only knew better, but also found it easier.

"If you have a pen and paper, you can also make an account book. That way, it will be clearer." Xu Wen said regretfully.

"You know how to make account books? I thought only accountants knew these things. You're really amazing." Xu San said admiringly.

This is the biggest difference between ancient and modern times.

They can recognize wood that is so worn out that it cannot be seen with their own experience and eyes without any tools, and they are extremely sophisticated in their own professional aspects.

But in terms of breadth of knowledge, they are far inferior to modern people who have been baptized by a large amount of information.

Xu Wen had only come into contact with a little knowledge about storage in his previous work. Now, he only took out a portion of it, which was enough to make Xu San surprised and envious.

"It's okay, I'll go find my father and ask him for help! Such a big warehouse, let's tidy it up!" Lian Linlin said smugly.

He didn't know what Lian Linlin had said to Master Lian, but Master Lian had been looking at him with a strange and unpredictable gaze for the rest of the day.

However, he didn't call Xu Wen over for questioning. Xu Wen pretended not to see him and went about his own business.

Xu San was very tight-lipped. Only the Lian father and daughter, Xu San, and Xu Wen knew about this matter. As a result, Senior Brother Zhou shook his head helplessly at Master Yao after asking about Xu Wen as usual.

"Maybe I was wrong. This child…spent the entire day together with Lian Xiao and did not do anything serious.

Master Yao's expression was indifferent. He also said regretfully," The evaluation will be over in two days. Send him back."

"Yes." Senior Brother Zhou sighed and nodded.

That night, Lu Cheng heard something and came to look for him after dinner.

"I heard a piece of news. I don't know if you've heard it." He pretended to be mysterious, but he was too young. Xu Wen only found this attitude a little funny.

"What?"

"Yao Clan Wood Workshop will have an evaluation at the end of each month. The Yellow Square also had a competition of strength among the wooden fields, and the final ranking would be conducted. Those ranked lower will have to give way to those ranked higher on the road in the next month!"

"Every month?"

"Yes!"

This was indeed Xu Wen's first time hearing about this. He was a little surprised. After thinking for a moment, he felt a little impressed.

Giving way to salutation is tantamount to raising one's status in dignity. Such rules cost nothing, but they can also mobilize the enthusiasm of craftsmen.

"End of the month…"

"Two days later! How is it? Are you ready for the wood yard?"

"Nothing at all."

"I knew it! Master, Senior Brother is not in a hurry. You can't let it go. If you perform well in the evaluation, perhaps Master will take a fancy to you!"

Lu Cheng was a little resentful that iron could not become steel. Xu Wen raised his head and asked,"Why did you come to tell me?" If I don't perform well, won't I be able to stand out better for you?"

Lu Cheng did not seem to have expected him to ask this question. His eyes drifted around and he finally said," We are all fellow disciples who came in together. Why would I step on you? I saw that you were careless and reminded you!"

He turned away with a feigned resentment.

Whatever his intentions, the information he provided was helpful. Xu Wen stopped him and said a few good words. Lu Cheng was finally satisfied. He reminded Xu Wen a few more words and turned around to leave.

At this moment, a delicate and crisp voice sounded not far away from them: "Xu Xiaowen?"

Little Senior Sister, why are you here?" Xu Wen raised his head and saw Lian Linlin. He said in surprise.

"Have you forgotten what we agreed on?" Lian Linlin pouted in dissatisfaction and glared at Xu Wen.

In the dim twilight, the girl's cheeks were illuminated by the afterglow, making her look as beautiful as a flower bud that had not yet bloomed.

"How could I forget? I just didn't expect it to start today." Xu Wen said with a smile.

"Of course, the sooner the better!" Lian Linlin said.

"Alright then, wait for me to prepare." Xu Wen said.

He turned around and was about to return to his room. When he turned around, he saw Lu Cheng staring at Lian Linlin with a blank face.

When Xu Wen called out, he came back to his senses and grabbed him and asked,"Who is this?"

"Miss Lian is the daughter of Master Lian of the Old Wood Farm. She is now my senior sister." Xu Wen gave a brief introduction.

" So it's her…" Lu Cheng's expression was very hostile. He glared at Xu Wen fiercely and said angrily," Pretend I didn't come today!"
