Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: Coincidence

"The giants clashed with demons, and God of Honor was gravely wounded by Blood Archduke, a vassal of Devil Monarch Farbauti…"

"The Phoenix Ancestor's underworld city-state of otherkind faced massive demon assaults…"

"Elven soldiers were ambushed by demon tribes…"

Such events, all penned by Truman.

Years had passed since he first wrote the story's opening, and everything was now fermenting.

In this time, he grew increasingly adept at combining his "Cause and Effect" ability with the Alhusod Pen, orchestrating fateful coincidences with seamless precision.

Crucially, it all felt plausible.

"Next, it's time for humanity to enter the stage." Truman wrote a story involving demons and human city-states.

"Who to pick?" For humans, he'd be selective. In the story, when a human city-state faced attack, an angel would rise to protect it.

"Who should it be?" Truman envisioned several colleagues.

"Medici, Leodero, Aucuses… oh, and the low-key Ouroboros!"

He got along well with them, but that didn't mean he'd go easy when setting them up.

"You'll do, old pigeon!" Truman recalled Leodero's protected city-states were mostly coastal, perfect for weaving into the story.

"Blood Archduke, pursued by God of Dawn…"

A new story began.

Far beyond, in a divine kingdom protecting city-state devotees, Leodero suddenly felt a chill down his spine.

"What's this?" Lightning crackled around him, a thunderstorm engulfing him as he "sanitized" himself. "A curse?"

"No curse… nothing amiss." Leodero frowned, his near-mystical intuition defying reason.

"Forget it!" Leodero, wreathed in lightning, descended above a city-state.

The city's sacrificial plaza teemed with humans participating in rites, kneeling under the thunder's overwhelming might as they don't darebto look up.

They'd waited long…

But the Wind Angel was never late!

The devotees were simply too devout, starting the rites early to welcome his descent.

"Continue!" Leodero's cold voice thundered across the sky, making devotees tremble, scrambling to resume their Creator worship.

However, rites in Wind Angel-protected cities had a quirk: praises for Leodero outstripped all other angels combined, nearly rivaling the Ancient Sun God…

Not blasphemy or offense, just excessive devotion to the Wind Angel.

"Well done!" Leodero nodded, satisfied with his laudatory prayers, soaring upward, leaving the city-state.

The devotees below sighed in relief, resuming normal rites.

At the coast, Leodero gazed at the vast sea, longing swelling within.

Storm pathway Beyonders belonged on the ocean, singing atop giant waves.

He yearned to rampage through the seas, but they were elven territory. An angel of the Creator barging in would be provocation.

"Surge! Surge!" Leodero, frustrated, vented.

Boom!

Calamity struck!

The entire visible ocean, drawn by some uncanny force, roiled, waves towering like a tsunami rushing forth!

The "Ocean Songster" ability of the Storm pathway Sequence 5, unleashed by a Sequence 2 angel, created such a terrifying spectacle.

Moreover, Leodero's piercing voice amplified the singing's horror, capable of robbing sanity, driving madness.

"Roar! Damn it, who sings so awfully?!" A blood wave erupted from the ocean, flooding half the sea.

A grotesque demon emerged from the blood sea, roaring at Leodero.

Shrouded in blood mist, it revealed massive demon horns and bat-like wings.

Countless eerie runes wove together, potent enough to drive demigods mad, turning them into monsters with a glance.

This demon, the one who wounded God of Honor, had fled Badheil's pursuit to hide here, stabilizing its state, until that roar disrupted it.

Quite unlucky… or perhaps, ingeniously orchestrated.

The demon's crimson eyes leaked frenzied spirituality, injured by the "singing."

Leodero's gaze met the Sequence 2 demon's, time seeming to freeze.

Too many coincidences—both angels felt a daze, yet on reflection, it was eerily reasonable.

The Abyss lay far beyond the three continents, typically accessed via the ocean, so the pursued Blood Archduke would choose a retreat-friendly spot to stabilize.

Leodero's roar was purely instinctive.

Separately, neither event raised flags, but together, they sparked a peculiar effect.

"Die!" The demon bellowed, unleashing the "Ravager" curse with its voice.

"Surge!" Leodero countered with "Ocean Songster," his piercing voice disrupting minds, shocking spirits.

The clashing sounds made the ocean churn and explode, canceling each other.

Leodero manipulated endless seawater into a tsunami, crashing toward the demon.

The demon raised a hand, its blood sea surging to meet the calamitous tsunami head-on!

In that moment, the ocean between them became two writhing dragons in ferocious combat, shaking the earth.

Leodero hurled lightning storms and tornadoes, searing thunder conducting through the water, amplifying the calamity's power, instantly overpowering the blood sea.

"Defile!" The demon's cold voice summoned foul, putrid blood, raining on Leodero.

The defiled blood, as if alive, burrowed into Leodero's body.

Leodero snorted, thunder erupting, evaporating all defiled blood.

The demon's eyes ignited with crimson flames, and Leodero, nearly defenseless, was swayed, a demonic voice echoing in his mind.

"Fall!"

Leodero's body stiffened, halting, as if a demon invaded, vying for control!

His mental state slid toward depravity and rage, his command over abilities faltering drastically!

"Get out!" Leodero's eyes blazed, white-hot lightning bursting from his hair, becoming lightning itself, slaying the demon within.

"Calamity!"

He was Storm pathway Sequence 2, "Calamity" incarnate.
