Chapter 3 - 3 Too naughty to notice...

Indie was chit-chatting with her friends, Emily and Jennifer, not quite long their chilling mood got distorted as Tom barged into their conversation. Tom had vowed not to let her be, always perching around her and she was already getting sick of it, his mere presence inconvenienced her.

She'd found it hard to tell him to keep off from her anytime she tried to, the reason was uncertain to her, perhaps because of their relationship or maybe because of his hardheadedness, as Tom hardly gave up on any entity that got his interest. Talking about relationship, they weren't just friends but family friends. Tom's father and her father were not just friends but business partners, their companies ran the same brand.

As far as she could remember, Tom had been into her right from when they were little, but she'd been the one evading him, though he had everything a girl would want in a guy, riches, good-look… Girls fall at his feet whenever he appeared in public but none of that would won her over not because she was rich but because she found him not to her liking. She couldn't precisely tell why, perhaps because of the familiarity they shared, because to think of that, it was an absurd reason not to find him attractive or it might be because he always hopped around with different girls, but if that was the case, she would have had uneasy feelings whenever she caught him in the act, which she wasn't accustomed to.

"What's up babe" Tom greeted with a slight smile playing on his lips. Tom was this kind of a proud guy, who always felt full of himself and his confidence was overwhelming. Indie gave him a slight smile, she was about to reciprocate the greet, then came again Tom's voice, conveying discomfort. "Why have you been avoiding me all these while?" Tom asked, looking intensively into Indie's eyes as if searching for something. "What do you mean?" Asked Indie. "You have been avoiding me, don't pretend as if you have no clue of what I mean" Smiled Tom. "I don't know what you're pertaining to, Tom, as you know, I had been indulging in so many things these days, always busy, I rarely have time for myself" Indie blurted, as there were silence among others. "Was it about what happened last weekend, you got drunk?"

Indie rolled her eyes in annoyance, which went unnoticed to the other parties including Tom. Tom was awkward, he always brought on unaligned topics. "This is not what we should be conversing here, as you can see I just made my way here with my friends just to have lunch together" She gave him a slight smile, though it was irritating to her to hear what Tom just blurted.

Came to think of it, she hated the fact that Tom wanted to get her drunk at the last club she attended and he succeeded. She didn't know Tom's intention exactly, but whatever it might be, it was never a good one. If it wasn't for her bodyguard, Lucas, whom her father had assigned to watch over her, her fate might have been different, considering she was so vulnerable at that moment.

Lucas barged in when Tom was about to take her away. They engaged in what seemed like a conversation for some time but she couldn't grab what they were saying as she was so tipsy. After they were done with what seemed like a dialogue, Lucas took her away and the next she found herself was in her room at dawn, lying cozily on her bed.

Having a misunderstanding with her father was a norm, for he always tried to restrict her movement but finding it impossible, he appointed Lucas to watch over her. The reason behind her father's over protectiveness towards her remained uncertain to her, though it irritated her but she couldn't fail to notice that it was her father's method of showing affection. She knew she shouldn't be disobeying her father by staying outdoor often but she couldn't help as she had no sibling nor relative to spend time with at home, friends where the only entities that made her day worth living and besides she was no longer a child for peter's sake.

Her mother divorced her father when she was five, leading her father to bring her up all alone. It wasn't pretty difference from that of a mother, as she was brought up properly, needing nothing. Her father made sure she was okay and safe, providing her with all she needed and wanted, nevertheless she still felt a void inside, an emptiness she couldn't really define. Seeking for an antidote for her loneliness, she occasionally spent her time in social places which got her father bothered, as a result, she was assigned to one of his most trusted bodyguards. Though her mother left her at her tender age, she never felt it, Miss Veronica was there for her, she had given her all a mother could give to her daughter.

Judging by her look, some might think she was a seductress, but in reality the opposite was true. She hated the fact that men kept budging around her as though she was the only famine on campus. Tom had asked her out numerous times but she kept evading him. It strained credibility but she'd not had an affair with any guy nor was she interested in anyone. Tom was just too naughty to notice that.

"Calm down, you don't have to be mean babe, I just wanted to clear my instinct, you know. I felt like you were giving me a bit of an attitude and it makes me uncomfortable". Tom said, placing his hand on Indie's shoulder. Indie felt a bit uncomfortable with that, but she comported herself.

"And when did I say that?" Indie gave him a piercing look.

Jackie who was with his friend got his entire attention pinned at Indie and Tom. Though he couldn't really grab what they were conversing about, he was already getting sick in the stomach.
