"Jungkook…" Y/N whispered, her heart aching as she squeezed his hand. "Tell me. Please, what's going on? Why are you pushing me away?"
For the first time, Jungkook's face twisted in something like pain—guilt, regret, and something darker. He inhaled sharply, as though preparing to say something that would shatter the fragile bond between them.
"Y/N…" he started, his voice faltering, "I'm not who you think I am. The person you see… he doesn't exist anymore."
Before Y/N could respond, a knock on the door broke through the moment. The loud, insistent sound of someone desperate to get in. Yoongi's face immediately hardened, and he glanced quickly at Jungkook before moving to the door.
"Stay here," Yoongi instructed, before opening it slightly. He didn't need to ask who was on the other side.
Y/N was left staring at Jungkook, her mind racing. What did he mean by "not who you think I am"? What had Yoongi meant when he spoke of something dangerous? The pieces of the puzzle were scattered around her, but none of them seemed to fit together.
