Chapter 55 - The Survivor Base

Chapter 55: The Survivor Base

A-Biao was starting to regret things.

If only he had conserved his fuel when the apocalypse began…

If only he hadn't indulged himself every day, enjoying the comfort of his car's air conditioning…

By now, he could've just driven out of Phoenix Mountain with ease.

"Brother Biao, you have to take me with you when you leave, okay?"Xiao Mei quickly clung to A-Biao's arm, smiling seductively.

"Of course I will. How could I possibly leave you behind?"A-Biao gently patted her cheek and replied with a smile.

But in his heart, he was sneering.

What a joke.

Did he really keep Xiao Mei around all this time just to satisfy his desires?

No.

Besides that, he had always considered her as backup rations.

A-Biao had always been selfish and self-serving. After experiencing the apocalypse, he had only become even more cold-blooded and ruthless.

Now, he had only one goal in mind—survival.

And to survive, he was willing to do anything.

Once he decided to leave Phoenix Mountain, A-Biao acted immediately.

Over the next few days, he intensified his hunt for survivors.

Having been holed up in Phoenix Mountain for so long, A-Biao had no idea what the outside world was like.

If he left and couldn't find any supplies or survivors in the short term, he'd be in big trouble.

So his plan was to kill a few more survivors to stockpile emergency rations.

Within just two or three days, over half the survivors at the Green Forest Hotel had been hunted down by A-Biao and his men.

Those who remained saw the writing on the wall and fled the hotel in a panic.

A-Biao didn't bother chasing them. The food they'd gathered was already enough to last four or five days.

It was time to leave Phoenix Mountain.

That morning, the rain still showed no signs of stopping, as if it meant to flood the entire world.

A-Biao led Xiao Mei and his gang to the back kitchen of the hotel.

The bikes and tricycles they'd found earlier were parked there.

While food and drinking water were in short supply, Phoenix Mountain still had a decent amount of other materials.

A-Biao gathered some materials and modified the tricycles—adding roofs to shelter riders and carry supplies.

He also found a good number of canvas raincoats.

Once everything was ready, A-Biao and his crew put on their rain gear, mounted their bikes and trikes, and disappeared into the heavy rain—leaving the Green Forest Hotel behind.

A-Biao turned back to look at the hotel, then glanced at the Normadison RV.

He silently made a vow in his heart:Su Chen, just you wait.

It won't be long before I come back—and show you what true cruelty looks like!

Inside the RV, Su Chen and Liu Ling'er had also noticed A-Biao's departure.

"Huh? A-Chen, why are they leaving?"Liu Ling'er asked curiously.

"It's simple. He wants to survive."Su Chen said calmly.

Unlike Su Chen, who had an RV with almost unlimited storage space, others had to rely on external resources.

Phoenix Mountain's supplies were running out, and there were barely any survivors left.

Staying here would only lead to eventual starvation.

If A-Biao wanted to survive, he had no choice but to leave.

What a pity.

Su Chen had gone to the trouble of instructing He Wang and Sun Yuan to round up the remaining survivors—just so he could deal with A-Biao.

He didn't expect the bastard to run away before he even got a chance to act.

Still, it wasn't a bad thing.

At least now he no longer had to worry about keeping an eye on A-Biao.

But what should he do with the remaining survivors?

Let them fend for themselves?

Su Chen thought for a moment, then shook off the idea.

It wasn't that he was some kind of bleeding-heart saint.

Yes, he and Liu Ling'er had more than enough supplies to survive comfortably.

But there were only so many movies, shows, and games in the RV—they would eventually run out or become boring.

What then? Were they really going to isolate themselves from the world and live forever in the RV?

Forget Liu Ling'er—even Su Chen himself might go insane from the monotony.

So he came up with an idea:

He would build a survivor base here at Phoenix Mountain.

He Wang, Sun Yuan, and the others could serve as the first batch of settlers.

Of course…

All of this would only be possible if his own safety was guaranteed first.

The most important thing now was to establish his absolute authority among the survivors.

With that in mind, Su Chen picked up the radio.

"Hey, Brother He."

"I'm here, Brother Su. Go ahead!"

He Wang responded quickly.

Su Chen explained his plan.

"Brother Su, that's amazing news!"He Wang was genuinely thrilled.

He'd wanted to rally the survivors and build something together from the beginning—to fight for their survival.

But he lacked the power, and the group was divided. Not to mention, A-Biao was always lurking like a predator.

Eventually, his efforts had ended in failure.

Now that Su Chen had the same idea, how could he not be excited?

"Brother He, don't get too excited just yet."

"I'll say this now—if any of the survivors try anything funny or refuse to obey me, don't blame me for being ruthless!"Su Chen said coldly.

"Don't worry! I promise—me, Sun Yuan, and the others will all follow your lead."He Wang replied firmly, thumping his chest in reassurance.

After enduring extreme heat, torrential rain, and A-Biao's killing spree, fewer than fifty survivors remained.

Early the next morning, He Wang gathered everyone he could find and assembled them at the hotel entrance—awaiting Su Chen's arrival.

"Woke us up this early… is Su Chen even coming?"Wang Ye yawned and grumbled with irritation.

"Watch your mouth, Dr. Wang."Sun Yuan said coldly from the side.

"The food you've been eating these days was all provided by Su Chen."

"If you dare disrespect him again, I will make you regret it."

Looking at the burly Sun Yuan, Wang Ye flinched and didn't dare say another word.

Moments later, the loud roar of an engine echoed through the rain.

The Normadison RV slowly emerged from the downpour and parked at the hotel's entrance.

The armored panels on the vehicle lifted, revealing Su Chen and Liu Ling'er standing together.

"Ling'er!"Seeing Liu Ling'er clinging to Su Chen like a little bird, Wang Ye's face twisted with jealousy.

But Liu Ling'er only had eyes for Su Chen—she didn't even glance at Wang Ye!

"I've gathered you all here today to announce two things."Su Chen said, looking calmly at the survivors before him.

"First—A-Biao and his crew have left Phoenix Mountain."

The crowd froze for a moment, then broke into cheers.

If there was one phrase that could sum up their feelings about A-Biao, it was:

"The people have suffered long enough under Qin's tyranny."

Ever since the high-heat apocalypse began, A-Biao had seized supplies by force, exploited the survivors, and eventually resorted to killing them for food.

Everyone hated him to the bone.

But A-Biao and his gang were strong, brutal, and merciless—there was nothing they could do.

Now that he was gone, how could they not rejoice?
