Hello, everybody who likes How to Train Your Dragon! Welcome to The Prism of All Dragons, a story that dives into the darker levels of HTTYD. I've wanted to write a How to Train Your Dragon fanfic for so long, but I never had a good idea about how I wanted to approach it. I then discovered Franz Schubert's "Erlkönig", and boom! Inspiration hit me like a mountain falling on me.
"Erlkönig" (or "Elf King" in English) is an incredible song, so you can bet that I am going to share one of my favorite versions of it. The legend is pretty straightforward. The Elf King seduces you (not sexually, so don't worry), and if he touches you, you're dead. That's it. After listening to it, I thought to myself, Heck yeah! I should make a dragon version of the Elf King! And what better way to do that than to have How to Train Your Dragon as my guinea pig?
As I mentioned, this story takes you on a frightening journey with Hiccup and his friends. It's psychological, so it messes with your head a little. If you find it hurting, great! It means I'm doing my job. I've never written a psychological story, so I'm curious to see if I can pull it off. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy this story just as much as I enjoyed writing it. This is not a first draft but rather a newer one.
With that said, let's jump through the portal and dive into the world of How to Train Your Dragon and the Erlkönig.
