Inside the school compound, Elle was wearing an old hood as she squeezed her way past the bickering students. It's same topic always that she got bored with time.
What happened to so and so party , who hooked on who and all stupid teenagers stuff. Mind you she also 12.
" hi there gothic" one guy shouted.she sat at her designated place the window.
No one knows her true appearance always hidden under the hood.Thanks to her great grandfather who reasoned with the school director . But that didn't stop the curses the foul language insults and being isolated.
She didn't mind and she never cared .She saw the teacher coming as others rushed in . She looked up and started scribbing down her own things. As her mind wondered all over.
"Elle Austin!" She heard her name .she looked up surprised the teacher called her.she kept quiet but looked at the teacher under her hood.
" I don't know why even she bother to come to school" one said. " she's an ugly freak" another one joined.
Elle looked around and sighs they never stop insulting her. She breathed in and out and nonchalantly looked out of the window. She really didn't care.
For the sake of her grandfather she tolerated all this.
Not getting any response the teacher angrily left .. Guess today she will have a talk with the principal again.
Why do they even try am not causing trouble am just minding my own business, she thoughts.
She was not ugly on viceversa she was too ethereal. Only she knows how she hates her appearance the beginning of trouble.
"Elle" a soft voice called beside her.Her name was daisy always quiet .she looked at her indicating she speak.Daisy was already used to Elle." Are you not worried you will be expelled this time?" Elle remembered she had already been given a warning. She scoffed stood up an left confidently not minding the judgemental stares.
She took her phone and called the only person she was close to.
"Grandpa" she kept quiet. Mr Wilson new her granddaughter too well to ask questions. " am coming hang in there a minute. " within no time he arrived seeing the lonely figure of his granddaughter broke his heart.He knew he has no much time left and he couldn't do anything to assure her safety.
"Honey are you ok?" As Elle approached took her seat. "Am ok but Grandpa can I not go to school I know all that stuff anyway?" She looked at his Grandpa questionly. "Don't look at me like that you promised until end of this semester. " Grandpa I can't guarantee I won't be expelled tomorrow " she said as she sighs." What did you do again?" I kept quiet she said innocently." " And why didn't you talk or answer?" Grandpa .. I just can't waste of energy" " mmm ? Mr Wilson looked at his granddaughter wondering what she was thinking." And what are you preserving energy for young lady?" " look, they already concluded am a mute freak am just keeping up my reputation. " yeah sure you will die alone as he scoffed driving into their courtyard." Yeah sure old man " as she teased laughing as she got into the house. She was not worried actually she knew her Grandpa is ill and spending more time with him would cheer him up.
" look what we have here," Elle stopped and looked at her Grandpa with unbelievable expression. The most annoying group of flies are here.
Here we go again" she muttered." When will it ever end. She walked past them to her room and closed with a bang. Only silent was left in the sittingroom.
Mr Wilson coughed looked at his daughters family in disappointment. He hate to admit that this was his biological daughter
" what do I owe this visit.? As he Sat down wearily.He looked at his granddaughters and his two sons and looked up tiredly.
Dad can't we come to see you without a reason." David replied. " as if " he scoffs ." I told you since you didn't welcome Elle there's no place for you here."
" Dad you can't be too unfair to us. That girl doesn't even resemble our brother Austin." Gavier shouted. " Get out of my house. Mr Wilson shouted angrily. " dad we are telling the truth." I don't care Mr Wilson shouted my granddaughter I know who she is and I don't care about your opinion. Now move."
They left each protesting. Elle heard the silence and came out of the room patted her grandfather . " you know you shouldn't get angry am used to it." " This has to end Elle. As he moved to his study room.
" Have a good day hun and please behave for me" Mr Wilson pleaded but still he knew it was useless .. he had more things to do. As he left the school he called a number.
There was silent, He sighs " it's time" he said. " when? Replied the voice. Silence . " five days, pick her up take care of her." " you don't need to ask she's my granddaughter also" I know " "am worried about she's getting too beautiful to be real?" " You are getting more long winded as you grow old.
Believe it how you want it you will know when you see her". As he hung up.
Mean while Elle sat down staring blankly at her seat .Something seemed off today but she couldn't tell what it was." Today will be having a new student the teacher announced but that didn't disrupt Elles thought. But a voice disrupted her already chaotic mind. " can I sit here" she looked at him in disbelief and ignored him.
" Is the new guy sick or something he went to seat with freak" He's so handsome it's a sin seating with the horror girl."
The guy didn't mind and sat anyway . " am Ethan he said looking directly at Elle. Elle looked at him and pulled her hood tightly and slept on the desk. " you don't talk do you" he asked again. Elle rolled her eyes. What's wrong with this guy so annoying. She ignored him and entered her dreams.
Suddenly woken up by someone poking her absent mindedly she sat up only to be met with a bewildered look from the annoying guy. The first reaction was the hood. " Damn!"she cursed. As she picked her bag leaving . Can someone tell her why today weird and unusual things are happening?. She went around the school and sat at the far end away from the noise she was really done with this school.
Meanwhile, Ethan sat down for along time not coming to his senses until few guys came up to him.
" what's up man", " where is she, everyone was bewildered. " who?" My desk mate?" He replied looking around. " why are you even looking for that ugly freak?" Another asked. " Ugly?" Ethan asked more of a statement. " More like an angel," he replied leaving them behind.
" dude is he high or something?"Another asked in disbelief.
Think about that freak have you ever seen her face or heard her talk", another stated. There was silence and they looked at each other in shock.
" damn Nicholas why don't you bring your brain to school? Let's just prank her over lunch break." There was mischievous smile in each face, as they head toward the cafeteria.
Unknowingly Elle walked slowly toward the cafeteria with her earphones music loud as ever.
She bought a sandwich and bottle of water and headed toward her usual place.
Just as she walked past some girls one girls tripped on her in the process holding her hood off from her head. Damn she knew she had nowhere to hide and deeply hated the new guy thinking it was him who blew her cover off.
There was gasp as pin drop silence overlapped the whole cafeteria.
Suddenly Ethan was enraged as he entered to see Elle in the middle of chaos as everyone stared at her. He knew the culprits he turned his head and looked at the so called new friends and shock his head in disappointment.
He took off his jacket and moved toward Elle to cover her up as he led him outside the cafeteria.
"Holy f**ck !" Someone exclaimed " if that was ugly then am more than a monster."
" I can't understand why she has to hide like that everyday,"
" I don't know why you have to hide yourself but I didn't tell anyone about you I swear," Ethan explained.
For once in school Elle spoke , " does it matter anyway this is my last day here and since everyone judged me from the first day u have nothing to explain.
She had already text her grandfather and he was waiting for her outside the gate.
" thankyou and goodbye stranger," she said as she handed him his jacket.
Leaving a dazed Ethan.
She looked at the the school building and muttered a silent goodbye .
" need to ask ? " Mr Wilson look at her questionly.
" No,"she replied looking at the window. Summer was approaching.
