Chapter 7 - Combat class (1)

The green fields looked endless. 'so this is where we will be taking combat classes'.

All the main characters were here. The game never really explained classes, it was all just minigames, so I don't know how this will unfold.

Luckily I prepared for classes like these three days ago. I learnt basic mana principles, combat techniques, and defensive magic techniques. Even though I may lack mana and my mana depletes at a faster rate than others. I'm confident that I can last for a few minutes purely on mana, after that I would have to leave everything to my physical stats.

The combat instructor Mr.Peterson arrived at the field just at that moment when I was about to go to the back of the group

He was muscular with sleek gray hair and blue eyes, he carried a sword on his waist.

"Alright people! I am Mr.Peterson, and I will be instructing you on combat. We will learn how to face magic beasts, demons and other people! Bahahaha!!"

Yep, he's the same as I designed him, loud, headstrong and fiery. He doesn't care about social standing all he cares about is strength.

"Now since we're here, I will divide you all into groups of four, each group will face a monster you have to defeat that monster while working together. Now let's make the teams."

'Dammit, why am I in a team with one of the female main characters?!'

I was standing in a group with three other people, a brown haired guy with a shield, a blue haired girl with a staff and a drop dead gorgeous girl with black hair and green eyes.

Candice Stein - one of the female leads- of the game. A Noble. She excels with daggers and a bow. Trained in combat since a young age. She hates useless people.

Well, not that I care, I don't want to build connections with her, but I also don't want to fail this class. Then out of nowhere Candice spoke up.

"Okay listen up, you with the shield will be our tank, block any and all damage from the monster. You with the staff - you're probably a mage right? You will deal damage with me." She seemed to have said everything she wanted to say.

"Uhm, excuse me what do I do?" I asked in a calm voice.

"You stay here, and don't drag us down" she said with disdain.

"Whatever you say." I yawned and sat down

Clearly unnerved by this Candice walked away.

"Yeah that's for the best".

If she has a bad impression of me, she will avoid me right?

The group's went in, one by one, so far only two groups managed to defeat a monster. Group 1- with Benson and Aria and Group 5- with Leon.

Finally came my group's turn.

"Alright, just like I told you, get in position"

Everyone did as Candice ordered. I just stood there yawning, I really shouldn't have pulled an all nighter.

Two minutes into the fight, the tank came flying past me. I expected this when I first saw the monster that the professor chose, a wolf monster named Fenrir with a thick hide and great speed. A monster with a precise weak point. A weak point that's too bothersome to try and find. But of course with [understanding] I could already pinpoint it.

Another forty seconds passed again, with the team slowly losing stamina. The cuts on their bodies piled up.

"Hey, why isn't that guy helping?"

"Pathetic"

"Why would he just watch?"

Another teammate was sent flying. This was now getting old. Candice wasn't in the best shape. She was just barely holding on. With no weak point to shoot, she was utterly useless, her speciality [mana arrow] takes too long to recharge, so she needs time to pierce the Fenrir's hide. And she didn't have daggers, not that it would've helped.

"Haaa... Do I really need to step in for this one? I was hoping to lay low, guess I'll have to make an exception."
