Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Golden Start

Life was disappointing. Death was even more so.

I had lived a life full of disappointments, it wasn't like I had expected much from life the moment I became cognizant and smart enough to understand how fucked my life was. But even then it had managed to disappoint.

I was... somebody who wasn't important, I was 28 years old. Well, I was, now I was a nothing soul drifting across the infinite sea of stars with no direction.

My life was... nothing glamorous, nothing exciting, nothing amazing. Nor was it a spectacular havoc and mayhem. No, I would compare it to a ship sinking ever so slowly in a swamp.

I was born into a poor family with an absent dad. I worked my entire life trying desparately trying to pull myself out of poverty. And I was rewarded for my efforts with my mother dying of a stroke two weeks before my final exam.

As you might expect, I wasn't too thrilled or motivated to take the exam nor was I able to excel when my mother died as I was studying. I couldn't even pay for a proper funeral for her.

I did badly on the exam and then I had to go to a community college and get into more debt while working two jobs to keep up with payments and such until graduation where I managed to find a shitty dead-end job.

It paid just enough for me to not quit and fuel my basic hobbies as well as keeping a roof over my head. And my hobbies weren't even expensive, I just enjoyed anime, manga and novels which were the sole things that kept me sane in my life.

By the time I landed another job which paid well, the light in my eyes had already faded. The passion from my heart smouldered and turned to ash.

I was 28, with no friends, no girlfriend, no family, no house and no notable hobbies other than escaping to fiction. So what if I got a decent job? I had literally nothing else.

As I was pursuing the so-called dream of a well-paying job I had not cared for anything else and as a result, lost everything else. It was not worth it.

And I was going slowly insane from the mundanity of my life, wake up, drink coffee, go to work, work, do overtime to appease my boss, come back home and finally get to enjoy myself.

I envied the books I was reading so much. I wished I could just abandon all of this bullshit and go on an adventure across the world, meeting hot babes and fighting against adversity.

So, when I died I was actually a little relieved, I thought, 'Hey, the afterlife must be better right?'. Hell or heaven, I didn't care all that much. Though I was hoping for some anime plotline where I end up reincarnated in another world I had instead ended up somewhere that looked like the middle of the cosmos with an endless sea of stars hanging above me.

I was incredibly excited and relaxed at first.

Then it passed the 20-hour mark(I was roughly counting) and I was bored out of my mind.

Who would have thought that ending up in the middle of the cosmos after dying could be so... goddamn boring.

The sight is pretty, sure, but I don't even have limbs, I am a grey blob floating across the cosmos. I could only do so much self-reflection before I got bored out of my mind.

Not that I needed the self-reflection mind you, I already did that every day before going to bed. Any more self-discovery and I'd become a Buddha.

So I would have rathered something, anything to break up the mundanity and tiredness I was settled with once more.

And then my prayers were answered.

[Do you desire another chance at life?]

A floating grey and blue panel floated in front of my eyes, displaying a text that bloomed a sense of passion and excitement from the depths of my heart.

The word yes left the confines of my mind before it could go under a review process by the logical thinking faculty of my brain.

This was a floating translucent panel, I had read enough novels to know where this could go, and I was hoping it would.

Answer Registered.

Calibrating...

The Chaos Gacha is online!

I do not know what that is but I don't have ever been harder in my life than I am in my current lack of life.

You acquired the Chaos Gacha, granting you a new lease on life in another world with its assistance.

The Gacha will decide your fate.

You have acquired 3 Gold Random Gacha tickets

World Transfer will initiate once all tickets have been spent.

A... gacha? So a game of chance then. I am not very sure about my luck, I think I illustrated that point very well as I was monolouging to keep my sanity. I have also played very few gacha games before, I tried Fate Grand Order but gave up on it after a week.

So, is there any way I could get some clarification as to how this particular gacha works?

Explanation - Starting Tickets:Tickets allow you to roll the corresponding gacha they align with. The Gold Random Gacha Ticket can give you anything ranging from Items, Familiars, Powers and Skills that are contained in the Gold rank gacha. Simply prompt mentally to roll a ticket.

Explanation - World Transfer: Once all tickets have been spent, you will begin your new world in a random world across all of reality that the user is aware of. Mostly from works of fiction from their world of origin.

Oh, that is a double-edged sword and a half, ain't it?

On one hand, I could land in a slice-of-life world, on the other hand, I could end up in a proper death world like Warhammer 40k or Yharnam.

But who the fuck cares? This system was offering me a new life with superpowers. I was taking it goddammit!

I wouldn't hesitate this time, I'm gonna live my life to its fullest. Just you see.

So, I am not even going to dawdle, hit me with that first ticket!

Rolling Gold Random Gacha Ticket...

A Rare Item!

[Portable Pharmacy]

|Rarity: Rare|

A simple satchel that you can pull out any item that you could otherwise find at an average pharmacy.

Hmm, pretty useful, it's basically the best mundane emergency kit you could have. Absolutely essential if I end up somewhere like a medieval world. I would have preferred superpowers but the utility is not lost on me.

Oh well, next, please.

Rolling Gold Random Gacha Ticket...

A Rare Ability!

[Gale]

|Rarity: Rare| |Class: Emitter|

Allows you to conjure, shape and control powerful gales of wind and air.

Oh hell yeah.

Aerokinesis? Sign me up. I don't know how strong a rare ability is but this certainly sounds useful, I think this will do very well for starting me out with some offensive ability. After all, a new life meant nothing if I couldn't protect my life.

Alright, next, hopefully, this one is as good.

Rolling Gold Random Gacha Ticket...

An Uncommon Trait!

[Lady Killer]

|Rarity: Uncommon|

You are a natural lady killer, women always find you at least a little attractive regardless of their preferences, and a decent chunk of women would consider you handsome.

Good! Yes, that's certainly good, I wanted to lose my virginity hopefully in this life at least. This should at least help with it. Not like I considered myself ugly before but... yeah, I'll take every help I can get.

All Tickets Have been Spent.

Initiating world transfer... please roll the d20 to decide your start.

With that, a d20 that looked as if it were carved from space itself appeared in my hands. Not only that, a dark oak table also came into existence in front of my eyes. I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.

A d20? Is it asking me to do it myself?

Well, my luck hasn't been looking bad so far, so why not? Even if it goes bad I still have a fairly decent ability with me to protect myself with.

I grasped the dice and threw it after shaking it hard, I wasn't taking chances trying to trick or play the thing offering me a new life.

The dice rolled around the table until landing on...

A 18.

...That's...

Very lucky isn't it? Hell yeah!

I suppose I am getting all of the luck I was supposed to have in my previous life in this one. I have zero complaints about it.

Your fate has been decided.

Starting World Transfer...

Good luck.

I could barely make out the good luck before my vision faded.

~Yuji Liberio~

My eyes snapped open, I was on my bed. No, not my bed, but still my bed.

I pulled myself out of bed and rubbed my head, I felt like I was having a hangover despite not drinking at all, probably because of the summarized second set of memories in my head.

I was... Yuji Liberio, I didn't use to be mind you, but Yuji Liberio sounds infinitely cooler than my original name so I am still going to use it.

Anyway, back on track. I am Yuji Liberio, living as a fisherman in Boscaiola village, I had washed up on the shores of Cartoccio kingdom... inside of a barrel?

What the hell was this kid?

After washing up ashore and being pried out of the barrel I was adopted by a fisherman and his wife who taught me their trade and left me their shack after dying due to their boat getting eaten by a sea king.

The folks over at Boscaiola village did not care about my existence much. I was just known as "That fisherman who occasionally drops by" I was 18 years old, well already an adult by this world's standards and made my living by selling my fishing haul at the village and buying groceries there.

No friends, no family, and no real attachments other than this shack I lived in.

Speaking of this shack, it was nice, about the size of a one-bedroom apartment with working electricity.

But then I suddenly stopped in my tracks.

They were eaten by... Sea Kings.

I rushed out of bed and slammed the door open, rushing out and stepping out onto the sandy beach upon where the shack was built and witnessing the azure blue sea that glimmered like a gem under the morning sunlight.

"Haha... Ahahaha!"

I couldn't help but let out a hearty laughter that I hadn't let out in years.

Allow me to introduce myself once more.

I am Yuji Liberio, a former fisherman who lives in the Bosciaola Village in the Cartoccio Kingdom in the East Blue.

That's right, I was in One Piece.

A world of adventure and hot babes a plenty.

It seems like my wishes were answered.

I walked further until my feet were submerged and looked at my reflection in the azure sea. I had unruly shoulder-length charcoal-black hair and amber-coloured eyes. I could see the work Lady Killer had done, I was pretty damn handsome.

Yes, this was perfect.

A/N: I always wanted to write a One Piece fanfic but it never came to me properly, and One Piece gamer fanfics are a dime a dozen. And I decided to try the Chaos Gacha on it and it went unexpectedly well. Yuji is very lucky compared to Yuta and Hakari.

An 18 start, that's one hell of a start. While it doesn't make the journey itself easier it gives Yuji one hell of a start. Writing One Piece is pretty fun, what do you guys think about it?
