Chapter 72 - Chapter 71: A New Heir At Nightwind

There was a sense of anticipation in the air at Barduff Castle. The change, the coming of something great, was felt by all the wolves in the pack. Within the private chambers of the Alpha and Luna, Leah labored, her breath coming in sharp pants as she clutched Jacob's hand.

Jacob whispered, his forehead against hers, "You're doing so well, my love," in a calming yet tense voice.

Leah did not falter despite another wave of pain that made her grit her teeth. She had faced and conquered every obstacle that had been placed in her path. Now she would not shatter.

As the night dragged on, midwives hurried about, encouraging and helping. While Serafina paced outside the chamber, unwilling to leave until she heard of the birth, Henrietta stayed nearby, whispering encouraging words.

Then the cries of a newborn filled the room as the first rays of dawn kissed the horizon. The room went silent, and then there was a burst of happy tears and relieved laughter. The tiny bundle was gently wrapped by the midwife before being placed in Leah's eager embrace.

Gazing down at his son, Jacob's heart grew with a feeling too immense to describe. Although the infant had his mother's gentle features, he was unmistakably strong for an Alpha. His small fingers curled around Jacob's thumb as he extended his hand.

Leah whispered, "He's perfect," as she looked at their child with tears in her eyes.

Before speaking to their packmates, who had gathered nervously outside, Jacob planted a respectful kiss on her forehead. With a firm, proud, and loving voice, he declared, "Our son is born." "A new chapter in the Night Wind Pack's history begins."

The birth of the future Alpha produced powerful howls that echoed across the castle grounds. With his arrival Leah's standing within their pack became secured and revered. Their Luna stood alone as only one. She fulfilled multiple roles simultaneously as their protector and their mother and guardian..

Jacob held his family close as the morning sun rose higher, illuminating the castle with a golden glow. Their partnership would create a new legacy as they united to build a fresh start.

The Naming Ceremony

Barduff Castle hosted its celebratory naming event in its courtyard where the pack observed the ceremony under the moonlit night.

Pack members experienced illumination along their faces through the light from burning torches while they celebrated their new heir.

Cradling their newborn son, Jacob and Leah stood in front of the gathered wolves. With his hands raised in a blessing, the pack elder took a step forward. "We welcome the future of the Night Wind Pack tonight, under the watchful eye of the guiding moon and our ancestors."

Everyone watched as Leah proudly displayed her son to the room. She declared "His name is Nicholas Barduff" while her voice expressed both happiness and deep affection.

The wolves answered the crowd's enthusiastic cheer with one clear and intense call to announce their acceptance of the new pack member.

When he stared at Leah Jacob's eyes burned with deep feelings as he said.

"The future holds greatness for Nicholas Barduff as he matures into an individual who demonstrates both strength and fairness with solid logic. Through his leadership Nicholas Barduff will help our pack surpass previous achievements while preserving the heritage left by our ancestors."

Nicholas slept peacefully in his mother's arms during the night of festivities, feasting, and laughter, oblivious to the fate that lay ahead of him. However, there was no doubt that he was adored, cherished, and the Night Wind Pack's future.
