Chapter 69 - Chapter 68: The Final Confrontation

The battlefield smelled strongly of blood and was a cemetery for the dead. Edmund's forces were being overrun by the Night Wind Pack, the White Dawn warriors, and the Shadow Fang elite, and the clash of steel and wolf snarls had started to subside. After the initial confrontation the true battle still continued.

From within the killing field Jacob stood breathing rapidly. Blood-soaked Edmund Boris rose across from him while maintaining his standing position with his eyes filled with fury and helpless despair.

Jacob snarled and tightened his hold on his sword, saying, "It ends tonight, Boris." "No more schemes. No more terror."

Edmund wiped the blood from his mouth and laughed darkly. He sneered, "You think you've won?" "This war has caused me to bleed." I've given up everything. I won't let you get me.

Edmund transformed into his enormous black wolf, his muscles rippling with raw power, and let out a guttural roar. Jacob did the same, a storm of fury and rage erupting in his own wolf form. The combatants moved around each other in their last fight while the world surrounding them grew quiet.

First Edmund attacked with terrifying speed using his claws to aim at Jacob's flank. Jacob reacted with vigorous jaw movements by attacking while turning to seize Edmund's shoulder.

In a flurry of teeth and claws, they fell to the ground, each delivering vicious blows that splattered blood on the ground.

Edmund was one of the strongest opponents Jacob had ever encountered, and he was aware of this. However, Jacob had a purpose that his adversary did not. He battled not only for himself but also for his pack, Leah, Serafina, and the future they had created together.

Edmund drew back for another blow, and Jacob saw his opportunity. He quickly sidestepped Edmund's blow and sank his teeth into the rogue Alpha's throat. Edmund's choked growl turned into weakened struggles when Jacob maintained his grip.

Jacob finished their dispute with a final powerful move.

The life force left Edmund's body until it rendered him unconscious and his yellow eyes lost their shine.

After a brief period of silence, the Night Wind Pack's Alpha, towering over his fallen foe, let out a triumphant howl.

Jacob returned to his human form, his body battered but triumphant, his breath ragged. Leah was standing at the edge of the battlefield when he turned around, her eyes sad and relieved. He gathered her into his arms and held her tight as she hurried to be by his side.

"It's over," she muttered, placing a quivering hand against his chest.

Jacob exhaled deeply, looking over the battlefield where his warriors stood victorious. "It is."

The reign of terror was finally at an end, and Barduff Castle would rise stronger than ever.
