It was a lovely morning Ethan. Wake up to the soft light of drawn, but there was no time to enjoy it. He rushed through his morning routine, hearing that distant chime of the school bell in the back of his mind. Shoes half- tied, bag slung over his shoulder, he scrambled out the door- just in a time, as the bell rank to the mark the start of another school day.
Ethan was a boy who stayed quite around most people. He didn't talk much and kept his thoughts to himself. But once he trusted someone. He would open up completely . Emma was that one friend. She wasn't just close- she was like a real sister to him. The kind of a person who understood him ever when he said nothing .The school bell rang loudly, signaling theend of another day. Ethan stepped out of the classroom, his bag hanging loosely over his shoulder. He walked towards the school ground and saw Emma sitting under a tree, it's red flowers blooming in the branches above.
Ethan smiled as he approached. "Hey, how are you?"
Emma looked up and smiled back."l'm good. Just enjoying the last moments before summer start."
Ethan nodded."Yeah, I know what you mean. It's hard to believe today's the last day of school."
Emma's face lit up." Yeah, I'm excited for summer break starting tomorrow."
Ethan hesitated for a moment then said, "My grandparents in Japan asked me to come there. They think it's safer because of the war.. I might stay the whole summer ."
Emma looked surprised but quickly nodded." Well, we can still talk on Instagram, right?"Ethan grinned and teased,"Oh,sure. You can talk to Him all summer long, huh?"
Emma rolled her eyes and laughed. "Stop it, you're impossible."
