Chapter 58 - Illusion

In another direction, after Ruminas lured most of the monsters away, the group of three consisting of Achlys, Renji, and Aoi would start heading towards the subway, and then Achlys would split up halfway to go get the farthest component.

Their journey was relatively smooth but then monsters started coming from all directions, Aoi was already shaking as soon as she saw them but Renji quickly reminded her to focus again.

"Cast your spells if you don't want to die!" He said, turning to look at Achlys. "You should do everything in your power too."

Renji charged towards the monsters, his greatsword slashed down and a monster immediately went away, but because there were too many, he was gradually forced back.

At this moment, a monster took advantage of Renji's lack of attention and rushed forward to attack, but Achlys was quicker. He used a sword and killed it.

Renji was about to turn back to thank him when he found that Achlys was still some distance away from him and was fighting the monsters from another direction, as if he had never moved to save him. He was a little suspicious but since he was in the middle of a battle, he didn't have time to wonder.

At this moment, Aoi finished chanting the spell and a medium sized fireball was formed which she shot straight towards the monsters.

It was very effective because this monster was afraid of fire. Renji and Achlys quickly came to support, clearing out the monsters in front to open the way forward.

"Cross this long hallway further and we'll reach a split, boy, are you ready?" Renji asked.

"Of course," Achlys replied, smiling for the first time since they met.

But things did not go as smoothly as they thought.

Halfway through the road, the wall beside him suddenly collapsed, rocks and dirt flew everywhere, temporarily blocking everyone's vision, and then a loud roar rang out.

When the dust cleared, a huge monster with a body made of different parts appeared before them. It was the Abominater that Ruminas had encountered earlier.

The monster immediately attacked, forcing Renji to take out his greatsword to block, but the weight of the attack immediately caused him to fall to his knees, the surrounding floor cracked and sank.

Just as Renji was about to give up, Achlys rushed forward, he jumped up and stabbed the sword into the monster's hand, at the same time a flame burst from the sword burning its arm causing the monster to retreat in pain.

"You… can use magic?" Renji asked in surprise.

Achlys took back his sword and replied, "It's not me, it's this sword."

Renji nodded in understanding. "Hold off the monsters behind, I'll take care of this one," Achlys said.

Renji knew he couldn't beat them so he nodded and returned to the back with Aoi to deal with the monsters that were charging towards them.

Achlys looked at the monster in front of him, without saying anything he charged forward to attack. The monster was heavily damaged from that attack but it still roared to show its might.

But when it was about to use its fist, it suddenly discovered that there were two Achlys in front of it, one on the left and one on the right, attacking at the same time.

It was momentarily at a loss for how to attack.

And that single moment of hesitation gave Achlys the opportunity to gain the advantage, the left side accelerated a bit and thrust the sword forward, aiming straight for the monster's heart.

The monster thrust its arm forward to block the blow, but at the same time its right side jumped up high and slashed straight at its eyes.

"GRAAHHHH"

Black blood spurted out.

The monster's eyes were slashed out, rendering it unable to see anything.

The Abominater roared in pain, its giant arms swinging wildly, hitting the walls and floors, causing everything around him to shake violently. He quickly retreated, keeping a safe distance to avoid being swept away by the monster.

Even though it couldn't see anything, these random attacks weren't easy to approach at all.

Achlys waited for the right moment to reveal its weakness.

He did not hesitate any longer.

The sword in his hand burst into a stream of magical fire from the blade fiercely, the bright orange light reflected in his steadfast eyes.

The Abominater lost its eyes, roaring in pain, its arms flailing around wildly, destroying the walls and floors around it. But no matter how terrifying its physical strength was, it was still just a monster that had lost its sight, no longer able to react as quickly as before.

Achlys took advantage of the opportunity, rushing forward, passing through the monster's chaotic swings with absolute agility. With a breakthrough step, he jumped high, reaqing towards the monster's head. The sword in his hand was ablaze, the flames burning stronger than ever.

"It ends here!" Achlys growled, then put all his strength into the final strike.

The flaming blade cut through the air, slashing straight down, cleanly piercing the Abominater's skull. The flames raged from within, spreading throughout the monster's body, burning it from the inside out.

A miserable roar rang out, the monster's entire body trembled, and then it collapsed. The flames continued to devour its body, turning it into a pile of ashes in an instant.

Renji stood far away, looking at the scene before him, his eyes filled with surprise and admiration. Aoi also relaxed her body, breathing a sigh of relief when she saw that the monster had been completely destroyed.

Achlys took a step back, sheathing his sword. He said nothing, just stared at the slowly cooling ashes, then let out a soft breath.

"Let's go"

Renji nodded.

He swung his greatsword down hard to create a little trouble for the monsters and then the three of them quickly dashed off in the dark corridor.

The three of them rushed forward at full speed. On the way, many monsters rushed out from the rooms on both sides, but Achlys always reacted one step ahead and destroyed them all.

"You're strong!" Aoi praised.

"Focus," Renji reminded.

"Pfft"

No one said anything more.

After clearing the monsters on the way for a while, they reached the necessary turn.

"Be careful!" Aoi said.

Achlys nodded.

Then he turned right while Aoi and Renji went left.

After separating, Achlys followed the map to head towards the green dot, it was three long corridors away from the initial turn so this would not be an easy journey.

As expected, monsters immediately rushed in from all directions, some were familiar but there were also some that Achlys had never seen before , he chose not to fight but to dodge.

As he was about to get close to the monsters, he jumped up, his feet gripping the wall and moving, the monsters were surprised for a moment but very quickly stretched out their arms and tentacles to attack.

Achlys skillfully dodged each attack, but then another Abominater suddenly appeared from the side and blocked his path. Achlys charged straight at it with his sword, but at the same time he created another clone to sneak away from behind.

The clone took advantage of the moment when Achlys was attracting the attention of the huge monster to jump off the wall, it stepped on the monsters and bounced over to the other wall and continued running.

On this side, the monster was about to receive the attack when Achlys's body suddenly disappeared. It turned around and saw that Achlys had already run a long distance away. Realizing that it had been tricked, it became angry and chased after him relentlessly.

"Stupid!"

Achlys continued to use his ability to create clones to pass through the monsters one by one, his clones could flexibly become the main body making it impossible for the monsters to judge unless they had all the clones.

But Achlys always left a path for himself. Every time his clones were attacked at the same time, he would immediately create another clone that would rush forward, then that clone would become the main one and continue to escape.

"Never use everything you have," Achlys thought to himself, he would always leave one or two clones behind in case of emergency.

Achlys continued to charge forward, following the direction the map indicated. Although the monsters were chasing closely, thanks to his ability to create clones and his flexible movement speed, he still maintained the advantage.

The monsters roared behind him, some even tried to climb the walls to catch up with him, but Achlys paid no attention. When he reached a narrow corridor, he quickly created two clones, one in front and one on the left. The front clone continued running, while the left clone jumped on the wall, attracting the monsters' attention.

And as expected, they immediately rushed in those two directions.

Achlys had actually stopped long ago, crouqing in a corner just before the turn. As the monsters rushed past, he only had to wait a second—then dash out in the opposite direction.

A roar rang out as the monsters realized they had been tricked, but by then Achlys had already run far away and he was only a corridor away from the component.

He accelerated as fast as he could and when he saw the spare parts room in front of him, he stopped, his sword glowing with fire. Achlys looked at the monsters charging at him and slashed forward with all his might, causing the fire to flare up immediately.

Not stopping there, he took out something that looked like a bomb from his bag and threw it straight in. A small explosion rang out, causing the rocks to collapse, and Achlys quickly entered the room.

But, inside this room there is also something waiting for Achlys…
