Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Return

After waking up, the first thing Huo Yuhao felt was the immense surge of his extremely pure Ice attribute soul power and the newfound strength in his body.

When he first arrived in the Extreme North, even with protective measures, the frigid cold was hard to endure.

But now, he felt like the ruler of ice and snow. Even after removing all his thick clothes, the chill didn't bother him in the slightest. It felt like home.

He nodded in satisfaction, knowing that the pain he had endured was worth it.

With Tianmeng Ice Silkworm's guidance, Huo Yuhao easily hunted down a thousand-year-old Ice Silkworm to serve as the second soul ring for his Spiritual Eye. He successfully obtained the legendary Mimicry skill from the original story.

After absorbing the soul ring, his soul power surged to rank 24. He was now a genuine Grand Soul Master.

Looking around and confirming that no one else was nearby, a mischievous idea popped into his mind.

'Since there's no one here, how about I try it out?'

Then, he revealed the two soul rings of his first martial soul:

Platinum, purple.

This combination of soul rings—unprecedented, unmatched.

Switching to his second martial soul:

Blood-red with four golden patterns.

This was an even bigger bombshell.

Feeling the sheer coolness of it, Huo Yuhao couldn't help but keep swapping between his martial souls, striking various poses with each transition.

Platinum, purple, red... platinum, purple, red...

No doubt about it—soul ring reveals really were one of the coolest things in the Soul Land universe.

'Ahem. Yuhao, I know you're excited, but could you not?'

Tianmeng Ice Silkworm's voice rang out in his mind, a little exasperated. He was worried Ice Empress might wake up and begin doubting his taste in successors.

Embarrassed, Huo Yuhao reluctantly ended his little performance and retracted his martial souls.

From now on, he'd probably have to take the original path—using Mimicry to hide his real soul ring configuration for most of his training.

At the edge of the Extreme North.

Still worried about Huo Yuhao's safety, Zheng Zhan had been anxiously standing guard. When he finally saw Huo Yuhao emerge calmly from the icy storms, he let out a sigh of relief.

"Haha, brat, you finally came out. I was about to die of worry."

"Sorry to have made you worry, Elder Zheng."

As Huo Yuhao approached, Zheng Zhan sensed a faint pressure from his body—a feeling that even he, a Titled Douluo, found unnerving.

But that feeling only lasted a moment before vanishing.

"Huh? That's odd... Did I imagine it?"

Zheng Zhan didn't think too deeply about it. With a step, he soared into the sky.

"You look like you're still full of energy. Let's head back quickly."

Just then, Huo Yuhao felt a slight scare—Ice Empress had just awakened and accidentally released a wisp of her ten-thousand-year beast pressure.

Thanks to his breakthrough, the return trip took only six hours.

Zheng Zhan was now even more convinced that this boy was an unparalleled soul master genius. As soon as they returned to Mingdu, he rushed to find Jing Hongchen.

Meanwhile, Huo Yuhao, not in a hurry to give his teacher a surprise, made a beeline for the academy cafeteria and headed straight to the top-floor advanced restaurant.

It was meal time. The restaurant was already filled with noble heirs from all over the empire.

But that wasn't the point. The point was—Huo Yuhao was starving to death!!

He'd been gone for nearly 18 hours, and even after resting post-breakthrough, his stomach was desperately empty.

And this advanced dining hall served gourmet dishes rich in medicinal ingredients and spiritual herbs. With the campus card gifted by Jing Hongchen, he could now eat however much he wanted.

So, when he flashed the card at the counter, the attendant stared at him in shock as he ordered ten times the normal amount of food.

Taking a seat, he waited patiently for the dishes to arrive.

At that moment, the sibling duo, Meng Hongchen and Xiao Hongchen, walked in. Meng Hongchen immediately spotted his bright blue hair and pulled her brother over.

Huo Yuhao was just as surprised to see them.

"Hey hey, Yuhao junior, hello~"

"Hello, mind if we join you?"

"Of course, please sit. No need to order—I've already ordered plenty. This one's on me."

Knowing he likely had the campus card, the siblings didn't argue and took their seats.

It was a four-person booth. Notably, Meng Hongchen sat beside Huo Yuhao, leaving her brother alone across the table.

This left Xiao Hongchen feeling... abandoned.

"Yuhao, I heard Grandfather made you his personal disciple, and you're already hailed as the academy's number-one soul engineer? That's really something."

Meng Hongchen playfully patted his shoulder in praise.

Because she was sitting so close, Huo Yuhao clearly heard how she pronounced his name.

'Did I hear that right? Did she just call me fish-Hao?'

Across the table, Xiao Hongchen's expression turned darker. How could he sit idly while this junior threatened to steal both his sister and his reputation?

"Indeed, impressive. I wonder how strong your soul master cultivation is, junior?"

Meng Hongchen instantly caught the condescending tone in her brother's words and rolled her eyes.

Huo Yuhao only smiled lightly.

"Well, I've just broken through to Grand Soul Master. Not nearly as impressive as you, senior Xiao, who's already a Soul King at only fifteen. Sister Meng too—truly a pair of unmatched talents."

Xiao Hongchen gave a satisfied nod, thinking his status as top genius remained unchallenged.

Unbeknownst to him, once Jing Hongchen learned of Huo Yuhao's ultimate ice second martial soul, he'd immediately consider Huo Yuhao the true number one.

Meng Hongchen pinched Huo Yuhao's now fair and smooth face, grinning.

"Your skin's so soft and white! What's your secret?"

Not long after, the dishes began to arrive one by one—so many that the table was getting crowded.

Xiao Hongchen was the first to notice.

"You sure you can eat all this, junior?"

Meng Hongchen turned and was shocked by the mountain of food.

Huo Yuhao nodded.

"I just came back from the far north after getting my soul ring. I'm a bit hungry."

Soon, the two siblings watched in disbelief as Huo Yuhao devoured dish after dish—gracefully.

"..."

"..."

A twelve-year-old eating like a starved beast, but still looking refined—how was that possible?

By the end, every plate was clean.

Huo Yuhao stretched contentedly.

"Ahh, food in the advanced restaurant is just amazing. Why are you two staring at me?"

The siblings continued to stare.

'This junior... Will I be able to afford feeding him in the future?' Meng Hongchen thought dazedly.

"Are you a pig?" Xiao Hongchen asked without thinking.

Huo Yuhao sighed.

"I told you, I hadn't eaten for almost a day. Normally I eat much more modestly."

Xiao Hongchen awkwardly apologized, and the group prepared to leave.

"Do you know where Teacher is? I have something to report."

Meng Hongchen brightened again.

"Grandfather's at our residence in the academy. Yuhao, come visit us!"

Scratching his head, Huo Yuhao nodded.

"Alright, sister Meng."

She flashed a peace sign. Xiao Hongchen sighed and shook his head.

On the way, Huo Yuhao suddenly paused.

"By the way, sister Meng... how do you pronounce my name again?"

"Fish-Hao! Why?"

Xiao Hongchen covered his face.

Huo Yuhao blinked.

"Which 'yu'?"

"The 'yu' from grilled fish!"

"...It's the 'yu' from raining, sister Meng."

"I don't care! I'm calling you Fish-Hao. It suits you~"

"...Whatever makes you happy, sister Meng."

"Hehe~"

"Little sis, please stop messing around. At least call him properly once in a while."

"Ugh, shut up, stinky brother. Fish-Hao said it's fine, didn't he? Who asked you anyway?"

Sigh...

And so, for the first time since arriving in this world, Huo Yuhao got a nickname.

Reaching the siblings' lavish residence—almost rivaling the Duke's estate—Huo Yuhao was genuinely impressed, especially by the modern villa-style interior fused with classical design.

Following them, he arrived at Jing Hongchen's room.

"If you need to talk to Grandpa, go ahead. We'll wait for you and hang out after."

"Okay, sister Meng."

Huo Yuhao knocked, watching as Meng Hongchen energetically dragged her brother downstairs.

"Come in."

Hearing Jing Hongchen's voice, Huo Yuhao stepped inside.
