Under a clear blue sky, a Pidgeotto led a flock of Pidgey soaring overhead.
On the grassy field, gentle wild Pokémon like Rattata and Oddish were snoring softly, dozing off under a large tree.
Beneath another tree nearby, a boy who appeared to be no older than ten stared blankly at the sleeping wild Pokémon, muttering to himself:
"You can traverse twice?"
Indeed, this was Elijah's second traversal.
His first traversal had taken him to the world of One Piece.
There, he joined Dr. Vegapunk's science team and achieved technological feats surpassing even Vegapunk himself. Unlike Vegapunk, whose stance was always wavering—sometimes aligning closely with the Revolutionary Army, other times serving the World Government—Su Sheng's position was crystal clear: The Navy and pirates are both rotten to the core!
Thus, after mastering all of Vegapunk's scientific knowledge, Elijah chose to collaborate with Sabo of the Revolutionary Army.
Yes, Sabo—not Monkey D. Dragon.
Elijah always felt that the man with a slipper tattoo on his face was unreliable, constantly sweating whenever trouble arose. His subordinates were captured, his close allies betrayed, and yet he never took action!
In the end, Elijah led his army of Pokemon, alongside Sabo and the Revolutionary Army's four commanders, to wage an all-out war against the World Government, led by the Celestial Dragons.
The scale of the conflict rivaled the Summit War.
But when they reached the Empty Throne and faced Imu, that enigmatic figure whose gender remained a mystery, Elijah fell victim to a sinister trap due to his lack of understanding of their abilities.
Sigh, if I had trained in the Pokémon world beforehand and learned how to prevent direct attacks on Trainers, this wouldn't have happened.
What Elijah never could have anticipated, however, was this: after traversing to the One Piece world and dying once, he would traverse again!
This time, to the world of Pokémon.
"Gurgle, gurgle~"
As Elijah was lost in thoughts of his past glories, his stomach let out a thunderous protest.
"Come to think of it… it's been two hours since I traversed, and I haven't eaten anything."
Elijah patted his belly.
"Na-tto, na-tto~"
As if responding to his stomach's complaints, an Oddish flicked out a Razor Leaf, precisely slicing down several Pecha Berries from the tree above Elijah's head.
The berries landed neatly in front of him.
"Hm? For me?"
Elijah's eyes lit up.
"Na-tto, na-tto~"
The Oddish nodded with a friendly smile.
"Yosh, yosh~ What a good kid."
Elijah walked over, picked up the Oddish, and gave it a gentle pat.
After asking for directions to the nearest city, Elijah gathered the Pecha Berries and waved goodbye to the Oddish.
"This place is like a utopia—so different from that wretched world in my previous life."
Elijah munched on a Pecha Berry while grumbling as he headed toward the city.
In his previous-previous life, he'd read One Piece fanfiction where protagonists either became pirates or joined the Navy after traversing.
But to Elijah, both sides were mostly garbage.
Sure, there were exceptions, but the majority? Utterly deplorable.
…
After walking for nearly an hour, Elijah finally arrived at a coastal city.
"First, I'll find an adult to ask where this is."
Elijah thought to himself.
He needed to figure out which region he was in.
If it was Kanto, he planned to seek out Dr. Oak—not Ash's dad, but the next best thing.
With the scientific expertise he'd gained in the One Piece world, becoming an assistant to the noodle-loving professor and securing a foothold would be a piece of cake.
"Hm, her then."
Elijah spotted an elderly woman by the street.
"Are you… really my Eevee?"
As he approached, he heard the old woman's trembling, panic-stricken voice.
Stepping closer, he saw an Umbreon sitting in front of her.
It was likely her Pokémon.
Yet, the old woman, supposedly its Trainer, clutched her hands tightly, her legs shaking with fear as if she might collapse any second.
The Umbreon wasn't faring much better.
For the first time, it saw its beloved master look at it with such terror, and it felt as though its world had shattered.
The old woman stammered, "Th-this black fur… a-and those red eyes… it's too ominous… too terrifying!"
Umbreon's pupils dilated, its small frame trembling as if struck by lightning.
"Tch, tch… seems this world isn't as perfect as I thought."
Elijah mused inwardly.
Just as Umbreon, holding back its heartache, took a step forward to comfort its master, the old woman instinctively stepped back.
"Don't… don't come near me!"
That single step created an irreparable rift between them.
"Don't… don't come closer…"
The old woman turned to flee, but Elijah stepped in front of her first.
"Hey, grandma, haven't you heard of Umbreon? It's one of Eevee's evolved forms. No need to be so scared, right? Black fur is pretty cool, isn't it?"
Elijah vaguely recalled how, in his previous-previous life, he'd gone through quite a bit of effort in the games to evolve Eevee into Umbreon.
"Wh-what Umbreon? Get out of the way! If you like it, take it!"
With that, the old woman brushed past Su Sheng and ran off without a hint of hesitation.
"Seriously? She doesn't even know about the Dark-type Pokemon?"
Elijah glanced at the woman's retreating figure before turning to the Umbreon, whose head hung low, its expression ashen.
"Emmm… Little Black, how about you stick with me for now? Once I figure out a way to devolve you back into Eevee, you can return to your master. Sound good?"
Elijah suggested after a moment's thought.
Umbreon's sorrow instantly turned to shock.
Was this human kid insane?
It had never heard of any Eevee evolving and then devolving back!
Unbeknownst to Umbreon, Elijah's scientific curiosity had already been reignited since arriving in this world.
He was eager to study the differences between Pokémon and Devil Fruit powers.
Evolution, naturally, was one of his research topics.
"But in the meantime, you'll have to help with gathering foods to eat. I'm not like Luffy and I don't work for free."
Elijah added with a reminder.
In his previous life, his alliance with Sabo against the World Government wasn't purely driven by justice.
More importantly, after the World Government sensed Vegapunk's disloyalty, they set their sights on Elijah.
While Elijah didn't consider himself a saint, he was at least human.
He had no interest in mingling with those brainless fanatics.
If that was the case, he figured he might as well strike first.
Thus came the great war where Elijah, allied with the Revolutionary Army, stormed the holy land of Mariejois.
"Bree~"
After a long pause, Umbreon finally let out a soft cry.
It was homeless now—what other choice did it have?
