Chapter 3 - Prologue [Part 3]

There were two girls and a boy. The boy had orange hair, aquamarine eyes, was quite tall, and wore sports clothes, along with a strange tattoo on his neck.

One of the girls was a bit short and blonde, with pigtails on both sides of her head. She seemed to have heterochromia, as one eye was pink and the other black, along with a red heart painted under her pink eye. Additionally, she wore a white dress and a blue jacket. She had a slightly small body, so that also applied to her breasts.

The other girl had short brown hair, and she was a bit taller than her friend (if they knew each other, of course), but not as tall as the boy. She had blue streaks in her hair and lapis lazuli eyes. She was wearing simple pants and a shirt, nothing out of the ordinary. Besides that, she had freckles on her face and round glasses.

But that wasn't the most important thing. My head clicked again. Like that time I walked past that mysterious guy. I looked at the three of them. Another feeling of familiarity washed over me. Did I already know them...? No, impossible. Just like that guy, I had never seen these three in my life.

—Damn dog! —complained the blonde, bringing her hands to her head, gripping her hair.

—Just the dog? —said the other girl, a bit sad and embarrassed —It's the owner's fault.

—Exactly! If that lady had taken care of that dog instead of eating fried chicken like Nikocado Avocado, nothing would have happened! —said the boy, frustrated, putting his hand on the back of his neck while looking down.

—Ehh... —I didn't know what to say, seeing the situation those three were in earlier. The boy lifted his head and saw me. Upon making eye contact with him, another click came to my mind.

The blonde was walking calmly down the street. She took off the wired headphones, connected them to her phone, and put them in her ear, playing 80s music.

"At this rate, I'll arrive 10 minutes early to class, hehe," she thought. She looked at her right arm, specifically, a bracelet with blue and green stones. Her face fell a bit, and she sighed.

She clenched her hand and regained her spirits. She observed the landscape beside her; since the train station was near the beach, she sometimes allowed herself to watch the sunrise, next to the sand and the sea. The wind made her blonde hair sway.

—Ahh! HELP! —she heard some screams from another girl nearby. She turned around to see what was happening.

He saw a girl his age with brown hair running towards her. She looked scared. The girl bumped into a stone on the ground and fell, and the blonde went to help her.

—Hey! What's going on!? — She said, worried, helping her up.

—D-D-DOG... THERE'S A BIG DOG CHASING ME! —she said, scared, as she got up, a bit sore from the fall.

—Huh!? —she caught sight of a somewhat large bulldog, foaming slightly at the mouth, running towards them. The blonde got scared and froze, not knowing what to do. Since she was little, she was afraid of dogs.

—Watch out! —a boy who was behind threw them towards him, without making them fall, and the dog kept running until it crashed into a palm tree. He was an attractive guy, around her age too, who was also nearby. —Are you all okay?

—Y-yeah, I'm fine, but... —said the blonde, looking at the girl behind her, still scared.

—A-a-and I'm f-f-fine too... —he said, with a trembling voice.

—Are you sure? Your knee doesn't say the same. Come here, get closer. —he said. The brown-haired girl approached, and the boy crouched down, examining the knee. He took out a blue handkerchief, dampened it a bit, and tied it around her. Meanwhile, the blonde went to check on the dog. It was unconscious, so she was less scared.

She noticed that it had a red collar around her neck. But she didn't dare touch it because of the foam around it.

—Um... Do you know whose dog this is? It has a collar. —she asked. The boy had just tied the girl's knee, and turned to look.

—Huh? Is that dog someone's? —he asked, as he got up.

—Impossible... That dog seems to have rabies. —said the girl, a bit calmer. The two went to see.

—Hmm... Wait a moment here. —The boy went to look for something among the nearest trees and came back with a stick. —Carefully...—he moved the dog's collar a bit until he found the tag with the owner's address.

—That house is nearby. I can take you if you want. —said the brown-haired girl.

—Okay, but... what do we do with... him? —the blonde girl said, pointing at the dog. —We can't leave it there. And we can't take it, can we?

—Ermm...—the brown-haired girl hesitated—What do you think if...? —she took a towel out of her backpack (probably it was there by chance) and, being careful not to touch the dog, wrapped it up. Having done this, they started walking towards the house.

—It even makes me feel sorry...—the boy commented. Looking at the towel, he found a name embroidered on it. —Huh? Beatrice? Is this your name?

—Uh... Nope. My name is Mar. That name already came with the towel. —she explained.

—Oh... Nice to meet you, by the way. I am Ajax. —And you? —he said, turning to the blondie.

—Mine is Enma. Nice to meet you.—she said jokingly, placing her fingers on her lip, pretending to have a mustache there.

—Emma?

—No, Enma. With an N. I know, it's a weird name, but there's nothing to be done about it.

While they were chatting, it turned out to be a coincidence that all three will go to the same school. In a few minutes, they arrived at the owner's house. There were garbage bags everywhere, making the place smell bad.

—What a stench... —Ajax commented. He, Enma, and Mar covered their noses at the same time.

With disgust, Enma knocked on the door. It took a while, but a lady came out of the door, very "full" (to avoid moral issues, of course), wearing a top that made her entire belly visible, and shorts that really didn't help.

She was also holding a bucket of fried chicken in her hand, with greasy hands and face.

—Damn it, what do you want? —she said, angry, with bad breath.

—Um...— Mar was the only one who dared to speak. —your dog...—she handed her the towel with the dog inside. The lady gave her an unpleasant look. Mar got goosebumps. She grabbed the dog, tossed the towel aside, and inspected it. Her hand was moving towards the dog's mouth.

Ajax wanted to warn her, but it was too late. The lady already put her hand inside. The three of them looked at her with a face of surprise, but at the same time, disgust. Mar seemed like she was about to vomit. She pulled out a small bone that was inside. She threw it towards them, having to move aside abruptly so it wouldn't hit them.

—Damn dog! He's gone back to rummaging through my KFC stash! And you! —she addressed the teenagers. —Don't you dare step on my property again! If I see you again, I'll call the police and tell them you're harassing me! Understood!?

The lady took a handful of chicken with the same hand she had put in the dog's mouth, putting it in her own mouth. Then she slammed the door shut.

—I'm sorry...— Mar ran quickly to a trash can and started to vomit. Ajax went to help her, and Enma, shortly after, also went to see how she was doing.

—How disgusting...—commented Enma.

—If that lady ends up dead in a few days, we'll know why. —said Ajax. Mar had finished throwing up, and Ajax left her a handkerchief to clean herself and water to rinse her mouth.

—Ugh... Now I smell terrible...— said Mar, a bit teary-eyed. Enma took out a perfume, sprayed it on herself, and on Mar too. —Whoa! Thank you!

—Hehe, nothing. —said Enma, a bit chuckling. —By the way, what time is it? —Ajax took his phone out of his pocket and checked the time.

—Oh. —he said, with a poker face.

—Huh? Is something happening? —said Mar

—Hehe... Damn...—he laughed, a bit nervously, while whispering.

—So? —Enma asked. Ajax sighed.

—It's 8 in the morning. We're late. —he said, raising the phone so the girls could see it

—And that's how we got here... —Mar told me. I sat down (well, "we" sat down, Enma was holding my arm to make me sit with them) in one of the carriages that had seats for 4, with a small table in the middle. Ajax and Mar sat together, and across from them, Enma and I.

I sat by the window, which was what I liked. Next, the train sounded. It was about to leave. For now, nothing was visible, but when the train started moving, I began to see the trees and the mountains, along with the morning light, reflecting on me, and forming a yellowish and reddish sky, contrasting with the landscape. This year was going to be... Interesting.
