Chapter 5 - 5.The art of Combat

Two days passed. The city felt like it was holding its breath, like something was about to crack. But you knew better than to focus on the chaos around you. The night you had with Daredevil had given you a taste of something much bigger than street-level brawls—an edge, a fighting spirit you couldn't ignore.

You made your way to the rooftop again. Tonight, the air was thick with tension. You had something to prove. Daredevil would see how far you'd come. He wasn't going to go easy on you this time.

[Stat Update – Level Up! (Level 4 → 5)]

You added your points again, this time focusing more on your combat stats, knowing you needed to keep up with Daredevil's relentless speed and skill.

You arrived early, taking a few moments to warm up. Daredevil was nowhere in sight. You didn't mind the quiet; it gave you a chance to reflect. The lessons from last time still echoed in your mind. Speed, power, resilience. Everything mattered in a fight.

Then, you heard him.

Daredevil dropped down beside you, his footsteps light on the rooftop.

"You ready?" he asked, spinning his batons effortlessly.

You nodded. "Let's go."

This time, there was no warning. He moved, fast, like a blur of red and black. Batons in a blur, coming from every angle.

[Skill Activated: Danger Sense – Lv. 1]

Your body reacted before you could even think. You dodged to the side just as the first baton aimed for your head. You countered with a quick jab, but he blocked it, his free baton knocking your punch aside.

The fight turned into a whirlwind of strikes. You kept up, though. You'd trained harder, focused more. Every move you made was a little faster, a little stronger than the last time. You didn't just dodge; you anticipated, moved with him, almost ahead of him.

[Skill Leveled Up: Counter – Lv. 2]

You can now counter faster with higher damage.

You managed to land a solid punch to his midsection, and this time, he actually staggered back a step.

-20 HP

Daredevil paused, grinning beneath his mask. "Good hit. But don't get too cocky."

He came at you again, even faster. But this time, you weren't just reacting.

Your body, your instincts—they were changing.

You dodged his first strike, then his second, then his third. And with each move, you felt it: a strange clarity, a seamless transition between each dodge, each attack. You adapted.

[Innate Talent Unlocked: Adaptation – Lv. 1]

Your body begins to adapt to your fighting style, increasing your resilience and the speed at which you recover from blows. Your endurance increases over time as you fight. Your combat style evolves faster with each fight you survive.

Your movements were smoother, more fluid. You could feel yourself learning, evolving with every strike, every block. Daredevil didn't slow down, but you kept pace. You were no longer just trying to keep up; you were becoming a part of the fight, adjusting on the fly, pushing your body beyond what it had been capable of before.

At some point, Daredevil backed off, his batons spinning in one last fluid motion.

"You're doing better than I expected," he said, breathing a little heavier than usual. "You're adapting faster than I thought. But you've still got a long way to go."

You stood, chest rising and falling, a grin spreading across your face. "I'm just getting started."

[Quest Complete: The Devil's Teachings]

Next session in 48 hours.

You were more than just a street fighter now. Your training with Daredevil was unlocking something in you, something you didn't understand yet—but you could feel it growing. The raw power, the adaptability, it was all starting to come together.

Daredevil's words echoed in your mind as you walked away from the rooftop.

"You've still got a long way to go."

But you knew better. You were changing. Evolving.

And the city was about to find out just how much.
