Chapter 13 - 13.Allies in the Shadows

The city never slept. But tonight, it felt colder, harsher—more aware.

You'd gotten used to the dark corners of New York. But there was something about this part of Hell's Kitchen that felt different. The alleys were narrower, the noise less comforting. It was a place where shadows didn't just hide—it lurched.

You hadn't expected to be here, much less to be working with the people who called this street-level jungle home.

After taking down Copybreaker, you'd hoped to relax, to regroup. But Voss had other plans.

A new target had emerged.

"Phantom's back on the radar," she'd said. "We need you on this."

Your powers were still recovering from the fight. You could feel it. But you didn't have the luxury of waiting.

The signal had led you to the heart of Hell's Kitchen, to a building that had long been forgotten by the city's records. It was an old, decaying office tower, shrouded in an eerie silence that only made the place more sinister.

You slipped into the shadows, letting your body blend in with the night.

A familiar voice broke the stillness.

"Planning on knocking?"

You whipped around, immediately recognizing the man in the shadows. Dressed in all black, his red-tinted lenses glinted in the low light.

"Daredevil." Your voice was low, cautious.

"That's me. I could ask the same about you, but I'm pretty sure your 'outfit' gives it away."

You smirked, but there was no time for banter. "I need information on Phantom. I've been tracking him."

"Phantom's not your average street rat," Daredevil said, his tone serious. "He's connected. He's more dangerous than you think."

"That's why I'm here."

You kept your distance, watching him closely. Daredevil wasn't the kind of man who trusted easily. And you weren't sure where your powers fit into his world of blind justice.

"So, what do you need from me?" Daredevil asked.

You narrowed your eyes. "I'm not here for charity. I'm hunting. I need to know where Phantom is hiding."

Daredevil leaned closer, his voice barely audible. "You're not the only one hunting him. I've been on his trail for weeks. Phantom's a ghost. He's got tech that keeps him ahead of the game. We need to stick together on this one."

There was an unspoken agreement between you both. You weren't here to make friends. You were here to catch a killer.

"I'll take point," you said, voice firm. "You track his movements. I'll handle the tech."

Daredevil didn't flinch. "Deal. But you're not the only one after Phantom. Be ready."

Before you could ask what he meant, a sound echoed from above—a soft thud. A silhouette dropped down from the rooftop, landing with a heavy thump.

You immediately went on guard, but Daredevil didn't move. Instead, he crossed his arms, a wry smile tugging at his lips.

"This is going to be fun."

A figure stepped out from the darkness, revealing himself fully.

"Well, well," he said, voice playful. "Looks like we've got ourselves a new player in town."

Spider-Man.
