Chapter 4 - Vincent Benzies

「Kyle

- Yo, my dude. You got 2 OG Kush? I'll pay you $100 for em.

Bruce clicked on the chat and smirked. "Sometimes, you get someone willing to give you a bit more than what you've asked.

"I like pushing it, though."

「How about 3 OG Kush for $150?」

「Kyle

- Okay, I guess that's fine. When do you wanna meet up?」

Bruce already had some fully grown kush, packaged in baggies, ready to be sold.

He scheduled for them to meet in the morning, and Kyle told him that he would meet him at the back of Taco Ticklers.

Bruce then took the time to tend to the last kush plant before going to bed.

Bright and early in the morning, Bruce woke up to more texts from brand-new customers.

He smirked when he realised that Peggy was also interested in buying from him. This meant that he could build a friendly relationship with her and get her recommendation.

A few schedules later, Bruce decided to meet up with Kyle.

He was exactly as he had pictured him.

Round, dopey eyes, low brows and a calm smile. His hair was medium length and blonde, and he had his iconic yellow colored Taco Ticklers uniform on.

'I respect this dude so much. Getting high before a shift. He's my kinda guy.'

Bruce approached him and kept glancing at his surroundings before talking to him.

"You got the stuff?" Kyle asked, his voice measured and relaxed.

Without responding, Bruce pulled out 3 baggies of kush and hid them plainly in his hands, pretending to shake Kyle's hand.

Kyle did the same. Only this time, he was concealing the agreed-upon $150.

They shook hands, even bumped shoulders and chuckled before speaking for a minute or two to reduce suspicion.

"Much appreciated, homie," Kyle said as he began walking away, rolling one up and smoking it before entering the back door of his workplace.

'The people of this area might be a little weird.'

「+$150

+$34 Fast Delivery Bonus」

Bruce smirked as he watched the $34 materialise in his hands. Maybe the system wasn't as bad as he thought.

He then jogged through town, avoiding the feds, and gave Kathy, a black woman with dyed orange hair, relaxed eyes and a sweet smile, her package, getting some more decent cash.

After a few more solid deals, he finally got to Chloe, a red haired woman who could potentially connect him to a dealer.

"You ready?" she cautiously asked as she leaned against the metal bars of the basketball court.

"I got you," Bruce shook her hand and pulled her in close for a hug, shocking her as her eyes widened.

"Keep it cool. The feds are watching," Bruce cautioned as 3 officers walked past them, ignoring the two, assuming they were friends–maybe even something more.

After that little rundown, Chloe cleared her throat and handed Bruce his money, thanking him before lighting one up and walking away.

Bruce watched as she left and noticed he had 2 baggies of kush left.

「Crouch right behind her, and I'll make sure she can't move」

Bruce lifted an eyebrow suspiciously. 'What the fuck? Why?'

「So you can pickpocket her, silly~」

Bruce snapped and walked on home, tending to his last plant before getting some food and accepting more deals for the evening.

He trimmed the bush and checked the time on his phone. It was 9.

The sirens rang outside his motel room, indicating that the city's curfew had been initiated.

Cops would not only be more on guard, but would be patrolling until 5 in the morning, which was when curfew ended.

Bruce could work in his room all night, but he needed to make sure that he went to bed by at least 4 o'clock.

But tonight wasn't that night. He needed to pay Albert his money so he could request more dead drops before growing some more good shit.

After grabbing his last 10 packaged kush, Bruce lit one up, dragging in the earthy air and huffed, jogging out of the motel room in order to complete his deals.

He met Peter File, who had a wild name in his opinion, next to the bridge that connected closer to the docks.

Peter was a literal nerd with a low taker taper cut and round glasses. He also had an endearing smile, which made Bruce question his morals.

'Am I really about to sell to a decent-looking guy like him? Never mind the weird name, he looks fucking harmless!'

"You ready, bro?" Peter asked as he hid some money in his hands, already familiar with the handshake.

Bruce checked his surroundings and quickly handed over 3 OG Kush.

"Aw yeah...!" Peter lit up the joint and walked away.

「+$155

+$75 Curfew Bonus」

'Lit.'

Bruce completed a few extra deals, and right on his last one with Donna, who was right outside the bar–probably after a long day–he was being watched from the shadows.

「Hey, idiot, it's the fuzz!」

Bruce's senses kicked in as he began bolting in the opposite direction while Donna returned to the bar, thinking that Nelson's nephew was high on his own supply.

But it was already too late. The cops had noticed him.

"Hey, you! Get back here!" a female cop with two ponytails exclaimed as she ran after him, her partner tailing right next to her.

"Curfew's long started, kid! We're booking you!" her partner, a bald man with a French moustache, shouted right behind him.

A bar written [UNDER ARREST] popped up above Bruce's head and appeared once more in front of him.

He switched off the torch he had and barrel rolled to the right, his body hitting the hard grass as it tumbled toward the basketball court.

Unharmed, Bruce picked himself up and beelined towards the motel, only for him to hear radios from the cops around the Chinese restaurant he passed by.

Boom! 2 more cops recognised him from the call made by their coworkers, and the bar above his head changed.

[WANTED]

'Are you fucking kidding me?!'

「Just punch them in their faces and you'll be fine!」

'You stupid Deepsake ass ChatGPT ripoff AI!'

「Turn to the right and jump into the dumpster」

Bruce followed the AI's instructions and hid in the dumpster, taking steady breaths as he peeked through the opening.

'Holy Hell, I can't get caught now... Not for fucking weed!'

The police radios buzzed and hummed as the feds described him. One stood eerily close to the dumpster he hid in, making him hold his breath and sweat.

But then, a revelation saved him.

The wanted bar slowly started to decrease, disappearing after 3 minutes.

"Forget it, he got away. We got his description, so we'll find him," one cop said as she walked away.

Bruce would've been scared if it wasn't for his skill, 「Miraculous Repair 」.

'I gotta get to bed...'

Bruce walked back to the bar, gave Donna her kush and received his payment, returning to his motel room and going to bed.

In the morning, he checked outside to see if any cops were ready to pick him up. Thanks to his system, that didn't seem to be the case.

Bruce sighed in relief and opened his map, tracking down any new potential customers.

"Austin, Lucy, Ludwig... I'll go find Ludwig."

「I suggest you lay low for now, host」

"Huh? Why's that?"

「There's something that feels off about this whole ordeal. You're progressing too fast, even with my assistance.

「It's almost as if the Benzies family, or other cartels even, are letting you do this so you could get comfortable」

He rubbed his chin in contemplation. That was a possibility.

But, Bruce understood how the business worked. All he needed to do was to build a solid reputation and he would worry about rival cartels afterwards.

He removed the kush from his product manager app and put on his headsets, playing Lit Like Bic by Rae Sremmurd, approaching Ludwig who as walking behind Dan's hardware store.

Ludwig had glasses, an apron and unkempt black hair.

According to the system, his standards were somewhat high. But Bruce was confident in his product.

"Yo, my mans," he approached him with a friendly smile.

Ludwig, already knowing what type of man Bruce was, stopped walking and placed his hands in his pockets.

"Can I offer you a free sample?"

"Sure thing," Ludwig shrugged, telling himself that it wouldn't hurt to get some marijuana from someone new.

He dragged the kush and sucked his teeth, his eyes turning red and his lips curling into a smile.

Ludwig chuckled and nodded in approval. "Fuck yes, that's the shit. You'll be hearing from me."

Bruce nodded and smirked, walking away. 'Easy. Now, for Peggy...'

"Wow, you stayed behind? You're quite bold for a nobody."

A mysterious, low voice stopped Bruce dead in his tracks, making him slowly turn his head as he looked at the man.

He was leaning against the wall, his head lowered and baseball cap on backwards.

The man raised his head and looked at Bruce, the youngster immediately recognising him.

'Oh shit... Unc told me about him...'

「The Benzies family's leading dealer, Vincent Benzies」
