Chapter 1 - Prologue

Baek Ri-hyun, an orphan who was swept away in the conflicts of the central plains. Honed his body and martial arts to its absolute limit, to survive the ongoing wars.

Being capable of splitting the mountains with his martial arts and the heavens sending thunder by his call.

After continuous battles, Baek Ri-hyun soon claimed the title "Martial God", the one unrivaled martial artist.

But as time passed, Baek Ri-hyun stopped aging at the young adulthood age, causing him to remain in his peak condition for generations that passed.

When the time became ripe, the Azure alliance announced an at all out war against the Heavenly Demon cult's 42nd generation and even went as far as to involve Baek Ri-hyun in the battlefield.

The air crackled in chaotic energy, a tempest of black and azure swirling around Baek Ri-hyun. He stood amidst the former once lushful green grass but now a field dyed in the blood of conflict.

Baek Ri-hyun, his grip tightening on the hilt of his battered sword, felt the familiar ache of exhaustion, yet his gaze remained unwavering.

Across the ravaged courtyard, atop a grotesque throne of bones and shadow, sat the Divine Heavenly Demon.

"Cheon Tae..."

The Heavenly Demon gazed down on him, even from this distance, the oppressive aura radiating from the ruler of the cult felt like a physical weight, a suffocating presence that had crushed countless beneath its heel.

This was it, the final confrontation, the final verdict of decades of bitter conflict.

Without a single moment's thought, he leaped through the obstacles and faced the Heavenly Demon in front of him.

"You've achieved it, Transcendence."

"Breaking through the shackles of life and death, wielding the power to control the heavens itself. Truly worthy of the 'strongest under heaven'."

Both started walking in a circular motion whilst facing each other.

"They called me the strongest under heaven, yet there exist an individual who is called unrivaled."

"Possessing a threatening divine power similar of the Heavenly Demon's energy itself."

They both stopped.

"Just when will it end."

A silent plea echoed within Baek Ri-hyun, a constant refrain in the symphony of death that had become his life.

He had climbed to the apex of martial arts, hoping for an end to the endless cycle of violence, but the murim offered no respite.

"The immortal enemy of the cult for the past 700 years, I will end your life here to appease the grudge of our ancestors and to truly become the strongest."

"Even if I were to die here. Those orthodox hypocrites would soon see you as their enemy as you possess a power that threatens the peace of the central plains."

"What then Martial God? You will also come to understand and walk the same path as we the Heavenly Demons did."

"Enough chatter, your the loudest Heavenly Demon I've met after the Black Heavens Demon."

The two drew their swords, with sword will manipulating the swords and blades around them from the fallen disciples, as their energies intensely clashed.

As they were about to clash, the sky shattered.

"...!"

It wasn't a physical shattering but rather a tearing in the fabric of reality. A blinding, ethereal light ripped through the blood-red sky, eclipsing even the malevolent glow of the Heavenly Demon's demonic energy.

It pulsed with a power alien to Baek Ri-hyun, a force that felt ancient and impossibly new.

He saw the Heavenly Demon pause, a flicker of something akin to surprise crossing his terrifying visage.

Before either could react, a voice, resonant with power and tinged with a desperate plea, slammed into Baek Ri-hyun's mind.

"Oh great goddess! Hear our desperate prayer! Our kingdom stands at the brink of annihilation, the Demon King's shadow engulfing all that we hold dear."

"I offer our greatest devotion, my very soul if need be, in exchange for the champions! Send us heroes, warriors of unparalleled might, to vanquish evil and restore the light to the world!"

The light intensified, forming multiple swirling vortices across the battlefield. The Divine Heavenly Demon, Cheon Tae, roared a sound of pure fury and thwarted ambition, but it was too late. He watched as an irresistable force seized Baek Ri-hyun.

He was gone.

In a throne room foreign to the designs of the central plains. Guards in heavy armor while wielding spears stood at every side.

Baek Ri-hyun rubbed his eyes, still blinded by the intense light.

"Has the summoning been successful, Archmage Narae?"

An unknown female's voice could be heard.

"Yes princess Aurelia, the summoning has been confirmed and the goddess has blessed us."

She bowed down.

Aurelia's breath hitched. Relief washed over her, momentarily easing the weight of her kingdom's plight.

"The goddess has heard me."

She closed her eyes, a silent prayer of thanks on her lips.

As the summoned beings regained their vision.

A small, translucent interface flickered into existence before each newcomer's eyes, displaying glowing characters in a language they did not recognize.

"Oh great heroes, thank the goddess for answering our call! We beseech your aid in defeating the tyrannical demon king and bringing peace to our ravaged lands!"

Baek Ri-hyun, the Martial God of a world drowning in its own endless conflicts, stared at the glowing texts before him. It then rewrote itself in a language he understood.

He took a tentative step, the unfamiliar stone cold beneath his worn boots. The translucent text in front of him flickered.
