Chapter 1 - Welcome departure

The sun had not as yet risen, but the unclouded sky was starting brightening. Zephyr and Kael stood in the orphanage courtyard, training silently, their movements quick and precise.

Kael instantly transformed into a majestic gray wolf, his amber eyes glowing fiercely in the faint light. He charged Zephyr, who dodged easily and countered with a complex series of swift, precise blows.

Zephyr created illusions of himself that attacked Kael from all sides. Kael dodged them with astonishing ease, but Zephyr took the opportunity to launch a severe attack that promptly hit Kael in the chest.

Kael turned into a enormous brown bear and attacked Zephyr, who had to use a terrific speed and extraordinary agility to avoid Kael's powerful attacks. However, Zephyr was unintimidated and continued to attack Kael with illusions and swift blows.

The fight was intense and swift, the two lifelong friends moving with incredible speed and incredible precision. They had been training for years, and their technique was practically perfect.

At the last moment, Kael transformed into an eagle and flew away, leaving Zephyr alone in the courtyard. Zephyr smiled, knowing he'd been outdone by Kael.

"You're getting really good," said Kael, wiping the sweat from his brow.

"Thanks," Zephyr replied."But I know I can still improve. I want to be ready for what lies ahead."

Kael nodded. "We will be. We've all worked hard for this. We're ready for what's coming."

Zephyr nodded thoughtfully. "I know you are. But I can't help wondering what really lies ahead. What will we achieve along the way?"

Kael shrugged. "We'll find out soon enough. But whatever happens, we'll be together. We're a team, Zeph."

Zephyr smiled, experiencing a wave of gratitude toward his friend. "I know, Kael. I'm fortunate to have you with me."

The two friends looked at each other for a moment, then Kael gave Zephyr's shoulder a affectionate pat.

"Let's join the others," he said. "They are waiting for us."

Zephyr nodded, and the two friends headed towards the others, ready to embark on their perilous journey.

The burning sun was rising over The Light of Dawn orphanage, a large complex of gray stone buildings that seemed to stretch at length forever. The walls were high and imposing, and the windows were narrow and icy. The air was frosty and dry, and the children who lived there had learned to armor themselves against the harshness of their harsh environment.

Zephyr and his friends stood in the courtyard, their backpacks ready and their eyes fixed on the horizon. Ultimately, they were free to leave, to escape this place where they had grown up under constant adult supervision.

The director of the orphanage, an elderly man with a snow-white beard, approached them. He was the only adult who had treated them with warmth and compassion, and they regarded him almost as a father.

"My children, I'm proud of you," he said with a smile. "You are prepared to experience the challenges that lie ahead. Remember you represent The Light of Dawn, and you must be worthy of that trust."

The other children in the orphanage looked at them with a mixture of envy and curiosity. There were hundreds of them, all aged from a few years to late teens. They were all being trained to become powerful Magnii.

The orphanage was a veritable beehive, with classrooms where children learned magic and history, training rooms where they practiced their powers and dormitories where they slept. But despite the size and complexity of the place, there was an atmosphere of coldness and detachment.

Zephyr and his friends were different. They were close to each other, and had always found comfort in each other's company. Now they were prepared to go, to explore the world and discover what it had to offer.

Zephyr remembered a lesson he'd had with his magic teacher, Miss Elara. She had explained the principles of magic and the world of Aethoria.

"Nexari is a formidable force that influences the lives of its inhabitants," she had said. "The Magnii are unique beings who can manipulate the nexari that inhabit them. This gift can manifest itself in anyone, regardless of their species, but their existence is threatened by forces interested in the power they contain.

Zephyr remembered the map of Aethoria that Miss Elara had described to the class. The six continents, each with its own geography and climate. Terraverde, Aethereia, kraelia, Ignis, Nefaria and elrida."Each continent naturally has its own secrets and potential dangers," Madame Elara had said. "But there are also wild, unexplored regions that hide treasures and discoveries."

Zephyr smiled tenderly as he thought about this lesson. He couldn't wait to discover the secrets of Aethoria and explore the continents.

"Let's go," said Zephyr, taking the lead. "We have a long journey ahead of us."

The others nodded eagerly and naturally followed him, leaving behind the orphanage of The light of dawn. They walked in silence, savoring the freedom they had ultimately been granted. The sun was rising over the horizon, and they felt alive.

Elianore walked beside Thorne, a charming smile on her angelic face. But in her glittering eyes, there was a gleam of complex calculation, a determination to achieve her own goals. For now, she was content to walk with the group, ready to face the challenges that lay ahead.

The group left the orphanage with a sense of liberation, ready to begin their new lives. They didn't know what lay ahead, but they were prepared to face whatever.
