Chapter 8 - Unspoken truths

Mr Roberts left too, leaving Olivia and Ivy behind in the study. Olivia was stunned by Jasmine's outburst. She had never spoken to her that way, rather, she'd take it all in and apologize instead. How is it possible that the had changed so much overnight?, she thought while pacing back and forth, her heels clicking on the marble floor.

"How did our plan go so wrong?" Olivia said, half to herself. "We set everything up perfectly, and yet Jasmine ends up with Sebastian Anderson."

Ivy slumped into a chair, her eyes flashing with jealousy. "It's always like this," she muttered. "Everything works out for Jasmine, and I'm left with nothing. She's always been the favorite, the one who gets everything she wants." Olivia stopped pacing and moved to Ivy, patting her gently on the shoulder, "No my dear, I'm sure that girl is up to no good. Trust me and I'll find out."

Ivy's face suddenly turned pale and she looked as though she saw a ghost "Mom, do you think she had already found out. She's been weird lately, especially since she found out about me and Daniel. Do you think she knows that…." she hesitated "…. that you are not her birth mum? She said, lowering her voice."

"No way." Olivia responded almost immediately, scared a little that she might have really found out.

"What if dad told her? He might think she's old enough and has the right to know about her birth mother "

"He wouldn't dare. Unless he wants his daughter to find out his little secret"

Ivy heaved a sigh of relief. " I wonder what has given her so much confidence to stand against you mum."

"Don't worry baby, I will make sure her rebellion doesn't last. She'll regret this." Olivia said with assurance. Ivy's face twisted into a bitter smile. "I'm looking forward to it," she said, her voice dripping with venom.

As Jasmine stepped out of the Roberts mansion, she felt a mix of emotions swirling inside her. She was relieved to have escaped the tense confrontation with her family because she has never stood up to her mother like she did today, but was satisfied that she finally let it out.She took a deep breath, letting the cool evening air fill her lungs, and began to walk towards her car. She got in and drove out of the lot and soon, she was home.

She pulled into her parking spot and got out of the car, feeling a sense of relief wash over her as she stepped into the quiet of her building.

She barely managed to settle down in her apartment when there was a knock at the door. She hesitated for a moment, wondering who it could be, before getting up to answer it. When she opened the door, she was surprised to see Sebastian standing there, a playful smile on his face.

"Hey, wife," he said, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything important." Her eyes narrowed as she looked at him and wondered if this was the man that was rumoured to be as cold as ice, in fact, he's the exact opposite.

"How did you know where I live?" she asked, trying to keep her tone neutral.

Sebastian chuckled. "I'm your husband, remember? I have my ways. Besides, I thought it was time we got to know each other better."

Jasmine raised an eyebrow. "And why are you here?"

Sebastian leaned against the doorframe, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "I'm here to invite myself in, of course. It's not every day I get to spend time with my beautiful wife."

Jasmine rolled her eyes. Why is he getting too familiar with her. They haven't even known each other for long. "You are really something!" She said and blushed.

Sebastian grinned. "That's why you married me, isn't it?"

Jasmine stepped aside, allowing him to enter. As he walked past her, she couldn't help but notice the way he filled the room with his presence. He was tall, broad-shouldered, and exuded an air of confidence that was both captivating and intimidating.

As they stood in the living room, Sebastian turned to her and said, "You know, I was thinking...as married couples, it's weird that we're living separately. People might start to suspect the authenticity of our marriage."

Jasmine raised an eyebrow. "And what makes you think I'd want to live with you?"

Sebastian's smile faltered for a moment before he recovered. "Well, I thought it would be a good idea. We can get to know each other better, and it'll look good for the public eye."

Jasmine hesitated, weighing her options. She didn't know Sebastian well enough to make a decision like that, but at the same time, she didn't want to appear like she was hiding something.

"Give me two weeks to think about it," she said finally.

Sebastian nodded. "Alright. Two weeks it is. I'll come back for you then."

It was soon two weeks and Jasmine moved in with Sebastian as planned.

The Anderson's mansion was a sprawling estate with beautifully manicured lawns and a grand entrance. The interior was tastefully decorated, with expensive artwork and furniture that exuded elegance. Jasmine felt a little overwhelmed as she stepped into the foyer, but Sebastian took her hand, leading her to the living room.

As they entered the living room, Jasmine was greeted by the domestic workers, who welcomed her warmly. There was Maria, the housekeeper, who had a kind smile and a firm handshake. Then there was Thomas, the butler, who was stern but efficient. And finally, there was Martha, the old nanny, who had been taking care of Sebastian since he was a child.

Martha's eyes lit up as she saw Sebastian, Martha's eyes lit up as she saw Sebastian, and she hurried over to give him a warm hug. "Sebastian, dear boy, it's so good to see you happy," she said, beaming.

Sebastian smiled, hugging her back. "Thanks, Martha. I'd like you to meet my wife, Jasmine."

Martha turned to Jasmine, her eyes warm and welcoming. "Welcome to the family, dear. We're glad to have you here."

As the evening drew to a close, Sebastian took Jasmine on a tour of the mansion, introducing her to the various rooms and facilities. They walked through the spacious hallways, past the beautifully decorated rooms, and finally arrived at Sebastian's bedroom.

The room was spacious, with a king-sized bed and a large window that overlooked the garden. Jasmine felt a little awestruck by the grandeur of the room, but Sebastian just smiled and took her hand, leading her to the closet.

"Make yourself at home," he said, gesturing to the closet. " The closet was filled with women's clothing in different styles. Jasmine was dumbfounded, it was as if he had been preparing to get married to her since a long while because the clothes were exactly her style. There were different designer bad and shoes too. "When did you have time to prepare all of these?" She asked curiously.

"Let's say I got a little help. It's pretty late now, let's sleep."

Jasmine nodded, not pressing further. As they got ready for bed, She couldn't help but feel a little self-conscious. She didn't know Sebastian well enough to be comfortable changing in front of him.

Sebastian seemed to sense her unease and gave her a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, I'll change in the bathroom," he said, grabbing his pajamas.

As they settled in for the night, Jasmine's phone rang. She hesitated for a moment before answering it. It was her father, inviting her to a family dinner the next day.

Jasmine hesitated, feeling a little apprehensive about facing her sister and ex-fiancé again. But her father was pressing, and she didn't want to disappoint him.

"Okay, Dad," she said finally. "I'll be there."

As she hung up the phone, Sebastian looked at her with a questioning expression. "Everything okay?" he asked.

Jasmine nodded, feeling a little distracted. "Yeah, it's just my father. He wants me to come over for dinner tomorrow."

"Ah, I see." He nodded. "Are you sure you want to go?" He asked sounding a little concerned.

"Yea, I'll be fine. Thanks"

They went to bed afterwards.
