01:00 AM - Interrogation Room
Thomas sat in silence, his gaze empty as he stared at the two photographs placed before him. The names beneath them were clear: Alex and Merlin. His fragmented memories slowly began to piece themselves together, but they still felt like an incomplete puzzle.
A police officer who had been standing in the corner of the room finally stepped forward. His voice was firm as he stated, "These two were members of the police force."
Thomas swallowed hard, feeling a tremor in his voice as he mumbled, "They... were police? D-Did I kill a cop? B-But why were they threatening me?"
The officer sitting across from him, who appeared more senior, let out a long sigh. "You've been here for almost an hour, Thom, and the same questions and answers keep repeating. But it seems like you're starting to remember something, aren't you?"
The man leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms before introducing himself calmly. "I'm Detective Harold." He then glanced at his partner, who still stood in the corner. "And that's my colleague, Gareth."
Gareth pulled a chair beside Harold, his sharp gaze fixed on Thomas. "Someone reported a disturbance in an apartment. And the only survivor was you, Tom."
Thomas's eyes flickered as the fragments of his memory slowly formed. "Yes... yeah... I remember..."
Harold pointed to the first photo. "This is Alex, a police officer who was shot and killed." Then he gestured toward the second. "And this is Merlin, Alex's partner. He's currently being interrogated in another room."
Gareth added in a cold tone, "They were corrupt cops involved in a drug network."
Thomas shook his head, feeling even more lost. "Then... why am I being arrested?"
Harold locked eyes with him and said flatly, "Because all the evidence points to you, Thom."
Thomas lowered his head, his hands gripping his hair in frustration. "No way... I couldn't have done this..."
BANG!
Gareth slammed his fist onto the table, making Thomas flinch. "Two bullets were found in Maya and Alex's bodies. And both came from the same gun! A gun with your fingerprints all over it, Thom!"
Gareth grabbed Thomas by the collar, his eyes burning with fury. "You killed a cop and a civilian! And you still deny it?!"
Harold quickly pulled Gareth back, attempting to calm his partner. "Take it easy, man," he said in a measured tone.
Detective Harold then fixed his serious gaze on Thomas. "We need information from you. If you don't cooperate, you'll be charged with multiple crimes, murder, involvement in a drug ring, and colluding with corrupt officers."
Gareth folded his arms and stepped back. "How did you end up in that apartment?"
Thomas kept his head down, trying to steady his breathing. His voice was barely above a whisper when he finally answered, "Someone called me..."
Harold leaned forward. "Who?"
Thomas slowly lifted his head, his eyes filled with fear and confusion. "Maya..."
