CASSIDY
Once I arrived back home, Mother and Father were in the living room, their gaze piercing at me like they had been waiting for me.
I narrowed my gaze at them before I finally caught my breath. But Mother took a few steps closer to me and slammed me hard on my face.
"How dare you Cassy, how dare you bring such humiliation to this family!" She yelled at the top of her lungs. I had no idea what was going on, but as I stared at Father's, he also had a look of disappointment on his face.
"Cassidy, why did you reject the Alpha as your mate?" Father's voice finally came through; his voice was calm, yet I could feel the sadness in his voice.
"Dad, I had to. He was having an affair with Brielle And all this while, he knew that I was his mate but didn't say anything, it's like he didn't want me"
"That is not an excuse, you do understand that I earn and this family survives from the royal family, the Alpha is so furious at your decision, he was humiliated before everyone and now I might lose my job"
As he explained the situation to me, I was slowly starting to see the weight of my actions and the fact that it did not affect just me.
"No one ever rejects the Alpha, I repeat, no one but you, nobody has the guts to do that; you do not care about anyone but yourself, even if it means it is going to hurt the entire family!"
Mother continued to yell, her voice seething with rage.
"You need to calm Laura"
"That is it with you, you are so soft when it comes to Cassidy and that is why she always ends up making such decisions all the time that affect the entire family"
Mother refuted even before father was done speaking, I stood there knowing that there was only a day left and I would be leaving this house, but until then, I needed to deal with them as best as possible.
"Trust me, Cassy, this time I am not going to let you get away with this, you are going to pay dearly for your behavior"
She immediately signaled her men standing at the door and they walked towards me, but father wasn't happy about it, his eyes trailing through the men.
"What do you think you are doing Laura, Cassidy is just a child, you don't have to punish her for every mistake"
"That is what you keep saying and as a result of that, she keeps making decisions that would hurt us, she would have to go over to the Alpha's pack house to apologize else I am sure that you are going to lose your job and once you do, we are all ruined"
Both men immediately forced me to my knees; I felt a wince of pain on my knees as I did; they had both my hands clasped together, and while I expected Father to stop them, he stood staring at them.
Just then, the door swung open and as Brielle stepped in, her eyes were red and consumed with pain, with hesitation, she walked over to where I was and shoved me hard to the wall, slamming me really hard, yet no one said a word as they let her vent out her anger on me like I was some sort of wood.
"Brielle, you need to calm down, what happened?" Mother finally asked once she was sure that Brielle had beaten me to her satisfaction and my face was covered in bruises.
"She humiliated me before everyone claimed that I stole her mate away from her, everyone mockery in their eyes as they stared at me, they called me names, And Cassidy was okay with it; in fact, she was so excited seeing me being treated like that."
Hearing her explanation, Father slammed his forehead hard. Yet no one was ready to listen to my side of the story as they began to rain insults at me.
"Cassy, you are truly a disappointment to this entire family!" My Father sneered, filled with rage and then Brielle continued to add more salt to the injury.
"Daddy, you need to have seen the way Cassidy insulted the Alpha before everyone; she called him names and made sure he felt the pain of the rejection. Jason was going to marry her and raise our family to the standard that was benefitting us, yet she ruined it all!"
Father clutched to his chest like he was having a heart attack. He came close to me, and although he didn't hit me like the rest of them, the way he stared at me brought me more pain.
"Cassidy, I always thought that you were going to be the one that would bring Wealth to this family, even when others didn't believe in you; I believed in you, yet you ruined me; I cursed the day that I fathered a child like you!"
His words sank through me, so painful that I could barely breathe, and right that moment, the tears that I had been holding back rolled down my cheek.
"Daddy! Mommy, I have another piece of news!" This time, a smile had returned to her face as she stared at everyone.
"Alpha Jason has proposed to marry me!"
"What, is that true?" Mother asked And as her eyes lit up, she immediately rushed over to Brielle and embraced her.
A smile had finally returned to father's expression, his hands wrapped around Brielle with so much joy and admiration and at that moment, it felt like she was that golden child they had always wished for.
"Brielle, go ahead and tell me more about it," Mother suggested and guided her to the couch; once she was seated, Mother sat next to her, their gaze peeking with curiosity.
Brielle began to tell them all about her engagement to him, how he told her that she was better than I was, and how the marriage rites would take place soon.
For a second there, I thought that they had all forgotten all about me until Mother rose to her feet, her gaze turned to Father.
"Cassy hasn't earned anything in this house and as such, she will be spending the night in the dark basement."
Mother announced, and my entire self grew cold; that was a trauma I wasn't ready to deal with.
I turned to my Daddy, knowing that, at this point, he was the only one that was capable of saving me.
"Daddy, please you can't let them take me there, I fall very sick each time I am there, please"
Tears trickled down my cheek, I was desperate and would do anything not to go down the basement because of how cold and fearful it was.
But my Daddy lowered his head like he didn't want to have anything to do with me. Just then, those two guards walked up to me and grabbed my arm forcefully.
"Please…. Please, I promise that I will be good," I cried out, struggling so hard until a voice suddenly interrupted us.
"Get your hands off her!!" He growled and we all froze right there.
