Unit 001
"Nathan! Don't just stand there, we need to prepare to face these MeteorWraiths."
Inside a room whose walls were made of iron, a room filled with a dim blue light created a calm yet slightly gloomy atmosphere.
Even though it was blurry, it seemed I saw many tubes, each containing a single human. I looked at my hands and moved my fingers, I looked around, it seemed I was also inside a similar tube as the people around me?
A woman wearing a white doctor's coat approached me, she said something but I couldn't hear her, her face full of doubt. She reached out her hand to me before it touched the glass, her palm as if she wanted to reach me.
Wait, I just realized that my feet weren't touching the ground, was I in water and floating now? There were many tubes stuck into my body. The woman from before, she waved her hand at me. Hey wait, I said something but my voice was blocked by the breathing mask that had been trapping me.
"Nathan!" Her voice screamed with worry.
I was startled to hear someone call my name, it turned out to be just Greyson, I just realized that I was now in a war against the MeteorWraiths.
"Nathan, are you there?"
"Ah, yes."
"Good. Get ready, they're coming from the one o'clock direction."
"Do we need to get out of the SpyderMech?" I said through the communication device called NeuroLink.
"No need, they seem to be only level D."
"Alright."
The MeteorWraiths, which had the bodies of cows, buffaloes, and goats, began to approach us. The bodies of animals that were already half grotesque in appearance.
"Team 1, move to point D. We will surround them, don't let any escape." As usual, Greyson was calm and reliable in situations like this.
"Alright, don't die there because I'm not there." Chloe said with a sarcastic tone.
Greyson laughed bitterly before replying, "As if I would die."
Silence enveloped our ears before being shattered by Greyson's voice.
"Fire!"
The loud sound of bullets and missiles, the very strong thud of the ground being hit by missiles, flooded our ears. A chaotic sound, but for us it was already a daily occurrence.
"Teams B and C, keep firing missiles at them."
"Nathan, move forward. Attack their inner forces."
"Alright."
I began to advance with my SpyderMech, passing the corpses of animals that had been infected by the MeteorWraiths. I planted an anchor into one of the window walls of an abandoned building. From up here, all the monsters were visible. I clung to the wall and window of the building that looked like it was about to collapse.
"Nathan, shoot!"
I aimed my missile rifle at the MeteorWraiths and pressed the fire button without the slightest hesitation.
A loud sound and a large explosion effect, because of it this building was also almost collapsing. I descended from the wall, leaving cracks from the SpyderMech's legs after I jumped down from the collapsing building right after I got off.
After several MeteorWraiths had been shot, the survivors fled back into the wild. I opened the SpyderMech's door by pushing it upwards, then climbed out.
I saw many MeteorWraiths that were already dead or just dying and had lost some of their limbs. I took out my pistol, cocked it, and aimed it at one of the MeteorWraiths that had lost half of its body, right at its brain, ready to end the parasite in its brain.
"Have you found it yet?" I lowered my gun while turning to the side and saw Greyson suddenly arrive and walk towards me while looking to the right and left, observing the collapsed buildings and MeteorWraiths.
"Not yet." Once again I aimed the pistol right at the MeteorWraith's brain and pulled the trigger.

I opened the door slowly, behind it was the room of the Commander of unit 001. The glare of the sun shone into my eyes through the large glass window behind Commander Dallen, I squinted my eyes before returning to normal. I saluted him.
"Good morning, Commander."
"Morning, Nathan." His heavy voice replied to my words.
I lowered my hand and returned to attention. Commander Dallen, who had been looking at me, now turned his body, facing out the window.
"Nathan, you have helped this district a lot." He then turned his body and faced me. "We, the residents of the Novus Vitas district, are very grateful for your efforts and struggles over the past few months." He replied while placing his right hand on his left chest with a slight bow.
"It is my duty as a soldier of Novus Vitas and also to repay the kindness of this district for saving me." I replied.
Commander Dallen smiled at me. "Alright, I'll get straight to the point. Because of the superiors' decision and your good performance, you will be transferred to unit 001."
"Alright."

Before entering the headquarters of unit 001, many voices could be heard from the people inside.
"Hey, I heard there's a new person coming to this unit."
"Ehh, this unit is already quite crowded."
"At least don't try to scare him by putting too much pressure, especially you two."
"Yes, Captain."
"Alright, Captain."
I entered the headquarters of unit 001, as one of my footsteps landed to enter, everyone's attention immediately turned to me and Commander Dallen. The room wasn't too different from my room in unit 003.
There was an oval sofa and table standing in the middle of the room, a lantern-shaped lamp, on the side of the room there was a fairly large map, there was a place marked with a pin, the place read Pillar Of Creation. Next to the map there was a clock and bookshelves.
The people inside wore the same set of clothes as me, a white shirt tucked into black pants, then covered with a formal black jacket with a brown outline that could only be buttoned at the top near the neck, the ends of the sleeves were brown with buttons, the white shirt collar sticking out of the black jacket, and a badge in the shape of a blooming rose seen from above, what distinguished theirs from mine was the writing on the left side of their black jacket which read Unit 001.
Everyone stood up and saluted Commander Dallen.
The room that was previously full of whispers and voices suddenly fell silent. Commander Dallen clasped his hands and covered his mouth while pretending to cough as if wanting to clear his throat.
"Everyone, let me introduce you to Nathan Eskiel. He will be your colleague from now on. Although his experience is not as much as all of yours, he has promising performance."
While everyone stared at me seriously, curiously, and with gazes that seemed to be assessing me, my eyes were only focused on the woman standing near the bookshelf, she looked at me while smiling and widening her eyes, and a few tears welled up. With her sincere smile, brown hair caught in the sunlight through the window, long eyelashes, her green eyes and her tears that sparkled like diamonds.
Her tears were full of emotions of happiness, relief, and also struggle.
"Velyna? Are you alright?" Said the girl beside her with concern.
Velyna, a name that seemed familiar to me. She wiped away the tears that were falling onto her cheeks.
"Yes, I'm fine, just dust got in my eyes. You don't need to worry, Claire."
Claire sighed in relief. "I thought what, it was just dust."
"Alright, I hope you all can work well together. I have work so I have to go." Said Commander Dallen, after speaking he immediately strode out of the headquarters of unit 001.
A man approached me, his gray eyes looked at me, his hair was combed to the side, his height was almost the same as mine although he was slightly taller. He had a different aura from other people. He held out his hand and offered to shake hands.
"Nice to meet you, I am the captain of unit 001. You can call me Andreas, Andreas Hilton."
I extended my cold hand that had been silently at my side and shook hands with him. "I am Nathan Eskiel." Andreas turned back, more precisely facing the members of unit 001 while slightly raising the corner of his lips, smiling a little.
"Well, even though unit 001 is a special exploration unit, just relax, the atmosphere here isn't as tense as people think."
He turned back to me.
"Welcome to unit 001, or maybe what people usually call the Wanderer's of Mystery, Nathan Eskiel."
"Hopefully we can uncover the truth of the Pillar Of Creation."
