Chapter 1 - arrival and awakening

After being hit by the truck, Mohit felt a surge of intense pain. He could faintly hear the voices of several doctors working frantically around him. Despite their efforts, after two days of suffering, Mohit finally left his body.

Now a wandering spirit, he roamed the city as a ghost for three days. His chain of fate had begun to corrode, teetering on the verge of disintegration. Just then, a man appeared before him — dressed in black robes and carrying a sword.

"Hello there," the man said. "My name is Kenji. I'm a Soul Reaper."

Mohit stared at him, confused. "My name is Mohit... Who are you really? And why do you have a sword?"

Kenji smiled calmly. "Like I said, I'm a Soul Reaper. I'm here to perform a Konso on you."

Before Mohit could respond, Kenji gently tapped the hilt of his sword on Mohit's forehead. Instantly, Mohit was transported to a new world — the Soul Society.

As he arrived, he noticed that everything — the grass, the sky, even the air — felt strangely similar to the living world. But one thing stood out: the strong influence of Japanese culture in the environment around him.

Curious, Mohit began exploring a nearby town. While walking through the busy streets, he spotted a blonde-haired boy who looked out of place. Wanting to confirm his suspicion, Mohit approached him.

"Hi," Mohit said. "My name is Mohit. What's yours?"

The blonde boy looked at him with a smirk. "You're new to the Soul Society, aren't you? Name's Arthur. And this," he said, gesturing around, "is District 1 — Junrinan. The most peaceful district in the whole Soul Society."

Arthur invited Mohit to his camp on the outskirts of the district. There, he offered Mohit some food. As Mohit ate, he couldn't help but think: This... this is the same Soul Society I saw in Bleach — my favorite anime.

The next morning, while roaming the streets of District 1 with Arthur, Mohit's stomach growled loudly. Arthur glanced at him and chuckled.

"Man, you just entered the Soul Society and you're already getting hungry?" he said, amused.

Mohit paused, thinking. Wait... getting hungry here means something... He remembered reading about it—hunger in the Soul Society is a sign of spiritual awareness.

"What do you mean by that?" Mohit asked. "Is getting hungry here something special?"

Arthur nodded. "Only souls with spiritual awareness feel hunger in the Soul Society. Those are the ones who usually become Soul Reapers."

Mohit's eyes lit up. "Then... why didn't you become one?"

Arthur shrugged with a grin. "It's kind of boring to start school without a good friend. And to become a Soul Reaper, you have to pass through the academy first."

Mohit smiled. "Then why don't we try to get in together?"

Arthur raised an eyebrow. "Fine, but it's not that easy. Getting hungry isn't enough—you need a minimum level of spiritual energy to qualify. So... are you still willing to try?"

"Why not?" Mohit said confidently. "At least we can give it a shot."

The Next Day

Mohit and Arthur made their way to the Shinigami base in District 1. As they arrived, Mohit approached a nearby Soul Reaper.

"Excuse me, Mr. Shinigami…"

The Soul Reaper turned and grinned. "Oh, you're Mohit—the soul from the USA! Don't you remember me? I'm Kenji, the one who performed Konso on you."

Mohit's eyes widened. "Kenji! I remember you now!"

They exchanged a few words, catching up briefly. Then Mohit asked, "Hey, Kenji… do you think you could help my friend Arthur and me get into the Shinigami Academy?"

Kenji laughed. "Of course! Come with me."

At the Shinigami Academy

They arrived at the academy, where a tall man in a black kimono greeted them. He looked stern but calm.

"Well, what a surprise, Kenji," the man said. "What brings you here?"

"Hello, Kazuki-sensei," Kenji replied respectfully. "I've brought two potential students." He pointed at Mohit and Arthur.

Mohit immediately bowed. "Nice to meet you, sir. We're here to apply for the Shinigami Academy."

Kazuki looked them over. "Two new young ones, huh? Alright, follow me."

As they walked through the academy halls, Mohit noticed several Shinigami students training and attending class. He was amazed.

Kazuki continued, "The entrance test is simple. You'll each place your hand on a crystal orb. It will read your spiritual signature. If your spiritual power meets the minimum level, you'll be accepted into the academy.". Mohit and Arthur followed Kazuki-sensei through a quiet hallway that led to a room glowing with spiritual energy. At the center of the room stood a large pedestal with a shining crystal orb placed on top. The orb pulsed softly with a pale blue light.

"This is the spiritual detection orb," Kazuki explained, turning to face them. "Place your hand on it one at a time. If your spiritual energy meets or exceeds the required threshold, you'll be accepted into the Shinigami Academy."

Arthur took a deep breath and stepped forward first. He placed his hand on the orb. A bright yellow glow flared from within, pulsing steadily.

Kazuki nodded, slightly impressed. "Not bad. You have strong potential. You pass."

Arthur grinned and stepped back. "Told you I was special," he whispered to Mohit.

Mohit smiled nervously and stepped forward. His hands were slightly shaking as he placed his palm on the crystal.

For a moment, nothing happened. Then suddenly—flash!

A mixture of black and silver light glows from the orb, it was same as arthur but it was more stable than it had glowed for Arthur. The entire room was bathed in the color.

Kazuki's eyes widened. "Incredible… That level of stability in

spiritual pressure… it's rare in someone who just arrived in the Soul Society."

Mohit looked confused. "Is that… good?"

Kenji smiled. "It's more than good, Mohit. You're way above the minimum. You didn't just pass—you stood out."

Kazuki folded his arms and gave a rare smile. "Welcome to the Shinigami Academy, both of you."

Arthur clapped Mohit on the back. "Looks like we're going to school together after all."

As they left the room, Mohit glanced at the glowing orb one last tine and thinks ( this will be my chance to do something and become a man I wanted to be )
