Chapter 140 - Chapter 140 — “Selene’s Turn”

Location: Vale Beach House – Private Terrace, The Next Night

The moon hung low—amber and watchful.

Selene stood by the railing in a black crop top and satin pants, her silhouette framed by the ocean. The only sound was the sea whispering secrets into the wind.

Caelan approached quietly, but not cautiously. With Selene, he never needed to pretend.

Caelan: "I want to show you something."

Selene (without turning): "Let me guess. Secret passage? Vampire cave? Werewolf tattoo?"

Caelan (dry): "Two out of three."

She smirked, but her eyes stayed sharp.

"Alright. Show me."

Scene: Inside the Inner Room

He led her downstairs into the secured family study—away from the laughter upstairs, into the truth few ever saw.

Glass cases lined with ancient weapons. Scrolls. Books written in languages long lost. A map of the world that glowed faintly with living lines.

Selene said nothing.

Until she reached the silver pendant on the wall—shaped like a trinity knot, pulsing softly.

Selene: "That's not human."

Caelan: "Neither are we."

Scene: The Truth Laid Bare

He told her everything.

Tribrids. Immortality. The battles. The rise. The war they fought and won… and the peace they were trying to hold.

When he was done, she didn't move.

Then—

Selene: "You know what the worst part is?"

Caelan: "What?"

Selene: "I'm not surprised."

"I always knew you were holding something back. Something dangerous. But I stayed because whatever it was—I knew it wasn't evil."

"Just… hidden."

Scene: Her Past Meets His Truth

She turned to him—eyes sharper now, voice quieter.

"You don't know this, but my family… we were trained in silence. In secrets. I come from a long line of hunters. Monster trackers."

Caelan's expression didn't shift.

"You were taught to kill people like me?"

Selene (shrugging): "Maybe. But I've never been good at following orders."

She stepped closer.

"I don't care what you are.

You're mine. And I don't let go of what's mine."

Final Scene: The Bond Is Forged

Caelan offered her his wrist—old tradition.

Selene took it gently.

Her fingers brushed the inside of his palm. A spark—literal—flickered at the contact.

Selene (softly): "You still want to keep going?"

Caelan: "I trust you with everything."

Selene: "Then you're a fool."

She kissed his wrist anyway.

And the truth between them burned clean and real.
