Five days before, when Liya was returning home with her son Inu, she saw two handsome men waiting near a car across the road. The man wearing shades obviously seemed to be the boss and the other with spectacles his assistant. They were really eye catching and everyone passing by stared at them. In a foreign nation, where people were usually blond haired, spotting people in black hair occurred naturally for Liya. Seeing them gave Liya a sense of familiarity with the people in her home country. It was a silent habit of assurance that made Liya feel that she wasn't alone. So she looked at the men with curiosity, to see if they were from her country. But on realizing that they were also staring at her, Liya quickened her pace and hurried to her apartment entrance.
To her fear, the men crossed the road and came to her. They were obviously waiting for her and this made Liya more alarmed. She held Inu more firmly to her body and prevented his face to be seen by them. The assistant was the first to come forward and greet her.
"Hello… You must be Ms Liya Siran, right? This is Mr Yul Amarok and I am his assistant Devin. Can you spare some time to talk?" Devin was all professional in introductions.
Though Liya had heard about Yul Amarok and Devin when she was in Poonj, she was seeing them for the first time. They were known for their business acumen and synchronization in working. And as for Yul, who doesn't know about the Amaroks. Their royal lineage and power were known to everyone in Poonj. But she obviously had no idea, what there was to talk to her. So she said, "I don't know you people. And I don't have anything to talk about." She turned to continue walking hastily to escape from them.
Seeing Liya leave, Devin blocked her from front and Yul came up to her. It was now he was paying attention to her. He removed his shades from the eyes, and said, "This must be your son, Inu, isn't it? We need to do a DNA test on Inu, to confirm something. We will talk formally after the results."
That wasn't saying, it was ordering. Liya distanced herself from the men, holding her sleeping son close and said, "Why should I allow my son to do a DNA test with people I don't know? I reject it. If you are not leaving, I will call the Police." Liya knew she stood no chance in fighting two well build men, much taller and stronger than her. More than that, it would be hard for her to run with Inu in her hands. But still she didn't want to show her fear and replied with firm stand. Then she turned to walk forward from them as fast as she could.
But before Liya could reach the apartment entrance, Yul got hold of Liya by hand and Devin took out a cotton swab to take Inu's saliva sample. "I just need to take some saliva from his mouth. It will take only a second, no need to even wake Inu." Devin said to Liya.
Liya was startled by the move and in an attempt to escape from Yul's hold, she stumbled while moving back. Yul had no choice but to catch Liya by waist and pull her towards him, to prevent her falling with Inu. Now, Inu was caught between his mom and Yul and all the commotion made him awake. He started crying hugging his mom's neck.
Devin was quick to react and said to Yul, "Hold them like that." Yul had no choice but to keep Liya and Inu in the same position and Devin took advantage of the situation. He easily collected saliva from crying Inu and successfully put the swab into a test tube. "All done now" he informed Yul.
Yul released the mom and son, on hearing Devin. "What are you doing?" Liya shouted at Yul and stepped further away from them while Liya patting Inu's back and comforting him. She tried to coerce him back to sleep while walking quickly to her apartment. He didn't sleep, but stopped crying. Seeing that, Yul and Devin relaxed. After all, a crying child is a nightmare to everyone.
Devin bowed at walking Liya and said, "We will come with the results tomorrow." They walked to their car after that. Liya turned to see them leave and ran to her apartment without knowing what to do. She had no one to ask help or anywhere to run to, since it was a foreign land and not her home. No it would have been same even if it was Poonj. She had run away from Poonj and now where she can run to again?
Finally she decided to run away with Inu to somewhere else. She started packing her bags and looked outside the window, for any suspicious activity. But to her disappointment she saw men guarding outside her apartment. From their tall figure and black hair, along with wide eyes and large forehead, Liya could identify them as people from Poonj. She was being watched. She was trapped.
Liya didn't even step out of her apartment next day out of fear. She walked to and fro in her single room house, worried about Inu. Inu who was just four years old was playing with his toys after the breakfast. Liya watched her son and thought about countless ways to escape from there but none seemed practical or safe. When the calling bell rang, she was startled and hesitated on whether to open the door or not.
The bell rang twice and it irritated Inu too. He came out from his playhouse and looked at a scared Liya. She smiled at him in assurance and said, "Mom will see who it is. Go back to play dear" and went to open the door.
As expected, Yul was standing there with Devin. Before she could say anything they barged in. Yul inspected the whole room and found it tiny and insufficient to live in. The hall was divided into kitchen and bedroom and there was a bathroom. It was her world. But now with two men inside the room, her world seemed to have squeezed into a tinier place.
Liya stared at them and Inu ran to her after dropping his toy. He held her dress tightly and hid behind her. Yul saw how scared the child was. So he stopped looking around and prompted Devin to give Liya the file he was carrying.
Devin took out some papers and handed over it to Liya. Liya saw two photographs on the front page. Both were security camera screenshots. One was from a pub and the other was from a hotel. Both had Liya and a man pictured together. She looked at the photos and then at Yul in bewilderment.
Yul ignored her and again prompted Devin. Devin turned the pages for Liya to see. She looked at the papers again. It was hospital appointments and pre-natal check-up reports in her name. And the last one was Inu's birth certificate with her name as mother.
Liya still didn't understand what this was about. As she was about to speak, Devin gave her another report. A DNA report, as they had said yesterday.
Yul said, "This report here states that Inu and I are related by around seventy percentages through paternal lines. Which means that there is a common male link between the two of us; which is of course my brother Yaniv, Inu's father. And I am here to take Inu back to where he rightfully belongs."
Liya wasn't getting anything. She shook her head in denial and said, "I don't understand anything. What are you trying to say? And what do you want with me and my son?"
"Stop playing dumb, Liya. Are you going to say that you don't know that Yaniv is your son's father?" Yul asked with a smirk.
