Chapter 69 - .69

The old man, hearing that Danielle didn't want to take him along, suddenly sat down and began scolding them.

His crying, fussing, and dramatic actions were just like those noisy women from before.

Danielle couldn't help but twitch her mouth. "What should we do?"

Zachary shook his head and, unexpectedly, the environment around them changed instantly.

"It's fine, we'll shake him off now."

Just as Danielle was about to praise him for his quick thinking, her eyes widened in surprise.

"He, he, he..."

Right in front of them, the old man was still sitting on the ground, glaring at them angrily.

Zachary gritted his teeth. He was sure he had just teleported them.

The next moment, they teleported again. This time, they didn't succeed as smoothly.

They appeared directly in front of a fire tiger beast. With a roar, a fire dragon nearly scorched Danielle's hair. Zachary quickly pulled her away.

"Everyone, be careful."

The fire tiger beast was a mid-level fierce beast, but its power was almost at the level of a high-tier fierce beast.

Zachary took control of the situation. "Don't use fire, attack with the blade only."

"Xiao, you look for the right moment."

The others were already positioned; they didn't need his help. They were far from the battlefield.

Zachary charged forward with his blade, while Danielle kept circling, disappearing and reappearing, each time striking the fire tiger with a sword.

But the fire tiger was too strong. After a few injuries, they finally managed to subdue it.

Danielle stood nearby, grinning as she moved her fingers.

"This fire tiger is a great catch. I'll stew some tiger meat for you guys."

At the mention of food, the others immediately perked up.

There was a bloodstain on his face, but at least he wasn't in danger anymore.

His eyes lit up. "Is it really delicious? I've never had it before."

Danielle nodded. "It's very nourishing."

They were all exhausted lately, so they could use a good meal.

Upon hearing that, they couldn't wait. He grabbed a knife and rushed forward.

Zachary had already spread the tiger's smelly blood all over the area.

"This is its territory. The blood will scare off other fierce beasts for at least half a day. We can rest now."

Danielle nodded. Since it was safe, she released the two little ones.

Since Xiao had already awakened her abilities, she could take care of Rain in case of any trouble.

Zachary quickly set up a stove on the ground.

Danielle brought over a few tomatoes and said, "Tomato beef stew is delicious. I think tiger meat should taste great too."

She didn't hesitate and started cooking it just like she would for beef stew.

The pot bubbled with steam as Zachary stoked the fire, while Danielle sliced some tiger meat for grilling.

Fire tiger meat tasted completely different from pork—it was chewy, but the meat was easy to eat. As they ate, Danielle felt her energy recovering faster.

Danielle wrapped a cabbage leaf around some meat and stuffed it into Zachary's mouth.

"Try it, the flavor is great."

He stuffed his mouth full, chewing happily, "No kidding, the seasoning that Danielle made is so fragrant—spicy, sour, and pure. I can't stop once I start eating."

He quickly rolled another piece and didn't mind the spiciness. The meat slice was wrapped in a lot of sauce, and he was about to put it in his mouth when… the meat was gone.

He bit into the air. "Hey? Where's my meat?"

Zachary stood up cautiously. When he saw the old man next to him, everyone froze.

This man still couldn't get rid of him?

Zachary and the others stood in a tense line, but the old man completely ignored them.

He ate like there was no tomorrow, practically trying to swallow the whole grill.

"Kid, what are you still standing there for? Didn't you see the meat's gone? Go cut more."

The old man waved his hand, and he was uncontrollably pulled toward the cutting board.

His eyes kept darting around in terror.

What's going on? How does he know I'm a guy? Help, someone help!

Zachary raised his black knife. "Who are you?"

This old man was definitely no ordinary one. If they couldn't get rid of him, they had to get serious.

Whoosh.

Before they knew it, Zachary's knife was sheathed, even though he hadn't pulled it out himself. His face was filled with fear. What kind of power is this?

"If I were you, I wouldn't let your little wife go back to the space."

The old man didn't even look up, continuing to stuff his face with meat.

Danielle stepped forward and stood in front of him, looking at the old man. "Mr. Zhi, are you here for me?"

Mr. Zhi raised an eyebrow in disdain. "What 'Mr. Zhi'? Just call me Mr. Zhi."

Mr. Zhi?

Danielle and the others silently exchanged glances.

None of them had ever heard of him before.

But when you're under the eaves, you have to bow your head.

And… Danielle had a feeling that Mr. Zhi didn't mean them any harm.

She gave Zachary a look. "Alright, Mr. Zhi, once you're done eating, could you please let us go?"

"Stop talking so much. Hurry up, the seasoning's almost gone. Bring more."

From then on, Danielle and the others took care of Mr. Zhi.

He nearly cried.

He had just cut half a head of a fire tiger beast's meat. You should know, a fire tiger beast weighs at least a thousand pounds.

Looking at Mr. Zhi's thin body, he silently shed a tear. How does he not burst from eating all that?

Danielle's seasoning seemed to have become automatic after a while. Finally, she saw Mr. Zhi lean back and let out a satisfied burp.

"Ahh, that's better."

Danielle nervously approached him. "Mr. Zhi, now that you're done…"

"Hey, what's that? It smells so good!"

Mr. Zhi suddenly appeared next to Zachary, his eyes glowing as he stared at the big pot.

He almost drooled.

"Little girl, tell me, what's in there? It smells amazing!"
