JJ's POV
I wasn't really paying attention in class until Serena came in.
"Ms. Danvers, you're late." Mrs Harris said.
"I'm so sorry ma'am." She apologized.
"It's okay, you can seat with Brown." She said as she pointed to me.
She quickly rushed to sit beside me. The next thing I knew, she was so focused in class that she barely noticed me until after the class had ended. She was about to leave when she tripped and almost fell. I stood up to help her and she landed on me. I was surprised when she hit me and for about a minute, she remained on my chest. Then she looked at me.
"Um. I'm sorry." She said.
"It's okay. If I hadn't caught you on time, you would have probably been in a coma." I said.
"That's true. Thanks for saving me." She responded.
Then she left and I followed her. We were having Literature at the moment. I saw Raye glare at Serena but she seemed to not care. I went to my locker to get my books and I went to Literature class. I sat next to Serena. Mr. Stewart, our Literature teacher came inside and we started our class.
"So today, I'll be handing out projects to everyone on the poems we'll treat this year. It's a group of two people and your assignment is to research on the poems and its poets. So I'll start with Ariana and Fiona, Nikki and Tommy, Raye and Jason, Henry and Wendy, Zach and Irene, Melissa and Ken, Ginny and George and the final two, JJ and Serena."
I was literally happy when I heard the two last names. Mr. Stewart then said he'll send the names of the poems on our group and that was pretty much it, actually. One thing I liked about Mr. Stewart was that he always ended his class about fifteen to twenty minutes early just for us to catch up and discuss especially about projects. Other teachers might think he's a lazy man but he's not. So I asked Serena if we could exchange numbers and she accepted. Raye appeared, trying to flirt to me as always.
"Hey, JJ. Too bad we weren't paired together for this project." She said.
"Yeah. Too bad." I responded with sarcasm.
"So, how's it going?" She asked.
"It's the usual." I replied.
"Alright." She said as she was adjusting her outfit. I just ignored her. Her partner, Jason called her and she left. Good riddance!
The bell soon rung and it was break time. I quickly went to my locker to drop my books and went into the cafeteria. As usual, all eyes were on me. I went to take my food and sat with the guys (football team). We talked about football and other stuffs.
Break soon ended and we had English again. As usual, I sat with Serena and I noticed she looked tired and soon she slept off. Mrs. Harris noticed and called her name and I tapped her. She woke up soon after a few taps.
"Thanks again." I said.
"You're welcome. It's not a big deal." I responded and smiled afterwards.
"Okay then." She turned to Mrs. Harris.
"Danvers. Are you alright?" Mrs. Harris asked.
"I'm good, ma'am." She replied.
"Are you sure? You don't seem good to me. What's wrong?" Mrs. Harris asked further.
"I'm fine. It's okay." She replied.
"If you say so." Mrs. Harris said.
~~~ Time passed ~~~
School ended and I noticed Serena wasn't feeling herself so I told Ariana to see her. Later, I saw Serena enter Ariana's car. She was probably going home, I thought.
Later, after football practice, I went home, and I took a bath. I went downstairs to take a juice and cookies in the kitchen. I went back upstairs to start my research and within a few minutes I was done.
~~~ Time passed ~~~
I got home and after taking a quick shower, I chatted up Serena.
'Are you still up?'
Soon after she responded, 'Yeah. Good night.'
'Good night.' I replied but it went unread.
I played a few games with my friends and slept off.
The next morning at 6:00, I went out to jog and I saw Serena on my way back. She was in her track suit and she actually looked good.
"Hey." I said.
"Oh. Hi." She responded as she removed her airpods.
"I guess you're alright now." I said.
"As you can see." She responded.
"I can drop you off at school if you don't mind." I suggested.
"Alright then." She accepted. "Say hi to Ariana for me."
"Alright." I responded.
I arrived at my house and went in. I saw Ariana in the living room holding a bottle of protein shake.
"Morning sis."
"Morning."
"Um. You don't have to drop Serena off at school. I can do it."
"Alright then drop me off too."
"Oh okay. Make sure to be ready on time. I leave by 7:30."
"Okay. I'll try." She said then she entered the kitchen.
After I was finally through with my preparation for school, Ariana and I went over to Serena's and she came out wearing a crop top and baggy pants with a white Nike air. Her hair was styled into a messy bun. She looked good actually.
"Hey girl." Ariana greeted.
"Hi." Serena responded.
"It's good to see you taking my advice for once." Ariana said with sarcasm.
"Actually, Mom forced me to wear these. She says I should enjoy the final year." She responded.
"Aunt Pat does have taste. And she's right, you need to enjoy this final year. And again, you should be looking forward to prom." Ariana said.
"Who gives a damn about prom? 'Cause I don't." Serena responded.
"Hey ladies. I'm here too." I said.
"Let's just go." Ariana said.
"Thank you." Serena said to me.
"No problem. So why don't you find prom interesting?" I asked.
"It's stupid and a waste of my time." She replied.
"That's how I feel about prom too." I said.
"Oh really!" She exclaimed. "I actually thought prom was your thing. I mean you are 'the' most popular student in this town."
Note: She exaggerated on 'the.'
"Yeah. It's doesn't matter though." I replied.
"It doesn't? So how would those girls react if they don't see you at prom? I mean they are definitely expecting to see you there." She asked.
"I don't know and I really don't care to know." I replied.
"Hey, you two!" Ariana shouted.
"We're coming." Serena responded.
It seemed like time was on our side today. We soon left school and I dropped Serena home. Ariana said she would call Serena soon and they hugged. Serena got out of the car and went inside.
