Chapter 17 - Altar of the Kings

The supply wagon stopped in front of the inn in the small town.

With the help of the inn's attendant, Omar parked the wagon in the stable behind the inn, while Varokal led five guards to the town's church to seek treatment from the priest for their injuries.

Seeing that he was unharmed, Galen asked the innkeeper to prepare the three best rooms for him and eight portions of food. Then, he chose the middle room for himself.

Entering the room, he found the study, sat down, pulled out a piece of parchment, dipped a quill in ink, and began to write.

To Danath:

My beloved cousin. While traveling south of the Arathi Highlands, I encountered a troll hunting party, which my guards and I annihilated.

I discovered that they were collecting a large number of spider venom sacs. As a member of the Trollbane, you must have read about the uses of venom sacs collected by the Revantusk tribe in the library.

The hunting party I eliminated included a master warrior and a peak master witch doctor, a level of strength that places them among the ruling class of trolls.

The trolls' annual sacrifice is approaching, and I suspect the Revantusk tribe is planning something big. You must be vigilant and guard against troll attacks on villages to plunder civilians for live sacrifices.

Although this journey was short, the battles with trolls of equal rank have benefited me greatly.

I am currently resting in Three Forks. Afterward, I will return to Stromgarde and implore Father to allow me to form an army. As a Trollbane, I hope to join the military soon, defend the honor of Trollbane, and protect the people.

Respectfully,

Galen

After finishing writing, Galen let out a long sigh. He rolled up the parchment, tied it with a strap, took out sealing wax, heated it slightly over the candle flame, and then affixed it to the seam of the parchment. Taking out his ring, he pressed it onto the sealing wax, leaving the Trollbane family crest.

Having done this, Galen leaned back in the chair, closed his eyes, and began to rest. After a while, he connected his mind to the Origin Core, casting his gaze upon the base.

At night, the base was brightly lit. Since setting out at noon, eight or nine hours had passed, and the population of the base had increased significantly. The newly trained farmers were being assigned tasks under Cliff's arrangement.

The farmers' work was roughly divided into four categories.

The first category was permanently stationed in each farm to harvest wheat and then process it in the farm's own small mill. Galen observed the base almost every day, so he had a general understanding of the farmers' working mode.

After the farm was built, the farmland came with a batch of mature magic wheat. After sending a farmer to be stationed, he would immediately start harvesting the wheat and then continue to sow new seeds, watering and irrigating every day, and removing insects and weeds. Because the soil had constant fertility, there was no need to fertilize. During this period, the farmer would go to the small mill to process the harvested wheat. After ten days, the wheat would mature, and then a new round of harvesting and sowing would begin.

The second category was relatively simple, which was the farmers selected by Galen to build new buildings. They would put down their current work and prioritize construction until the building was completed and they were idle again.

The above two categories were not under Cliff's command. The remaining two categories of work were mining and logging. Currently, due to Galen's previous recharge, the amount of gold was large, and wood resources were scarce, so there were more lumberjacks than people in the mine.

Six new footmen had also emerged from the barracks, and they had joined the patrol team. The two squads that patrolled during the day were resting in the barracks, and they would still need to take turns on duty at night.

Turning his mental energy, he looked to the other side and found that the Altar of Kings had been completed. Galen was excited. This was a building that could train heroes. Each of them had the potential to become a tenth-tier legend, and with them, the base's troops would have someone to command.

Altar of Kings: Can summon new heroes and resurrect fallen heroes. Can provide the host with powerful strength.

When deploying the Altar of Kings before, Galen had read the introduction of this building. Summoning and resurrecting heroes, he understood, was the same as in the game. It should be possible to summon the Archmage, Paladin, Bloodmage, and Mountain King, but what did it mean to provide the host with powerful strength?

With this doubt, he finally waited for the completion of the Altar of Kings and could explore it.

The Altar of Kings was entirely built of huge white marble. It was roughly a platform with dozens of layers of giant stone steps. On the platform stood a giant statue holding a sword in both hands, with two Roman columns on each side guarding it.

Galen didn't know how the Origin Core managed to build a marble building with 1800 units of gold and 500 units of wood. You can't ask, asking is the power of God.

Casting his mind into the Altar of Kings, connecting to the Origin Core's subsystem inside the altar, the altar's panel appeared, with two portraits in turn.

Archmage

Hero Type: Intelligence Hero, proficient in Frost Magic

Talent Skills: Blizzard, Water Elemental, Brilliance Aura, Mass Teleport

Hero Upgrade: Master-Legendary Tier (Based on Host Strength)

Summon Time: Five Days

Paladin

Hero Type: Strength Hero, devout user of Holy Light

Talent Skills: Holy Light, Divine Shield, Devotion Aura, Resurrection

Hero Upgrade: Master-Legendary Tier (Based on Host Strength)

Summon Time: Five Days

These four figures were the first interface of the Altar of Kings. Although there were only two heroes currently, Galen was still quite excited.

When he saw that the Altar of Kings also had a second page interface, he was even more excited. He had guessed before that the function of the Altar of Kings was not just to summon heroes, and he was right.

Awesome!

With an excited mood, he turned to the second interface. Two skills appeared, and he invested his mental energy into them.

Power of Kings: Absorb the soul power of powerful creatures, with a certain chance to transform into the altar's heroic spirit.

The Road of Kings:

Passive

You can have one-thousandth of the power bonus of your subjects.

Requirement: Rule a city with a population of over ten thousand, you will become a king (Level 2 Main City Unlock)

Summoning of the King:

Instant.

As a king, you can summon the power of every powerful being that has appeared on your planet to possess you

Duration: 120 seconds (can be extended)

Consumption: Unit Gold, Unit Wood

What amazing good news! These three skills on the second page are simply like winning a 50 million dollar lottery, making Galen feel great from the soles of his feet to the top of his head.

The first skill should be to make up for the original multiple heroes of the Altar of Kings.

Needless to say, the more subjects he has, the more powerful he will be. He just doesn't know whether the subjects here refer to the population trained by the base, or include the native population of Azeroth, or even whether they include intelligent races other than humans.

This will have to wait for him to try it in the future.

In Galen's view, the third skill is a cheat device.

Powerful beings that have appeared on this planet, Azeroth! This is a planet transformed by the Titans! It has been visited by the Titans! And Azeroth is known as the strongest Titan from birth! Even if Azeroth and the Titans don't count, there are still the Titan Keepers, Odin, Ra-den, Tyr, and other powerful beings.

There are also a group of Wild Gods and the Four Elemental Lords, all of whom have strength far exceeding the hero rank.

Compared to obtaining the power of these powerful creatures, ten thousand units of gold and ten thousand units of wood seem so worthwhile.
